Can't wait to try it out. From what I've seen so far (YouTube ps3 footage), this is probably going to be my best 3rd person mp shooter right next Gears of War.

Looked very intense and highly team-based, which I like. Also, players don't seem to just die in 2 shots like in Cod, but have to really fight for their kill.

All very true, the fact that teamwork is essential is the best.

I am pretty sure he read wrong but from my understanding you can determine if a game is realtime or pre-rendered by anylysing video. I think total biscuit recently made a video about why uncharted 4 trailer was real time.
Total Biscuit didn't do a video and he doesn't have the necessary knowledge to determine this. All he can tell you whether or not a texture looks good or not. ;-)

I know the video you're referring to and what he tries to answer is whether or not this is achievable on the PS4. (And it's a very informative video.)

To answer my question you would have to analyze this from a video encoding position and what the telltale signs are when analyzing encoded video within an encoded video and how that affects the end result. Completely different subject from what the YouTube guy tried to answer in his video.

What kinda of other multiplayer games do you like?

Not many since I get frustrated quickly with the more experience players kicking my ass. TLoU is the one exception where I can hold my own.

But if it's a co-op multiplayer game like the horde mode from gears of war, I'm in.

I read they're not pre-rendered
They looked real time in the e3 trailer
They said going forward, cut scenes will no longer be pre-rendered. This was in response to questions about the UC4 trailers "real time"ness.

But this is a port of an old game. Don't expect a complete rebuild.

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
Am I understanding this correctly? Cut scenes are no longer video clips, but instead will be done in real time with, with in game graphics. Should we expect the cut scenes to look significantly different?
Understanding what correctly? Who said that?

From what I know, they're pre-recording them again, just this time in 1080p/60.

They specifically said that Uncharted 4 will be the beginning of all real time.

just give it to me now

I wonder if it'll be weird to play at 60fps? Like, there are some parts of RE4 the 2BF constantly talked about being weird cause it was at 60 and not 30. Oh well, one way to find out.

It will probably feel weird if you just played the game on the PS3 or are not used to 60 FPS but it should be a much better experience. The God Teir ND animations they put so much work into should be face melting at 60 FPS

Well they're talking about not all the animations being keyed to 60FPS. Some of them are set up for 30 still so they just look super weird/fast compared to the rest of the game.

Could not have said it better myself.
Well, I'd like to add a note to each of the first two suggestions.

1. Revive carefully, because if you and a teammate run over to your downed buddy and someone throws a molotov, well...

2. Stick together, but like above don't clump together. Keep some space between your teammates as to not all be taken out with a nailbomb or whatnot.

Absolutely, I've killed some many people that way and has been done to me too. It's just nature to run over to your mate and pick him up.

How does this game compare to the Uncharted games? The Uncharted games were okay, but I didn't think the story or gameplay was amazing like a lot of other people did. It does have a charm about it though.

It's very different. Much more focused on stealth and resource management and the story is substantially heavier.

The only similarity is that is developed by naughty dog, then story and gameplay are completely different.

I personally loved the Uncharted series from a gamer and game development standpoint. The quality of the assets, animation, and general characterization were really nice to see last generation.

That said, The Last of Us definitely made it harder for me to return to the Uncharted 1 and 2 campaign, let alone the multiplayer of 2 or 3. TLOU definitely exceeded the trilogy in terms of storytelling and brutal gameplay, as well as the amount of fun I had with the multiplayer (although it was a bit different).

Uncharted is more action-packed adventure with a simple story that brings it together for some noisy fun, where as The Last of Us is much more about calculated gameplay strategy, more realistic movement, and made me feel much more sad, happy, scared, and tense during gameplay. Still looking forward to A Thief's End, though!

It's really different - in both story tone and gameplay.

My favorite difference is the lack of a cover button tbh. Was always what I hated about the Uncharted games.

Agree. The cover button forces you to be restricted in movement which is what you DON'T want in a game that involves dynamically shifting cover to cover.

I hope there's some kind of deal for existing owners so that we don't feel fleeced. Otherwise, I guess I just wait for it get to half price or so, either on sale or pre-owned or whatever. There are enough new full priced games coming out that a re-master at full price, even if it's TLOU isn't that enticing.

Fleeced? Who are you, Sonny Crockett? If you don't feel it's worth the price then don't spend the money. No one's trying to "fleece" you, and if there's ANY game they could charge me full price for a PS4 version of, it's this one (even though they're not, it's only $50). If you feel that's too much than just say that but don't say you're being shaken down or "fleeced" because that's a bunch of BS!

P.S. This is coming from a guy who bought The Last of Us on PS3 twice because I gave a copy to a friend who still hasn't played it ,damn him!. It's all about what YOU think your money is best deserving of. But don't start saying shit like Sony's fleecing you, that's just stupid.

Wow, you got pretty upset for a second there.

I just finished playing Uncharted 2 for the first time a couple of days ago and I think The Last of Us is WAY better.

I mean, people keep saying that we
people who own the PS3 version
deserve a discount, but in reality we don't. Would it be nice, yes, but sony doesn't owe us anything.

this is coming from a guy who until recently said we need a discount.

Seriously. How many times did a character almost fall of a cliff, and some one saved them by grabbing their hand just in time? I swear, it felt like it happened twice in every cut scene.

Oh, I'm on the exact same page with you man. Discount or not, I'm buying it day one. I just thought it was funny how upset he seemed, even though he more than likely wasn't. :p

I just re-bought a PS3 after going console-less for over 2 years. Should I just go ahead and buy TLOU on PS3 now?

Its getting very hard to wait mainly cause I can't play the PS4 version until I get a PS4 when the white bundle comes out. So mid-September.

I think you should wait.

You'll be able to play this game in Native 1080p, 60 FPS, better framerates, all DLC included, etc. for the PS4 version, rather than playing the game in Native 720p, 30 FPS, terrible framerates, plus paying for DLC within the PS3 version.

Yeah, it was just a really obnoxious game. I have a feeling it wouldn't be anywhere near as praised if it weren't made by Naughty Dog.

Naughty dog does have that status in the gaming community of making great games. I've always wondered how their games would be received if it was the exact same thing, but developed by a studio that isn't praised as much as ND

Well, Tomb Raider pretty much straight up ripped off Uncharted and it was highly praised. So there's your answer.

Wow, you got pretty upset for a second there.

I just don't understand the mentality of really wanting a product and then saying you're being taken advantage of because it's full price. I mean I like to get stuff on the cheap too but this type of thinking is taking the term "self-entitled" to a whole new level. Do you walk into an Apple store to buy the newest iphone expecting a discount because you have an older iphone? It's possible to get those deals but you don't just expect it to be a given. Sorry but this is the world we live in, deal with it or wait for the bargain bin, cheapskates.

in terms of mechanics, TR beats the Uncharted series handily. Of course some of that can be attributed to playing it at 60 vs. 30.

Lol WHAT?
Dense sony pony detected? Or am i wrong? Tomb Raider came long before Uncharted son.
And Uncharted played nothing like Tomb Raider did before it.
Tomb Raider 2013 on the other hand plays alot like Uncharted, only with an inferior story and vastly inferior characters and dialogue...
