The Last of Us: Remastered |OT| Game of the Years

Honestly depends where you live. In my experience Amazon ships with UPS for release day delivery, and I've never received a game later than 5:00 pm

I got Gears 3 on Day 1 and it came at around 3PM. But the UPS drivers in my city are definitely the type who'll leave a note and leave instead of knocking.

Yeah Noon-3 is the usual time in my area. UPS is actually pretty good at my place, they'll at least ring my buzzer most of the time.

But to be on the safe side you should probably site by your window all day and keep an eye out for those bastards.

Lol I can picture myself now. But I can leave a note too, right? Just drop it in front of the door? I live in an apartment.

You live in a house or apartment? UPS always leaves every package at my doorstep if I don't answer.

Haha answered my question thanks.

That's exactly like drivers here. 99% of the time they can't be bothered to knock so they just push a note through the door that says 'sorry we missed you, blah blah, you can come pick it up at this time'.

So many games haven't arrived on launch day because of that.

Yea, just leave a note on your door. I'd be more cautious in an apartment though, never know if a passersby might snatch it up...

Golgo 13

The Man With The Golden Dong
I'm a recovering achievement whore. Getting back into PC gaming after EAS'ing from the military had mostly to do with that.

My purchases of shame in the name of achievements last-gen:

X-Blades
Damnation
Onechanbara

All for $60.

I'm serious.

It was a dark time.

I also rented and 1000/1000'd Hannah Montana: The Movie and enjoyed it by drinking heavily and throwing on the Bombcast.

Epic post. I myself am a recovering achievement whore, having looked up easy achievement games (or decided to buy a game based on the achievements) and played through terrible ones just for Gamerscore. Really, it's just a meaningless number on a server somewhere. Stuff that really shouldn't dictate anything about what you play.

That's the beauty of Nintendo, IMO. They want you to play a game because you WANT to.

Has anyone ever tried to trade in a game at GameStop without a case?

Yup...actually I went to trade in my collectors edition of Halo Wars back in the day...dude at the counter took the game out of the case...handed everything else back to me and said

"Keep this stuff..we won't give you any more extra money for it, so just hold on to it"

He put the game in a normal CD jewel case behind the register...

Yeah it's really annoying. I'll be home all day too, wondering where my stuff is, then check the door to see he snuck off somehow.

Oh yeah of course, but I live on the top floor and I trust my neighbors

You Don't Get To 1080p60fps Without Using A Few Recycled Textures
Except those all have different textures on them :)

Well, more specifically this is a technique Naughty Dog and a few developers have gotten pretty good at wherein a shape or surface rather is used to create a wall or ground and then textures, displacement maps, and so on are overlayed in various ways (rotated, mirrored, etc.) and staggered so that even the same single texture can be strewn over an area and you'd almost never realize it was used so much. It's more organic and the end result feels unique rather then simply tiling the image.

Great way to keep memory requirements lower rather than always having 100% unique maps and such having to be crammed into memory instead of putting that toward animation or other data.

If you guys own the PS3, version...any reason to keep it? I own the Steelcase one but the disk is just like chilling there. I doubt Ill ever go back to the PS3 copy after this release. For collection purposes or trade it in?

I'm trading mine into GameStop of the trade up offer turns out to be legit...no need for it to sit on my shelf...the PS4 version will always be the definitive version

I can't wait to get this, my PS3 died 3 years ago and I never got another one, my PS4 has been sitting in the box since launch. I will crack that bad boy open for this game though.

I'm keeping it for "Collection Purposes" even though I'll likely never touch it again.

Same reason I have 3 versions of MGS2 and MGS3

If you don't mind me asking, what do you do? You appear to have a pretty solid understanding of this, and as someone who knows nothing it is exciting.

Remember guys, the Gamestop tlou ps3 to ps4 upgrade promotion starts the 27th and if you have the collectors box you can still keep it and trade the game in a generic dvd case. It even states on the website "No box? Not a problem!" They will still give you the same amount.

Hmmm, can't decide if I want to trade it or just keep it. Seeing as how I can keep my Survivor Edition steelbook, there's really no reason not to trade, but I just feel like I should keep it. Decisions, decisions.

I'm not - only because I know once I jump into MP it's less likely I'll finish the SP campaign again.

Gonna knock that out first and then enjoy the MP

MP is the second reason why I'm double dipping. I'll be taking my sweet time with the SP+left behind since that will always be there.

So, what happenned to that upgrade option for those who already bought the PS3 version ? Did they just not talk about it anymore so people forget they mentionned it in the first place ?

They said they'd look into it, they never said it was happening.

Not happening. Closest you can get is the GameStop upgrade deal where you get the Remastered for $25 with the trade of the TLoU PS3 disc. Digital TLoU has no deal.

I think we're one year over worrying about spoilers but I guess linking works just as well.

I thought about it, but there are a lot of people that are going to be playing through for the first time.
