'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare' trailer (PC/XB1/PS4/360/PS3, Nov 4th) [Up: Info]

Batista's veins are concentrated on his biceps. His forearms veins are thinner and more subtle.

The guy in the picture's has his veins all over his arms

Don't know if I should be excited or not but that trailer was pretty damn good. The graphics seem to have taken a huge leap forward?

Also what's with discount kevin spacey =D

Actually veins popping out like that is pretty inductive of steroid use. I expect the soldiers in this gane to be on some sort of drug also.

Okay.

All of that sounds patchable into COD 4 ... let alone the numerous sequels. Why are we going to pay for a brand new game?

Same reason people buy yearly sport games. CoD is a FPS sports game but at least it's far more varied than the sports rehashes that devs get away with on a yearly basis.

So this is essentially Black Ops 3? This looks EXACTLY what I expected Treyarch to be working on, as the next game in the Black Ops series.

At any rate, I love...LOVE what I'm seeing here. This game looks fuckin nuts! Always have been a huge Kevin Spacey fan as well, and I'm genuinely surprised to see him here in Advanced Warfare. I'm really hoping that Sledgehammer Games knocks this out of the park, because this game looks really goddamn awesome so far.

A little OT, but some pre-order statistics from Amazon:

PS4: #32 on the best-sellers list.
XBO: #47
360: #776
PS3: #1,315
PC (Physical): #2,169
PC (Digital): #2,236

What's interesting is, I didn't even know they went that deep with the rankings on the US site. It's down near the product details of each version. They never had that before, so it's helpful to see how certain anticipated items are doing outside the top 100. That next-gen thirst is turning into dehydration at this point.

Why are people wet for Spacey?

He's a good actor and all but is he really going to be a game changed to COD?

Basically the same reason why people are excited for a movie if they like an actor thats announced to be in it. Having a good actor does not equal a good movie. But it sure as hell can increase your enjoyment.

Why am i even explaining this?

It does make me wonder if Treyarch is kind of pissed at SHG.

I mean they did start the whole "In the Future!!!" CoD with BO2, and presumably BO3 is going to go further into the future.

So what...is BO3 gonna take place in the 22nd century or something (2100s)? Cause SHG has Future Warfare on lockdown with AW taking place 40 years from now.
I'm worried about that too, they can go back to something similar to 'World At War', but I really hope they continue with Black Ops 3.

I'll see what I can do. ;)

That would be simply amazing, thank you!

And if you don't mind, just to lay down some additional overview.

The first superiority of COD4 Team Tactical was in the 3vs3 configuration. The idea of only 3 players changes everything drastically when compared to 4vs4 (as in almost all later games) because you simply can't allow to lose one player in most modes, with the only exception of the Team Deathmatch. Having only 3 players changes approaches drastically for S&D and HQ because it creates tremendous anticipation of enemy and asks for tactics to be a prevalent factor instead of power-rushing.

No later game managed to get this perfect player-balance because it either offered 4vs4 modes (or "3vs3" which became 4vs4 as soon as fourth player came) or because it dropped either some of the modes or maps from the rotation. Which leads me to other two points.

The importance of having all modes in Team Tactical rotation (sans Free For All naturally), as COD4 had, is another essential detail. All games after COD4 had this crazy and weird decision to remove half of the modes from Team Tactical, probably because 90% of COD players are not used to have a small number of players on maps and maps were getting bigger with every game while modes were getting more complex. However, we played numerous 3vs3 games in all modes in the Private Lobbies of all post-COD4 games and everything was working PERFECTLY.

Me and my friends - and we are the players who ranked all our prestiges in COD4 through Team Tactical only on multiple profiles - never understood why someone thinks that all modes are not playable in 3vs3 configuration. Every single mode ever introduced in COD games can be played in 3vs3 with no problems, and even with somewhat problematic spawns of later games (due to bigger maps).

And third important thing is to have all maps in Team Tactical rotation. Small, midsize, big, all of them. Each and every one demands a change of tactics and approach, mode-dependable and it is a perfect place to learn everything about each map. Even the biggest maps are perfectly playable with 3 players on each side, even for mode like Domination (and unfortunate Sabotage as well), because it simply ask for a different aproach in capruting the points.

Not even to speak how 3vs3 Team Tactical simply discourages any kind of K/D hunt and focuses at players interested in playing modes more than anything else.

I would be so happy if my sentiments are taken into your concern and if the classic Team Tactical gets (re)introduced in the series again. It is the most balanced, most tactical and the most interesting way to play COD games IMO

I am aware TT playlists are not popular as others and how there is only a fraction of players playing them. But if you launch COD4 today and go into Team Tactical mode, you will still find players playing it. And that is speaking more than anything else about that particular mode.

Thank you once more for your time and consideration.

PS4 install base > MS marketing

It will be interesting to see how will situation be after E3 and the large marketing push the game will have there.

If there is a large difference in sales for the game that favor the PS4 I wonder if next year's CoD will still do the Xbox marketing. I imagine if MS still offers to pay them for it that Activision will say sure because that is just free money for them, but will MS even see it as worth it when it is just going to sell better on PS4 anyways? They could spend that money on a different game.

