You can play the Wii version on WiiU, no?I would have considered it if it was coming to Wii U. But by the time I get a PS4 I doubt I'll still care.

How can they only do 30 FPS on current gen systems for an HD remastering of a MID NINETIES GAME!?
lol I'm out. *hugs Gamecube*This is the weakest shit ever.
This will make another nice addition to my Steam library at some point. I wonder if it'll have a texture mod made for it like the one currently being made for RE4, might be trickier since it's pre-rendered.
Please tell me I can just play in 4:3 and not have to deal with this pan and scan bullshit.
How much do you guys think this will be?

PC Master Race Edition is a must for those die-hard 60FPS ppl (Like myself):

First thought: better be an achievement/trophy for never fireing a shot (knife run)
Second: Could this be a hint that an actual RE2 Remake might be around the corner? Maybe they're getting the engine and tools up to date, ala TLOU remaster?
Also, when do the 4:3 / widescreen GAF wars start? Original intent / framing vs new framing.
Tell you the truth not sure my stance in videogames. Movies I go with the director. There might be a few places where wide screen and new camera angles / fovs might not feel right.
What's the hard line between "good port" and "remaster", exactly?
When movies release a remastered edition, that means they went back, scanned the film again and got a higher-res image.
When music releases a remastered album, that means they went back to the raw files, twiddled their knobs and mixed the audio again. The definition of remaster: "to make a new master audio recording, now usually digital, from (an earlier recording), to produce compact discs or stereo records with improved sound reproduction."
When games release a remastered video game, I expect them to render what they can at higher resolutions, and recreate what they can't. Otherwise, it's a port.
This HD Remaster is basically releasing a DVD copy of a film on Blu-Ray - but before they do, they throw a few filters over the top. Not only is it worse than the original, but it's in no way appropriate to call it a remaster.
This is an old game, not an old movie. I get what you're trying to say, but it doesn't apply.
If it were that easy, I'm sure they would go back and redo it. Chances are it's not as simple as a few clicks. There is a game tied to those images.
I think it'll cost $19.99, just like Resident Evil 4 on Steam.

I'm extremely glad i managed to entertain you, people who find entertainment in each other usually form stronger bonds.
That said, i highlighted a part, well most, of your quote so maybe you realize what you posted.
If you are ok with them spending almost no money to make a blatant money-grab that you (and i) will pay 20-30 for , so they can check out if we are willing to spend more for simply up-scaled ports of decades old games while at the other hand they should be working their asses out to at least have the japanese Deep Down beta they promised ready for this summer, then i guess we have little to discuss.
You know what? I'm not even remotely a Capcom hater. I tend to love most of their games, their latest included, and i absolutely adore REmake, but things like this give fuel to all the haters, and they are just wrong decisions.
I wouldn't put it like that. An engine designed from the ground up for working based on time doesn't really need "variable framerate support" added to it. And almost all PC engines are like that, and have been for a very long time now.not all game engines are quake
variable framerate support is something added to game engines, not something inherent in them
The enemy placement is definitely geared more towards the expectation that the game is in its original aspect ratio. This isn't a major problem on lower difficulties with auto-aim being forced on you, but it could prove to be a big pain in the ass on higher ones with it being disabled.
I hope one day The Twin Snakes gets the same treatment .
I don't recall higher difficulty modes removing auto-aim. Auto-aim is still there with the exception of the "invisible zombies" mode. Which, for the record Capcom, I hope you make an off/on toggle. Otherwise fuck you. Worse decision to have that be "auto-on" for people that 100% the game/unlock both outfits for both characters.
I forgot about that. I haven't played it since the GameCube.Unless modders somehow manage to find the original assets for the FMV that may or may not be at Capcom right now and re-render them, it's not going to be 60 fps ever.
Will the "REmaster" be technically superior (either in visuals, performance or both), than running on Dolphin with a PC that can crank up the settings? Obviously the new control scheme can't be compared.
Unless people put in the work to "remaster" the pre-rendered backgrounds, probably "impossible."
People putting work into the Bio4 textures has been doing it since WAY before the "HD remaster"/Steam port happened. That was even targeting the Wii version of Bio4 just for the sake of "easy to do" but it's been going on for two years or so now. I wouldn't expect a REbirth pre-rendered background redo to be complete for at least two-five years.
I don't think I'd classify this as true wide-screen
You'll probably wind up having to shoot more enemies off screen than before as well in this mode. You're better off sticking with the original 4:3 aspect ratio.
Unless modders somehow manage to find the original assets for the FMV that may or may not be at Capcom right now and re-render them, it's not going to be 60 fps ever.
So this is a straight up remaster of REMake? I thought those pre-rendered backrounds were a pain to give the HD treatment...or something?
I think it'll cost $19.99, just like Resident Evil 4 on Steam.
Something theoretically like this?
Character models, some enemy models, and some of the lighting I can assume will be superior. But everything else thus far I would put the GC (and thus the Wii and Dolphin I assume) ahead or the same.
Theoretically, if they can open an repackage the movie files, they could just interpolate the missing frames. Getting rid of 30 fps stutter that way... would at least be something.
