2. The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time

I never understand this. Yes, LoZ:OOT It's an amazing game, one of the best of all time, but Majora's Mask is better in any way possible (IMHO).

I prefer Metroid Prime 2 Echoes over Metroid Prime 1, but it's a significantly harder experience if you don't embrace the mechanics completely. I feel Majora's Mask is similar. People dipping into the classics might not grasp it.

I do think that if you're going to produce a list of this nature, it's probably smartest to exclude games from the last two years or so, simply by virtue of the fact that newness can cloud a dispassionate appraisal of where certain games fit into the history of the medium.

I don't know if that universally applies, but that appraisal is certainly there. But then you also have to consider a game for being innovative when it might not have been that good at actually being a game.

I'm a big The Last of Us fan, but it's not Ocarina of Time. Nothing is Ocarina of Time.

I am the exact opposite. I thought Ocarina of Time -and still think- is an overrated, boring and uniteresting game, with weak puzzles and a vast world where there is not much to do except chasing skull tarantulas. I consider TLOU to be one of the greatest games ever made. Opinions!
