I was playing online yesterday and got absolutely shredded by some dude. Hadnt heard of this hopping thing yet until today, but after the race I watched the race on MKTV and saw him doing this hoping thing. Came right on this site and saw people talking about it. My greatest fears have been confirmed smh.
There won't be a better game all year, possibly with the exception of Smash.
The number of games delayed to 2015 makes my prediction above a lot easier.

Yeah, that same shortcut got me a few times also.
At any rate I'm in favor of patching it away and now I have to make a decision if this is a game I want to master. This is not what I signed up for, we'll see if I think the game is still fun played that way. Same thing happend with Counter Strike when russian walking became a thing, I lost interest in the game after that because the game is no longer fun to play.

They reset during Mondays I believe. Haven't joined the GAF tourney so not quite sure.

The Thwomp Ruins one at least has the benefit of only being a slight turn to get to. The DK Jungle one is a 90 degree angle, harder to time that turn so you hit it just right.
Yes, it's reset on monday morning (it's displayed at the tournament data screen)

I'm a bike user, so I prefer the sharper turns. It being such a small turn actually makes it more awkward for me.
How many seconds does the start-up screen take? (WiiU menu to the game) Mine takes up to 20-25 seconds and its worrisome.
My disc got out of its grip while in the cargo, it is scrached a little and first time I put it in, WiiU didnt read it. After several operations I managed to make it read. But I wonder if the long load time have anything to do with that.
PS: other than startup screen i didnt have any issues. Even though I tried it multiple times and it works just "ok", my OCD is hunting me down now.

Anyone else here playing this game in 5.1 surround sound? It's amazing how clear and well balanced the separate channels are in this game. Taking Nintendo's advise circa 1994, I've been playing this game hella loud! Some particularly awesome sounding levels are Cloud Top Cruise (when you enter the storm cloud), Grumble Volcano (during eruptions), and any portions where you go underwater (which all have that nice bubbly surround effect). Also the kart motors have a nice deep sound to them as well. Nintendo is making really good use of the Wii U's digital sound capabilities here.

The worst one is the only in the final lap one in grumble volcano. If seen the the nintendo guy in the time trial doing it, ive tried multiple times and the times I dont come short I always pass awya into the next hole.
I think theres also one at the end of shyguy falls and another in the beginning of mount wario that are pretty tricky.

I couldn't have possibly hoped for more from a Mario Kart. It's like Nintendo decided to finally go all out and make me their target audience for a game; I'm quite frankly taken aback. Granted, there are a few minor quibbles, no race times displayed being a major one, but by and large this game is AMAZING.
Sorry to hear in. But on a bright, self-serving note, sell it to me!

Sounds like it was your first race online. I was a little bit..."shocked" by how good everyone was online. Just learn to drift and to time your tricks/power ups correctly. I went from last place to averaging 4th place in a couple of days. Keep at it, and don't feel discouraged.
Because I stood no chance using the set-up I was running as it only gives me 1.25 speed.

I usually rock the lightweights but I've found that they just don't have the needed edge when they get ahead. They're great for battling in the middle of the pack but they have trouble winning.
You could at leas hoped for more battlemode?
The one on Mount Wario is incredibly easy to do, but I'm fine with you people not doing it, makes it easy to catch up.
The one at the end of Shy Guy Falls can be a bit hard with heavier characters, you'll likely just end up in the dirt, but with a character with proper handling it's easy to do.
Yeah. The classes below mario need more speed. Oh well 3.75 is working for now/
