PSP Custom Firmware Thread

Yeah that was really painless and easy, now I need to start figuring out what kinds of fun legal things I can do with my CFW PSP

Rip games, enjoy PPSSPP. Outside of a few decent emulators I didn't find much interesting with PSP CFW. And a few of the things I did want to tinker with haven't been updated in years and don't seem to work on current versions.

That hasn't been true for a long time. Right now, the only thing limiting the size you can use is the size of micro SD that's available. I've got 119GB in my PSP right now.

Wow, that's insane. 120GB? I think mine is 16GB or so and it's plenty for me. What do you have in there? 2 64GB micro SDs?

After reading this I noticed my adapter is a fake, does anyone know where I can get an official one in the UK? I don't know if I should trust the £1.99 adapter being dispatched from Hong Kong on Amazon.

I got mine from Amazon about 18 months ago. I would go ahead and buy it. If you find out that it's a knockoff, you can complain to Amazon and get your money back.

You could also go to Photofast's website and look at Where To Buy link.

Why would I want to rip PSP games I own to play on my PC when I could play them on my PSP..,?

I just received the one I ordered today and it's a fake. I emailed the seller and that's all I can really do until they reply. I didn't even order the Hong Kong one, I ordered one being sold in the UK itself. DealExtreme probably won't get any in stock again, so should I just buy a regular memory stick?

Filters that make the game "clear."

The PSP has some "dithering" going on in titles like God Eater. PPSSPP removes that dithering, IIRC.

Outside of the portability and accuracy factor the emulator is generally going to be a better option if you go that route for playing titles.

Hey guys, I might get a hold of a 6.60 PSP 3000, if I install CFW on it which system emulators would I be able to run?

NeoGeo?
GBC?
GBA?
SNES?
Genesis?
N64?

If not, which PSP model should I get to run those?

NES, Genesis, GB/GBC, Neo-Geo and most GBA games seem fine.

IIRC, N64 isn't really playable except for select titles (sorry, I don't have any list or anything) and SNES isn't that great.
Anyway, there shouldn't be any difference between PSP models, except for PSP 1k having less RAM (which shouldn't bother you, since you're having a 3k).

I'm running 5.50 GEN-D3, anyone know how I can get it to the latest 6.whatever that is the most common?

The OP has a link to a guide I did a while back that I tried to make pretty user friendly. Not sure if there have been any updates since then though.

Sadly you have to google for the patch, extract the files from the ISO, patch the files, then rebuild the ISO.

Pangya has to be patched to work.

I'd like to put my new copy of Fantasy Golf Pangya on my PSP Go. I ripped the UMD, but it crashes to a black screen when I start the game and I have to do a Fast Recovery each time. I'm on 6.60 PRO-B10. My google-fu isn't finding anything other than pirate sites and vague years-old instructions.

I did find a supposed patch in an eboot that I extracted with Eboot2Iso and used UMDGen to replace the original eboot and bin files, which got it past the black screen crash, but I cannot get the game to run. I get an 80020148 error.

Any ideas?

I know I'm responding to an old post here, so maybe you don't care or maybe you do. The latest official PRO CFW build has a bug that stops PSX games working , you can either get around this using POPSLoader or by using the nightly build of PRO CFW instead.

I have a PSP-1000 since 2005, and that LCD is goddamn nasty. Ghosting everywhere. If I were to replace my system, the best one to get would be the PSP Go in terms of screen quality, right? I read the 3000 has interlacing issues and the pixel density of the Go is the best of any PSP.

I'll need different memory cards though, right? Have they figured out a permanent CFW solution on Go?

There's no permanent solutions on anything past some of the early Lite models (the 2000s). The non-permanent solution is using an installer program straight from the memory card once, and then using a fast boot program afterwards, and it persists until the PSP is powered off. No jumping through hoops or anything.

Is there any way to play games full-screen using the component cables on CFW 6.60 PRO C2? There was a FuSa plugin, but it sounds like that doesn't work anymore.

Sorry to bump but I am running a perma CFW (6.20 Pro Nightly) and I cannot get the save file for Super Robot Wars Z2.2 to work on my Vita. I heard it had to do encryption from my CFW but I don't know exactly how to deal with it.

