2014 Microsoft E3 Conference

I wished they would have ended with the Crackdown teaser. Just fade to dark after Phil Spencer's final words, and then just play it.

That would have been nice.

There was a bunch of stuff MIA from the conference that I thought would appear. But maybe they are saving it for Gamescom, or next year.

I have the feeling the demo of Fable Legends was misleading.

I appreciate they are trying to introduce new game mechanics, but I was really under the impression there will be a "normal" single-player campaign with customizable hero and actual main/side quests.

At least that's what I understood from D. Eckelberry's words over here, hopefully I didn't get it wrong...

Is there any site that lets you download the conference? I have a slow connection that I share and tired of buffering every few minutes.

*ahem*

No idea why they didn't close with a big trailer, and went for montage instead. Boo. Other than that, great show!

2 years looking solid with games always getting announced too.

Yeah I wondered that too, don't get me wrong, it was a great conference but it seemed like the ending thing was switched out at the last second...

I thought the conference was spectacular to be honest. No Bullshit. Nothing but games. Even the filler stuff about everyone's favorite game was fun to watch. Sony almost put me to sleep with their conference. Sucks because I was in party chat with all my real life marine buddies, and I felt embarrassed knowing they were disappointed and I was the one to blame. Seems the conference is going to make us all buy x box's. Just wish they announced a white console.

The games that interested me the most was of course halo collection, but the biggest surprise was project spark. I ignored this game when it was first shown, but watching videos of the best levels so far makes it look like to game can be great. Conker being in the game is also a plus.

I'm not sure if I would call it great since it felt like it was more of an advertisement of third party games we already knew about. It felt like they didn't spend much time showcasing their own internal content or at least time exclusive content.

As of yesterday morning I was ready to plunk money down on an X1, and this is the first time ever that a conference has left me second guessing a future purchase.

That is absolutely due to all the preconference rumors floating around, that caused my hype to reach crazy heights. There was so much talk about Phil Spencer, and the stuff they were "getting out of the way" before E3, because they must have major bombs to drop. The big exclusive third party game thread was another culprit.

The morning after the night before (well, for me in the UK anyway).

In summary, MS kept their word. Just look how many games they showed so many were great and things that gamers have been crying out for.

MS did a great job of telling us more about the what we knows. Teased the what we wants, making us want more. And the 3rd party exclusive was Platinum Games. Can it get the traction their games deserve (commercially I mean)?

There was no MEGATON (that was spoiled by all the leaks, it would have been Halo). And Conker was a kick in the balls.

There was limited time for execs on stage. No gimmicks. No awkwardness. No $499.

MS may have played things a little safe, however I want to play Sunset Over Drive, Forza Horizon. Master Chief Collection. And much more, all this year.

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare - Looked great. Initial promise may fix my COD fatigure (hated Ghosts). Can it do what Modern Warfare did to re-launch the game into an new era/direction?

Forza Horizon 2 - Nice trailer showed off what the game can do. Also free Nürburgring for Forza 5 was a bonus. Your Forza 5 Drivatar already working for you? Nice! Hopefully be some cross DLC/cars if you bought stuff in Forza 5.

Evolve - Having not paid much attention to this, I was really impressed. It is competing some big games in October/November though and with it being so heavily online, it will need a strong community to survive.

Assasins Creed Unity - A franchise that has never really grabbed me. Had the original, turned out very stale. Sequel I didn't play until it was free with Gold. This looked wonderful though and 4 player co-op is great.

Dance Central Spotlight I got one dance game, do I need another? Good luck to Harmonix with this though, hopefully it helps fund other games (RockBand)

Sunset Overdrive Loved the way the trailer, who else went "Oh, another generic Xbox shooter. Great". Then the guy kicked down the door, grinded the rails, and the SO trailer proper kicked in. Looked exactly as I hoped in gameplay. Hype level was starting to rise.

Dead Rising DLC Trailer was excellent and it was not revealed to be DR3 DLC until a fair way in (although some people may have guessed). I instantly thought of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Great name "Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition". Shame it is not standalone DLC.

Ori and the Blindforest The initial tease had me intrigued, I want to know more. I need to know more. Could be a great Indy for Xbox (exlclusive?)

