Absolutely killed gen 5. Won 45 of 49 games. Finished the challenges at level 44. Dreading gen 6 after reading what you guys said. I hate triple threat and probably have 5 brain surgeon kills in 2 days playing time

Once you get the Spitfire LMG (which is a required weapon for the gen already), the Slammer mod, and actively seek out Titans in a smart fashion (Mainly those already engaged, force them to waste smoke, utilize and take advantage of auto titans), Brain Surgeon goes by rather quickly. Jumped from 13 pre-SF/Slammer to 37 in a couple of hours, and didn't have much trouble in them not counting in that run.

But yeah, Triple Threat is a pain to acquire kills with against Titans. Stryder is the best chassis to keep mobile and litter the ground as you move. Best to try and get direct hits when you can though. Looking down the sights of the weapon will cause the grenades to fire in a vertical pattern instead of horizontal, if you weren't aware, and makes it easier to deal greater damage through ease of direct hits against Titans.

It's slower progress due to the late unlocks for all the required weapons, so you won't finish before reaching Lvl50. But it's just a chore instead of being a near impossible task like the old-gooser challenge and 100 wins.
Is it easy to get a game going on the Xbone? I play it on PC, but I'm thinking of buying an Xbone next week, bundled with Titanfall.

Weekdays in the general 7-4pm EST range tend to be a bit bare, especially outside of Attrition and Variety Pack playlists. But otherwise it still seems to be doing ok. Could be better, but you're not likely to run into the same people again and again like on PC.

Edit: That sexy Gen 7 chip. It's a shame that this gen will likely be over quickly.

Pleasantly surprised by the legs the 360 version seems to have. Saw a lot of new first-generation players this weekend, along with plenty of grizzled vets at Gens 8, 9, and 10.

Word on DLC would be nice if they want my monies.

It should be dropping sometime this month.

I am practicing Bumper Jumper using my wife's account on Xbox One. I am having a hard time finding games in the latter missions in Campaign.

Bumper Jumper is absolutely awesome in one-on-one situation. I can keep jumping to avoid bullets while hip-aiming at the shooter or look around to find where the bullets are coming from.

They ever patch the PC FPS bug??

Doubt it. They don't seem to care to fix anything and the servers on the 360 have been a joke the last few days.

Starting to get irritated with the wait for the DLC too. Communication is laughable with Respawn and Bluepoint with this game. :/

Feels great to be unbanned lol...how's Titanfall doing any new patches or what not? I've been a little behind.

Not much at all really, new maps, no new modes, names for loadouts (yay?), no balancing (carbine and satchel are still OP), no performance patch still. The one big change was no carrying flags in Titans, though it should have never been in the game, how was it ever a good idea that Titans can carry flags?

New maps, modes taken away, modes put back (I think), no performance patches. Not too much had changed.

can't carry flags in your titan anymore

Thank you gentlemen -- I should really get back into this game. When it came out I played it nonstop and then I was gooser blocked and just rage quit. Now it's hard to get back into :(

Has the auto balancing teams been patched in yet? Still sitting in lobbies of 2 vs 5 a lot of the time with no players being team switched.

Edit: Also kicking AFK players needs to be so much quicker, just played half a match then with 2 team mates away and had to quit because we were getting beat down so badly.

Double Edit: Just read before on reddit that satchel charges are banned from the ESL league because they're so OP lol

It's in testing now, for the next update. It'll make those worst-case scenarios much better.

Awesome news, thanks for the update. What do you guys at Respawn think about the ESL rules for Titanfall? I'm not into professional or competitive gaming but it's not surprising satchel charges were banned and shotguns limited to one per team. I feel so cheap having to use them online to stay competitive with everyone else using them, it's so easy to just toss one in the general direction of an enemy and get them with the HUGE blast radius. Most people don't care if they kill themselves either.

Weird that shotguns are limited. The Carbine is the best weapon in the game by far.

Yeh I as pretty surprised by the shotgun limit as well. The carbine really is the best all round go to weapon while the shotgun is only good at close range. Might as well ban jump kicks as well if they're trying to get rid of insta kills.

Yeah. I think the jump kick mechanics are down right garbage. The entire animation is an auto-lock animation if they're within the kill bubble. Even if a player is above you, behind you, etc.

Next game should definitely fix it. Jump kick is probably the most frustrating game mechanic they have.

Do you think Titanfall 2 will have regen challenges? Does anyone like them?

I appreciate the fact that they use regen challenges in an attempt to get us to try different methods of play. But I dislike how that ends up being the focus of the match. I'm not sure how to balance that. Maybe they should just do away with them. I certainly wouldn't miss them.

With that said, I'm NOT looking forward to doing 50 Brain Surgeons...

I enjoy the legs that it gave to the game, but if more modes were in place and weapons were all around viable against each other, the gameplay could have been enticing in exploration all on its own.

With the ridiculous challenges that were/are in place (50 Goosers pre-patch, semi-broken 50 Brain Surgeon, 100 Wins) and how they dictate behavior in matches, I'd like to see them go or alter into something less intrusive to match behavior.

With that said, I'm NOT looking forward to doing 50 Brain Surgeons...

Campaign is probably the easiest place to get it. Less chance of players knowing tricks like backing rodeoing pilots into cluster missiles, having electric smoke, and so on and so forth.