Would anyone happen to know a way to fix this? Thanks in advance!

That's awesome. Is that two 64GB cards?

DealExtreme is OOS. Any idea where this adapter could be purchased now?

Go is great, but you need a UMD model too for it to really shine.

Is there anything that gives you an alphabetical sort option for games? Ridiculous that Sony overlooked this on both PSP and PS3 and never added it to either.

I sucked six dicks to get this tag.

Gamecategories lite plugin I believe. Great plugin don't exactly remember if it does alphabetical though.

In fact, with CFW and a similar price, the Go is much better than any of the preceding models.

I don't know. I have a 2000 and Go and I still prefer the 2000. 16GB isn't enough space for me. I like having everything on the card without having to delete and move stuff whenever I want to play it.

2000 really only has a higher maximum capacity since it can hit 64GB with 32GB microSD cards and those adapters. I doubt many people are bothering with that much space though.

Realistically the Go caps out at 32GB, but theoretically you could get to 48GB if you can find one of those mythical 32GB M2 cards that supposedly exist (edit: apparently they don't exist, they were announced/possible, but Sony killed the format before they were made).

I've got 128GB in mine and as soon as 128GB cards hit a decent price, I'll have 256GB. That should be enough for all my PS1 games, PSP games, and homebrew.

But the PSP Go has built-in memory and supports external memory too!

i like the go screen, but i actually like the ergonomics on the 3000 much better, that was the system that kept me coming back (i also liked the sharpness of the much maligned screen)

I'll never get this, the 1000, 2000, and 3000 screens are each terrible in their own special way.

Anybody know how to get Cardcaptor Sakura with Tetris working? Tried different versions of popsloader but had no luck. At best I get it to run and the Playstation logo pops up but then it's a black screen. Also can't find any information about it on any compatibility lists since it's probably a bit more obscure. I just really want a great version of Tetris on my Go, lol.

All my attempts to get that running failed. It's been a while and I didn't do much, so I can't really help you there, but If you succeed, please, let us know.
At best, I managed to get past the PlayStation logo but freeze on the first screen immediately after that (used a .bin/.cue rip; trying with a .iso rip only causes the black screen for me). My attempts at Google-Fu for a solution led me to a 2ch post that looks like troubleshooting for this game

このチートは検索していたときにたまたま見つけたものです。

Google Translate tells me this would get past the freezing screen by using CWCheat/TempAR with this code, but simply punching the code in still causes the freezing screen. Can someone who can read moonrunes tell us what does this post tells us to make the game work, please?

Yeah, there's no actual advantage to doing the permanent CFW now.

yay i just updated to 6.60 pro c2.

yeah i just looked at the whole thing and you can just run off of ofw anytime anyway.

can't wait for ff type 0.

edit: this was terribly easy. damn, it felt like yesterday with the whole pandora battery. my goodness.

I tried to CFW 6.60 Pro-C mod my new PSP Street with the same SD card I used on my (now defunct) 3000, the homebrews are working but I can't copy anything to the PSP/GAME directory in the SD card when using USB mode - all I get is a weird 0x8007045D IO error. The hell is happening ?

All I want is to play that Oriental Blue translation patch :(

I apologize if its not kosher to post this here, I'll remove it if so, but anyone interested in buying a Phat with CFW? In very good shape, I'm thinking $55 shipped and would include slip case, battery/charger of course and a 16 GB mem card. PM me if interested. I have no use for it anymore now that I have CFW installed on my 2000 slim.

You could try your luck in the b/s/t thread if you haven't already done so.

I have Digimon World 2 on my psp. I was playing it on ps3 and backing up the save on a USB drive. I think the file is a .psv format and I'm wondering how I can transfer that to the psp memory stick to continue my game?

Oh and my ps3 won't work otherwise I would have done it through that.

Were any decent MAME emulators ever released for PSP?

? Asking again because I've searched and am getting conflicting info. Is it only ok for older games like Galaga and DK or were any later emulators released that could properly handle bigger MAME roms like ESPRade (one video on YouTube seems to show this one running smooth as silk but commenters say the guy is lying), Raiden, Simpsons ect?

I did it because I didn't know how else to access the plugin settings.

Whenever I try to start games, they don't work though. I think my disc drive is dead/dying. :/