Project Spark Played the Beta. Too many technical issues. Poor micro transactions/limitations. Hype level started to rise a the mention of Galaxies theme. Instantly dropped when I thought (I wonder how much that would cost).

Conker OMG IT IS CONKER DOING WHAT HE DID TO THE N64 LOGO. HE IS DOING IT TO PROJECT SPA... Oh. The hype level peaked and instantly killed. In hindsight, I am sure someone can do a great job of creating some fine Project Spark inspired Conker games. Project Spark needs to sort itself out though before it comes out of "Beta".

Halo Following instant deflation, that Halo music came on. Here we go. It has been hinted at, teased, every man and their dog knew what was coming. It still blew me away though. $60 (or £50) standard RRP for a current gen title. Wow. 100+ maps, all the modes, all the DLC, everything. Incredible. Halo 5 beta teased too? Day one.

Dragon Age: Inquisition Not seen a lot. Looked great on MS stage (not so hot on EA for some reason). Still on a high from Halo. MS have shown a lot of games. Where is the new stuff though?

Fable Legends Looked OK, still not quite understanding what it is supposed to be though. I get co-op, I get RPG's, I don't seem to quite get what this is about though.

Inside Phil talking, hyping up my levels big time. What could this be? Like Ori earlier, I want to know more. I need to know more. Show me more, tell me more!

The Division Gameplay - yes. It looks so good, I want it now. Why do we have to wait so long? Later EA trailer told the story well, intrigued. Roll on 2015.

ID A Xbox Trailer Cuphead, give me Cuphead. What is Cuphead? Teases of games we know and some don't.

The Witcher 3 Nice win for MS to have the Witcher on stage. Looked great. I've not played a Witcher game. I want Witcher 3.

KLOBB TIME Here is the KLOBB. Killer Instinct Boxer dude? OH IT IS TJ CCCCCCCCOMBO. Nice, Season 2!

??? What, another re-boot? What is this? An old franchise? Nope, still don't know... Phantom Dust! Heard great things about original, never played it. I want more.

Tomb Raider Terrible name Rise of the Tomb Raider. Still, another sequel/reboot? Come on MS, I need a NEW game. Something AAA that we haven't seen ever before or not known about. A new IP, please?

Scalebound Platinum Games exclusive? We half knew it was coming, here it is. Beats by Platinum? Blonde haired dude? What is he doing, DRAGONS! He is now using some powers or something? Dragons May Cry? This looks good!

Crackdown YES - we knew it had to come. We still don't know when. The voiceover was great, loved it.

As a gamer I was happy.
As a Halo fan I was we excited.
As a Huge Phantom Dust Fan I Was having a fucking seizure!

I was freaking out when the schools were behind Klobb. I peed myself a little when the Chopin came on.

Erm.....call me blind....but did I miss a Gears of War Announcement, or was there not one? They even talked about a gears announcement during the pre show with MajorNelson and they showed the gears logo a few times during the show.....am I missing something?

Gamescom? MS said they would be there, they already announced they would show Quantum Break as well

I forgot to add that ya I am shocked actually shocked at the offering of the Halo collection. From a gamers standpoint that kind of offering has never been done.

It is such a good deal, tell me about it. I just cannot justify spending 400 for 3 games (Sunset, Halo, and Dead Rising 3). Once it hits 300 though, the system is mine!

Best conference so far.
I don't know how I'll find the time to play all these damn games coming out in the fall. Really looking forward to more info on Scalebound and Fable Legends woot!!

The conference should have ended with voiceover guy saying, "Remember Agent, skills for kills"; a clip of the drug dealer getting smoked and fade to the Crackdown logo.

Was annoyed at the lack of Viva Piñata news.

Feel the only way to get my fix is to buy another xbox 360...

Wonder what is up their sleeve for Gamescon

Just rewatched it again, I love how completely game packed the conference is. There was never a moment that a segment is forcing me to sleep through it. I wish they will continue to be like this in the next e3.

My first post, yay!!! I took off work yesterday to watch the conferences, and it was worth it. The MSoft conference was absolutely packed with games, I just kept counting how many I would buy. I feel like I won't have enough time or money this fall to play them all.