Other tips:

  • Start early as soon as you access challenges. It will be a while before you unlock the ability to complete the other challenges.
  • Stim, Quick Reload, and Satchel Charges are the optimum options IMO. Cloak will get you closer unnoticed, but Stim allows you to catch up to Titans and avoid getting squashed from the weird kill box.
  • Pre-Spitfire, use Carbine and switch to your sidearm before reloading. Other good options that work best, if available, are the Amped Carbine, Amped EVA, Amped Charged Rifle (Charged Rifle useful for high damage and no splash damage), and Amped Spitfire. The best overall weapon will be the Spitfire LMG w/Slammer mod.
  • You don't want to draw too much attention to yourself, but if you feel the need to you can hit and run a Titan to knock down some health pre-Rodeo. Arc Grenades + Sidewinder are the best in this case. Risk is either the Titan turning its attention on you or retreating out.
  • Best targets are Titans already engaged in combat. Multiple enemy Titans, go for the one in the rear if possible. Stryders are the weakest and quick to take down completely with Spitfire+Slammer. Ogre takes a reload to fully finish off iirc.
  • If a Titan uses Electric Smoke, try to stay on long enough to rip off its panel. That way the next time you jump on you can go straight for the kill. A Stryder can be killed from an exposed panel before its deployed smoke can kill you.
  • If a pilot jumps out and need some more time to doom the Titan, jump off and throw a satchel slightly to the right to kill it. Then jump back on the auto-Titan and finish it off. A pilot jumping out of a Titan will negate your Brain Surgeon tick, even if you fully kill it. You have to jump off and back on (pre-doom) for it to count.
  • Use your auto Titan to bait traps for enemy Titans. You can also jump out of your Titan if close enough to automatically latch onto the enemy, but you run the risk of being meleed, taking ordinance to the face, or crushed. Also be aware that your auto-Titan may possibly steal your kills.
  • Burn Cards to use: Adrenaline Transfusion, Smuggled Stimulant, Amped LMG, Amped Charge Rifle, Ghost Squad, Satellite Uplink, Map Hack. Other Amped Weapon cards such as the R101C, EVA-8, C.A.R., R-97, and sidearms great before acquiring Slammer Spitfire LMG.

Likely well-known to a lot of people, but hopefully something in there is helpful

I just hope they add a new game mode in the next dlc maybe some coop play against hordes of rogue specters in a more active role than attrition.

Speaking of which, has anyone tried playing a private match where you can tweak the AI difficulty of the grunts, etc.. and see how it plays on their most difficult setting.

Is this game really so unpopulated already on Xbox One? Myself and a few friends haven't played for a few weeks - partied up tonight and it took three attempts searching for Hardpoint game before we were able to connect.

Campaign is a no-go, too.

I don't understand the slow matchmaking. I understand the philosophy behind it. It's meant to provide some kind of smooth online experience, where players don't have to worry about finding a good game.

In reality it's doing the opposite.

I love them. I want every game to have them to be honest. It shows more skill rather than time played. Imo of course

Noticed on East Coast that matches are taking longer and longer, and Hardpoint/CTF on their own tend to be very difficult.

However, that's generally from the am to early afternoon. Things usually are better in the evening and on weekends from the few times I hop on then.

Can we PLEASE have a fucking date for the 360 DLC? The first week of June is almost over and we've heard NOTHING.

The folks at Bluepoint probably won't know until they're done and submitting it. Hell, we didn't hear about the DLC's date from Respawn themselves until 2 days before it dropped.

Hopefully they'll have something soon, considering I'm expecting Titanfall DLC to feature next week at E3.

I literally am speechless that we almost lost this, I'm so, so, so, so, so tired of randoms.

Like, what will it take for me to guarantee a victory? Because I'll do it! I guess I deserve it for playing Attrition, usually I do Pilot Hunter but this was my first time playing in a few weeks so I jumped into Attrition :/

Getting the Titanfall Xboxone bundle in the mail today. After downloading the game I am jumping right in for the weekend.

Any recommendations for a newbie to First Person Shooters?

Try to play through all the Campaign if you can first, you unlock the other two Titans and it should get you to grips with movement and some map layouts.

Also don't feel bad using the smart pistol, it helps you get used to running and gunning whilst bouncing of walls and stuff.

Carbine is the best all round weapon.

I use stims as my main pilot ability, I know others don't but I love the speed boost and the ability to regen health a lot quicker. It will help you out of sticky situations a lot.

Learn to mange your shield in your Titan, it plays a lot like Halo with shields recharging out of combat. A lot of players just treat the Titan like a tank and run in, resulting in easy kills for you. Hang back and always recharge before storming in.

You can eject from your Titan at any time (down on the dpad) Lure in unsuspecting enemies then nuke em early.

Arc grenades are better than frags in ever way, satchel charges are the ultimate ordinance, just be careful not to blow yourself up.

Finally, even though the game is fast, rushing about will get you killed a lot. Keep to high ground when ever you can and watch your back as people can sneak up on you very quickly!

Edit: And always be killing grunts in Attrition! Too many players just ignore them and go for pilots like idiots. Every point counts!

Holy shit. Brand spanking new?

FRESH MEAT OVER HERE GUYS.

Haha. Start with attrition first. Get your bearings and some weapon unlocks before you hit the campaign to get your titans. Keep moving. Keep farming grunts and spectres and utilize the vertical plane in the game.

Add me. I'll game with ya. GT: Majjam

The Gen 4 challenge to get critical hits with anti-titan laser, does that mean hitting a titan in a critical spot, or dooming a titan with it.

The description seems a little ambiguous in the game.

Don't have to doom. Just hit the red flashing parts. Chances are if you hit it with that thing its going to get doomed anyway.

That's what i thought, just seems to be taking forever. i guess i need to be more accurate.

The one nice thing about that challenge is you can often get a few critical hits on a single Titan, I think even after it is doomed. Just pay attention to the people you are playing against. Some really pick up on the charge lnducator and go after you quickly so you don't have a chance to get many shots off. But in those games where nobody notices you can really take advantage.

During the match epilogue is often a good time to get some in.
