I would have taken the money and never looked back.
man, some people are stuck in the 90s.
5 mil isn't shit these days, you can't live comfortably on that and he's already said he loves his job so why sell it? So he can buy coke and hookers for 3 months?
like that saying goes. find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life
For 5 million dollars it would have no only had a no compete clause, but probably a clause that said "you can't say you sold out the site" clause too. And like 100 more precautions.
What an idiot

lol You can't live comfortably on 5 mil? I know people who live comfortably on $100,000 a year. I would never have to work another day in my life if I had $5mill socked away. Shoot, even $1 mill.
I understand why Lore didn't want to sell, but I would have at 5 million. Probably cause I'm broke as can be.
Can you imagine though like an IGN or Gamespot taking over? Ugh.
Only about 130,000 other gaf members on this site (for both sides)? Damn, makes it feel pretty intimate compared to any other major social networking or aggregation site out there. It's pretty cool that such a relatively niche site has gained so much infamy and respect in the gaming community.
If I had 5 millions in my hands tomorrow, I'll probably lose everything in a year or two.
I'd be better with a very good steady income.
Good move !
Had not seen this before HOLY SHIT SOOOOO GOOOOD

I love GAF really I do but financially how is it worth millions
Genuine q.
Based on the estimated page views from OP, and using an ad revenue calculation I found through Google (though I can't verify the accuracy of it) of $1.20 per 1,000 page views, EviLore would be pulling in $84,000 of ad revenue per month. Obviously you have to take out operating costs to determine the profit from that, and I have no idea what the operating costs would be.
if registering for this web site becomes much easier(using a free email account) i am pretty sure member figures would have been in the millions, but to be honest making it difficult is a great way of having a high standards, the youngest members here are in their late teens.
How can anyone comment on EviLore turning down $5m without knowing how much money the site is making him per month/year?
