Gamespot rumor: Big third-party Xbox One exclusive at E3

Homefront 2 looks more likely then those other 2.

Yes and no.

0% chance F4 is exclusive to either console too much money to lose.

That being said L4D was published by EA twice last gen console exclusively on 360, and they just got done just got done signing several timed and not-timed exclusive agreements with Microsoft. I guess the big question is who's publishing the console version(s) of L4D3? Until that question is answered I don't think anything can be ruled out.

This is the same Sega that won't translate Yakuza for the western market?

Third party Sega has always been miserly as fuck. Both Shenmue games have had serviceable translations and dubs before now, so why not? Yakuza's problem is that, one, it's been tied down to one brand platform as its home in general, two, it deals with regional form of subject matter that doesn't seem to appeal abroad much. Shenmue has mystery and a strong feeling of adventure as well as not having to fall inline with the darker, crime-drama tone of Yakuza by focusing on a more pure-at-heart character.

Wouldn't surprise me if Mass Effect DLC is exclusive to Xbox, I can't see the game itself being exclusive even if the franchise started there.
If EA said no to the game being exclusive, I'd doubt that they'd ok DLC-exclusivity. Maybe a month or so, but there's no way EA would say no to that kind of revenue stream.

I dont understand those insiders.

Why dont they just come out and say it?

If they dont wanna say something than why tease it?

And it seems like everyone is saying the obvious things:

There is gonna be third party exclusive on X1.. well daaaaaaaaahhhhhhh

This has always been the absolute worst thing from "insiders". If you don't have the balls to just say what it is, because you really don't know and are just trying to look like you know, STFU.

Every Mainline Yakuza has had a western release up to now. They may not be exactly the same but they are close enough for Sega to see there's no market for either in the west, because they have decided not to even bother translating the game they are currently making.

Honestly the whole insider thing is doing my head in, did anyone expect Uncharted not to look gorgeous ? I can't wait for it but come on, anyone can tweet or post that and make it sound elusive One of my pet hates is attention seeking and the whole insider thing since last year reeks of it. I have never known a generation like it and I remember the Sony/Xbox 2005 shit.

Yakuza 5 didn't get released in the west

Shinobi after being right regarding The Order has turned into Mr Nudge Nudge , Wink Wink.

They are beholden to no one , so acting like he knows stuff but keeping it to himself is attention seeking more akin to Thuway. There really isn't any reason to keep quiet.

Are people demanding Yakuza like they apparently are with Shenmue? I don't see anywhere near the love for Yakuza even if it's mechanically stronger in many ways. Shenmue, as a brand, simply has more pent-up desire in the west than Yakuza ever has, as evidenced by both Boyees and Spencer both claiming it's the most requested thing or one of, anyway. You never hear them talk Yakuza. It's got more hardcore cred and could be very popular because it isn't more dark, urban gang and crime-focused drama...and there's enough out there of that now with GTA, Sleeping Dogs, Watch Dogs, Saint's Row (more absurd now, though), and smaller shooters, like Payday, and even big shooter franchises getting into it on the side with Battlefield's new cops 'n robbers skin.

I recall Boyes mentioned Yakuza 5 as one of the most requested titles.

And predicting The Order was being delayed to 2015 was not some incredible thing. The IGN guys had been saying it for months on their podcasts. There were also people on other podcasts who mentioned it was likely.

Okay, cool, but relative to Shenmue, that can easily go cross-plat with no built-up expectations of home platform, I have a hard time believing it would have near the same level of expressed desire to see release. Yakuza is mostly Japanese-aimed, and on-top, mostly Sony-based. Shenmue has far more appeal. No one's doing retrospectives on Yakuza or GDC making-ofs. It's just not broadly-appealing by comparison.

Well, he accurately said that RAD was not aware of what was shared on the Twitch stream, so there were some acutely specific things that he's clearly aware of that is not 'predictable.'

Shinobi clearly knows his stuff, but at the same time, he's still not fool-proof to say the least. I'm personally waiting to see his Assassin's Creed claim materialise this E3, where he mentioned 2 demos planned for AC: Unity ( SP and 4-player co-op )

As well as his Guerrilla Games redhead dinorobot claim. That one is pretty specific, and clearly comes from him without anyone else reporting anything remotely similar before him.

They don't like showing that they don't actually know anything.

"This is the dimensions of the PS4"
[everyone laughs]
"wait, my source was wrong, that's not the dimensions" derp

OK, put yourself in Phil Spencer's shoes.

Last year Microsoft absolutely killed it at E3 with the best 3rd party exclusive of all time, Titanfall. Titanfall demolished the competition at E3 with over 60 awards! (Proof: http://www.titanfall.com/news/titanfall-awards?intcmp=titanfall_ce_right-promo1_awards_see-awards). No game has even done that. There were other games shown at E3 2013, but Titanfall is the game everyone remembers. Titanfall then went on to be the biggest, most hyped game of 2014.

So, as Phil Spencer, your job for E3 2014 is to top Titanfall. How do you do that? Shenmue 3?

Yes, Shenmue 3.

Actually, a three game deal: Shenmue 1 HD + Shenmue 2 HD + Shenmue 3.

Phil's been talking about Shenmue for months. Announcing it at E3 would make the press forget about every other game at the show.

These twitter cranks are like the psychic cold readers of the gaming news world.

Anyone with a keen interest in gaming and plenty of time on their hands could do it and achieve the same accuracy.

As with 'real' psychics, you get people willing to latch on to the things they get right, and fail to remember the countless things that were wrong, or too vague.

I'm sure that some people do occasionally get info but come on, most of the time this is clearly attention seeking bollocks.

That's a great analogy. It's the same exact strategy. Lots of statements that mean nothing like "this E3 sure will be great for gamers!"

It gets more attention this way.

You would think they would get more attention but giving out more information that ends up being correct and gaining an actually good reputation for "scoops" and info
Unfortunately the reality is that they tease, go for the attention and a combination of fanboy fodder and straight up BS at times along with a few (not exactly completely out there in most cases) bits of info in most cases.

Oh well. Ntkrnl is still the hero we deserved :(

It better not be Sleeping Dogs.

IT BETTER NOT

I hope Square-Enix didn't put United Front on the Xbox One version of Tomb Raider because of that.

Wrong. Crash or The Last Guardian have far more pull than a game about 500 people at gaf care about. My guess as others have said is probably a Capcom game not named Resident Evil. Lost Planet, Dragon's Dogma (hopefully not from my perspective), Monster Hunter (Capcom pls noe), or some new IP.

Controlled leaks are the best.

While I don't disagree, he hasn't been the only platform representative to mention it.

But it does make sense to me that it would be a platform holder that funds it.

My gut tells me it'll be something like Day Z, Rust (fig leaf edition) or No Mans Sky. I really hope it isn't No Mans Sky though if only because it seems such a boon for Morpheus.

Controlled leaks are the best.

Haven't some of the mods said it wasn't controlled? And members of the press? (Perhaps Jason can chime in on that)

But at the very least, a lot of what he said was correct, some teasing but also right to the point on a lot of stuff that has mostly turned out to be correct.

I'd rather that than the other crap we get.
