Nah!
If you have played it already on PS3,
play it on Survivor Mode this time (or course without listening mode)..

I also played it on Hard on PS3 and I'm considering on what difficulty i should start with the Remaster.

I won't enjoy survivor if I won't have resources for most of the game and the gameplay will be limited to stealth takedowns only, without being able to craft bombs, smoke-bombs, traps and sometime being able to shot someone in the head with a sniper or a bow, I feel like it will get boring pretty fast being limited to only basic stealth and bricks.

Big part of the gameplay is sometimes using resources when shit goes crazy, on Survivor you will probably have to reset the encounter every time you get spotted cause you will be so defenseless.

JUST OVER A WEEK LEFT HNNNNGGG GOTTA WARM UP MY TRIGGER FINGERS

Talking about triggers, I need to put some stuff on mine so they stop that awful noise. It's usually not an issue since I play with headphones, but The Last of Us has many quiet moments, so I'd be able to hear it anyway.

Does GAF give thread of the year awards? This should be a front running contender, along with that thread where the title was slowly deleted a letter at a time until the thread itself was deleted.

Edit: holy shit I'm a member. This is a good day!

I haven't tried anything except Hard but in general my feelings are that The Last of Us' gameplay is so great because of the transition from stealth to action.

That moment when shit hits the fan and you use your resources to survive just to be momentarily happy about the won battle and then the realization that you just used your limited resources so the rest of the game will be harder is what makes that game for me.

Now the question is will the limited resources be so limited that these moments result in too many deaths or will it restrict your options in too many fights because you just don't have these options over the course of the game and less options is less fun.

No matter what in any case: Reloading upon being spotted kills this game for me. Luckily I embrace limited resources.

I don't have to unlock that right?
Nope :)
They are all unlocked!
Really, start with Survival-Mode.

Seriously, it's not that hard and you have bullets and resources.
I really had too much of them near the end, so I thought "damn, it's still to easy if you have already played it once".
So beginn with Survival Mode. And THEN, for a real challange, you can try the brutal "Grounded Mode" :)

Really, go for the Survival Mode first (you can always switch back, during the game, if it's too difficult. But seriously, don't do it!)

And deactivate the "listening mode" !!!

I agree with you completely, i feel this is a crucial part of it's gameplay and what makes this game so good, I really found the Hard difficulty quite balanced in maintaining that style of play.

Do you think I'm a noob!? I've never played with listen mode on :p

I will give "Survival" a spin, but like benny explained, it really depends if I'll have enough options on this level, I think the game will become quite boring if I'm limited too much, i want to be able to continue play and being able to deal with the situation even when i get spotted, if Survival give me that than it's great.

I'll once again voice my opinion that Hard is by far the best balanced difficulty in the game, BUT, that being said, if you already played on Hard, Survivor is worth a shot.

I'm gonna play on Grounded even though I'm fairly sure Hard is still better balanced.

I wish they would find a way to make the game harder and more interesting without removing gameplay variety. Not having enough resources to make bombs doesn't really make the game much harder when you still have enough ammo and medkits >_>

I know I shot a lot more people on Survivor than on Hard.

That's why I always recommend Hard for people playing for the first time, even if some people disagree and think Survivor is better, they will be losing some gameplay options, and won't be able to ever experience them if they start on Survivor (assuming they won't play on an easier difficulty mode later, which I don't think is very likely).

It's also the reason I love remixed enemy encounters on harder difficulties so much, it increases the challenge by tweaking and modifying the battles instead of just making you take more damage and removing some options.

I think I'll go back to Hard if I still want to replay the campaign again after I beat it on Grounded and maybe Grounded+

Grounded is brutal. I made a thread on it. Gave it a good play by play up until
I got to Tommy's dam during the Fall segment.
The battle there was just too much and I didnt have the patience. Especially given the fact I had about six or seven rounds total between all of my guns so every shot HAD to count. There was really no fucking around whatsoever. And then you have the issue that either two gunshots or a couple jabs to the face will lay you flat?....yeah. I couldn't handle it.

I knew even if I had made it past that point that
the Winter segment when you're fending off the two separate hordes with David
would've done me in anyway, considering that Runners can one shot you.

Best of luck though man. That difficulty is no joke.

Yup, dealing with a difficult situation, even when spotted. Shouldn't be a problem with the Survival Mode.
But just remember -> Simply don't waste bullets and resources when you don't really need them. If you can simply kill your enemies with a bat (near combat), than do it. And keep the bullets for later.
= Survival Mode ^^

Awesome!
Can't wait for "Grounded Mode".
Played through TLOU 6 times.
Will beat "Grounded Mode" the first time with the Remaster.

(There was no "Grounded Mode" when I've played the game)

This is (for those that aren't in the know) LaMichael James, the greatest Oregon Ducks running back of all time. Kenjon Barner is next to him but the look on LMJ's face is priceless!!

Here is an even better one from a different ride. THE TERROR! lol