My largest concern was with Fable Legends. I was under the impression that the 4v1 aspect was just one part of the game, and that there would still be a real campaign. I will be highly disappointed if they don't include a campaign in Fable Legends.

I also look forward to racing through the streets of Southern Europe with all of you! The HD video of FH2 looks amazing!

My personal highlights:

Phil Spencer comes off as more relatable, sympathetic presenter than Don Mattrick. I can look forward to MS E3 presentations without any reservations or some sort of bias now.

I will probably buy an XBONE for the following if they remain exclusive :
Ori
Inside
Cuphead
Phantom Dust
Platinum Games ScaleBound

Those last two aren't going anywhere else. MS owns phantom dust and I think probably owns the Scalebound IP as well(?). They could go to PC I guess but that's probably unlikely.

So based on the Halo Anniversary announcement I'm planning on getting a Xbone sometime before 11 November.

I just priced out an Xbone(w/o Kinect), Titanfall, and a yearly subscription to Xbox live. It came out to $430 with some Amazon credit I have.

Debating on whether or not to pull the trigger. Any input? Is that a solid deal? Only reason for picking up Titanfall is because I have CoD and BF4 on PS4. Figure that would tide me over to November.

So where was the big third party exclusive?

That Gamespot rumour turned out to be BS. We knew they had a Japanese game in development so I'm guessing they didn't mean that.

What sorts of things?

I can think of: Undead Labs State of Decay follow up/Quantum Break (known), LXP/Platform Next (unannounced studios anyway), more Xbox reboots?

MS didn't announce a single new internal developed game... its a concern in my opinion.

I also think that at this moment, cancelled Shangheist is looking like a bad idea, presumably it would have been demoed on stage... as excited as I am for Gears.

Shame everything got leaked.

It wasn't that exciting to me. They showed a pretty grey and brown mass of games, Sony did a better job in that regard. The opinions seem to be splitted too between EU and US - EU found it boring mostly (most people I know), people on here and GTTV (ok, those have been bribed) rave about it.

I know sites Re saying Sony won but I fell asleep. I think MS won by a small margin but it kept me watching and jam packed with games. I never played halo 1-2 and barely 3 so that looked great to me.

Sunset looks fun as hell. Scalebound intrigues me and Phantom Dust.

I'm noy huge into races but Horizon looked great too. MS excited me alot more then Sony

You may hate to hear this, but if you're going to get Titanfall, just get the bundle. If you try Kinect, you'd probably like it. If you hate it, you could sell it on eBay and come out with a better deal than the one you have above.

I feel Microsoft showed things that are too far off. Crackdown, Platinum Games New IP and Phantom Dust didn't even have a basic 2015 date in their trailers. I am guessing those games are 2016. At least Sony has BloodBourne as a 2015 spring release. Uncharted 4 slated for 2015 and Ratchet and Clank slated for 2015 with the movie. I like that both LittleBigPlanet 3 and Forza Horizon 2 got announced and releasing in the same year.

I respect your right to your own unique opinion ...

... but WAT.

Sunset Overdrive? Ori and the Blind Forest? Fable Legends? Halo Collection?

The conference was jam packed with titles with vibrant, lush colors.

Even The Division looked bright and slightly chirpy palette wise.

This is a stunning conclusion to come to Jacobi. I'm legit shook

What, why? 2015 is a more reasonable assumption, and even Spencer said the first part of the show was for 2014 releases, then on to 2015.

Pretty sure he said 2015 and beyond. Im not expecting Crackdown and Scalebound next year.

Halo 5 Guardians, Forza Motorsport 6, Quantum Break, Fable Legends, perhaps Ryse 2 or something else (Rare?) will form their line-up?

Now that the conference is over and I've had a chance to take everything in, I'm not upset about Halo 5 and Gears of War not being shown. Talk about 2 huge IP's that MS can promote heavily on down the road. I'm cautiously optimistic. At the very least, it looks like we have a few games to tide us over in 2014, and 2015 doesn't look at all anemic.

MS have at least Quantum Break and Halo 5 for 2015, so they're not in a bad position at all