My in-depth impressions about the trailer...

Ripping off Titanfall with style, now with 99% more Keyser Sose.

When something gets stale, just borrow the next big thing that's slightly less stale basically.

For me it is logical that when you have a game you use the game to impress others.

Just look at the reaction to:
Super Smash Bros Melee Reveal
Twilight Princess Reveal (2004)
Titanfall Reveal

When people saw the gameplay and were blown away by it, it was great. None of the cinematic stuff even compares to how positively people reacted to these. In fact I would say Twilight Princess tops them all.

Maybe it is just because I am old enough to remember a time when games were announced we would have gameplay footage (or screens), or gameplay footage cut up into a trailer, usually the former.

Since games are an interactive experience that you control, the story trailers show me nothing of what the game is like and how it plays.

Why is it crazy to expect to be shown a game when a game is announced?

Of course there are outliers.

You aren't going to release a story trailer for Resogun either, nor a game that uses subtitles like Zelda, or a game with little to no focus on story like Titanfall or Super Smash Bros.

No it's not because of your age, many people including myself are plenty old enough to remember the time before cinematic story trailers, which are not that old...

The E3 trailer of TP had one of the best reveals ever, but not necessarily because it was a gameplay trailer, it was more due to circumstance, art direction, timing, etc.

When you look at the most successful ad campaigns of the last generation, most were based on story trailers.

Halo
Gears
Assassins Creed
Uncharted
TLoU
GTA
CoD
Bioshock
Etc etc etc

They all used story trailers heavily.

Now this isn't to say we didn't see plenty of gameplay.

We saw PLENTY of gameplay for these titles, in E3 walkthroughs, in Viddocs, and other ways.

I would much rather get a story trailer for hype or even lore building like Halo Reaches "Deliver Hope" and then get gameplay thoroughly shown off and gameplay goals explained.

Gameplay is near impossible to analyze and properly judge for Most games in a small trailer.

King of gameplay trailers? Dice. Just look at BF3-4 trailers and trailers for ever expansion.

Scifi shooter or not...sure felt like a lot was lifted from Titanfall. Shame they went the future route to draw comparisons.
I much prefer historical/modern combat when it comes to COD, but thats just me.

This might be the first COD I play. The trailer was pretty good and the premise this time around sounds a little bit more original than usual. Spacey's involvement makes the offering a whole lot more appealing.

With that said, what would be the best starting point for a PS3 owner? I've read good things about World at War. I'm mainly interested in the single player experience, therefore I wouldn't mind older entries like the aforementioned WaW.

what's with the thick veins in the 2nd picture? It look unrealistic, and that guy isn't like flexing or straining his arms. Other than that, the rest of the pics look great to me

ROIDS... Having served in Iraq, so many of these PMC people were roided up ex military, don't buy the hype they usually weren't SF, some weren't even military (most of those guys were American) That means lots of cunts who would do very unscrupulous things to 'get an edge'. I felt for the American guys, who by and large resented them as much, had to work with these guys every day.

Besides possible gameplay changes, which I doubt would be too drastic, I don't see Titanfall here. Titanfall doesn't have exoskeletons.

So why did this thread go from discussing the game to talking about resolution and framerate based off of the first trailer than is compressed for YouTube of a game that is 4 months from release? Are you guys serious?
Because it's obvious from the HQ gamersyde version, that the Xbox One version isn't running at a native 1080p.

Hopefully they don't gimp the PS4 version of Advanced Warfare with a worse multiplayer framerate by not allowing sub-1080p resolution online.
LMAO, you're pathetic.

SHG employee here. Really happy to finally be able to share this with you all.

Lots more to come in the following months but really glad that everyone is as hyped about Spacey as we are!
Can you tell us if the texture work is finished yet?

AW dude, that topic of PMC is very intersting. And you have actual experience!
Mind to make a thread about stories of them. No names or confidental stuff, of course.
Would appreciate it, very much. I am sure there are other gaffers who would love to hear war stories from you. I apologize for being insensitive. I assume you had to witnessed cruel things. Only if you are okay with it.

This is nothing like Titanfall. It's more like Ghost Recon and Crysis.

It was only a casual remark on how its unusual to see such huge veins on the forearm of a guy with that build. No need to start posting photos of muscular people here

Eurogamer sort of confirms that it is indeed 900p on the Xbox One.

We'll update should more media becoming available, but we'll go with a ballpark 1568x882 for now. The game gives the impression of a 900p title with post-process anti-aliasing, but the framebuffer appears to be slightly lower than that, representing a 50 per cent boost in overall resolution compared to Ghosts, but only 67 per cent of the pixel density of a full 1080p presentation. Bearing in mind that Xbox One optimisations tend to carry across to PS4 with its larger GPU and fully unified RAM, a native 1080p resolution for that version of the game isn't out of the question. However, we should remember that Advanced Warfare is still deep in development and could see substantial changes before it is released - though for a game like COD where a sustained 60fps is so important, we would hope for solid frame-rates taking priority over resolution increases.
