Ooook I didn't expect my screen shot to show up over here LOL! Previous posters were right about me just messing around with the brightness, contrast, and saturation some. This really shows off what the Fox Engine is capable of. I think what I liked most about the pic is the film grain effect. Reminds me of when someone tries to take a picture in a dark hallway with an older cell phone or camera and flash. Here is another screen shot I managed to get but couldn't get the same effect that I wanted.

I could only catch fragments.

Talk about the last place I would have ever expected to suddenly hear a monologue in Swedish.

Sounds like the theory of starting at the phone and moving to the radio (10 steps) is the correct trigger again lol. Let your ears listen for radio might mean mic.

Happens after the window falls down

Lighting, materials, the way reflections are handled on different surfaces at different incidence angles is absolutely amazing.

Minor gripe, your flashlight fades too quickly in the distance and i'd like to see it reflected on the window at the end of the hallway, but apparently it's not handled like a 'real' light source
 
I think the reflection will always disappear if you press R3 while looking at it.

It actually seems to happen if you press R3 while just being in the bathroom, no matter what you're looking at. Probably a bug, but I thought it was part of a puzzle at first, that I had to run to each bathroom and make all the reflections disappear in a certain amount of time -- nope!

Yeah, this thing is truly awesome. Can't wait for more.

OK just had the biggest jump scare of my life. Trying again to finish this infernal game, wandering the corridor listening to Lisa wailing when there's a power cut in my street and I'm suddenly plunged into pitch blackness for 10 minutes.

FFS I've never ran for a torch as fast in my life. My heart-rate's still through the roof. I can't help but feel that Hideo Kojima had something to do with it.

Finally "beat" the teaser it looks so much better in person then on the youtube/twitch footage. I am so hyped to play the real game.

I got stuck last night. She 'killed' me or whatever happened and now all the doors are closed. I have no idea what to do now and I finally got freaked out enough after hearing her breathing directly behind me for ~10 mins.

Yep, can't wait to see more of the Fox Engine not being held back by last gen. There's even little details like falling dust particles lighting up when you shine the flashlight on them.

HA. Beat the mother humper!! GET IN YOU BEAUTY. The sense of relief is astonishing.

Still have no idea what I did:

  • Had a mic on but was not speaking
  • Torch was red
  • waited for the bell tolls then did the 10 paces (baby laugh 1)
  • wandered from the phone down to the radio
  • constant pressing of R3
  • pressed on radio
  • pressed on HELL
  • walked back to the phone pressing R3 over and over the whole time
  • Got back to the phone and suddenly second baby laugh
  • controller vibrated
  • third laugh
  • phone call
  • been chosen
  • celebrate

I beat you Kojima... you and this goddam house.

^ to be honest I think the "psychological thriller" appeared in this demo more ways than one. It handed you steps to take that would typically drive people mad, angry, and frustrated.

I couldnt play very far due to fear, but this game was featured heavily in my dreams and I haven't stopped being able to think about it. It definitely leaves an impression, it's drawing me back in to experience all of it.

What I did on final loop somewhat different then others, but mostly the same.sort of spoiler,but everyone is posting with no tags so whatever.







I went right next to clock
Watch clock until midnight
heard 12 chimes
wait until noise calmed down
Walked forward until right by bathroom
heard first cry
walked to the words I hear them calling form hell
pressed r3 and got a subtitle text of said words
went towards phone heard second laugh
stared at phone heard third laugh then controller vibrates
phone rings r3 picks up
you have been chosen is said
wait until I hear door unlock sound
exit through the same loop door
see amazing

Edit mic has to be plugged in, but I never said anything or purposefully made a noise

I'm beginning to think that it's all RNG based. You reset the loop by going through the basement door and you either get the ending or not.

Metal Gear Solid is my favorite series of all time, but I think we can all agree that Kojima's sick, twisted genius mind is a perfect match for this series.

I mean, just think. In 1998 he was mind-fucking us all in our youth, breaking down the fourth wall and making us switch controller ports to defeat Psycho Mantis. In 2001, the Patriots AI speech before the final boss fight almost completely predicted the current predicament we stand in now with the internet, NSA, invasion of privacy, etc.

Just imagine what he's capable of with Silent Hill, a series that has been turning stomachs and hurting brains since the beginning. This teaser is just a small, terrifying glimpse into what the final game will be like and I could not be more excited.

I love MGS as much as anyone but Kojima being able to cut his teeth on a new property (albeit an already-existing one) is one of the most exciting things that has happened in gaming in a very long time.

Yeah it does fade a bit too quick, almost doesn't feel like a flashlight but I can see why they nerfed it

Also I love how you can shine the light on the mirror and see it bounce back onto the wall beside it. Little details make a big difference

I never really was into horror games, I like horror movies quite a bit, and PT is definitely the scariest piece of entertainment I've ever encountered.

It makes me cringe to think about what these folks can could do with an expanded array of assets. Much poopin' of pants shall ensue.

I just listened to the PT trailer again... the music sounds a LOT like Daniel Licht's work. I'm not holding my breath for Yamaoka's involvement.

Step 4: Next haunting starts. Walk into the bathroom and stare at mirror, occasionally pressing R3 (Lisa was NOT behind me.) Giggle after the haunting sounds fade out.
Step 5: Controller vibrates. Stand still until third giggle, and go examine the phone when it rings.

The first 20 mins of this demo were very emotionally/mentally draining. My brain was telling me not to keep going but I did anyway. I don't think I've ever felt actual chills down my spine from any other game.
 
Something was in the corridor, after a deep breath I wanted to approach it, light goes out.

I'm outta here. Long time since I was scared like this. Can't bring myself to play further.

(played through re1-5, cvx and dead space 1 and 2)

I hate games where I can't take care of myself and have nothing to protect me :(
 
After watching a ton of videos and streams the order of triggers for the final part is:

1. Do something or just stare at the clock until 0:00 hits and the 12 chimes go off.
2. Walk exactly ten steps in a single direction, listen for laugh #1.
3. Walk around until you find the ghost in an area where you can walk towards her and she flings at you.
4. Stand at the position you originally found her in until the music fades away.
5. Walk to a stare at the picture of her with the hole in it near the radio, listen for laugh #2.
6. Your controller will vibrate for a good few seconds, STAND STILL, listen for laugh #3.
7. The phone will ring, walk over to it and hold R3 on it until you have been chosen.
8. Walk through the looping door one last time to "win".
*If you "fail" triggering any of the laughs after 5 minutes just walk through the looping door to reset the room.

I don't have a PS4 so I can't personally test this, but if you guys can confirm this works let me know!

I did it up to staring at the hole picture...i expected a giggle...what i got was a shit scared jump attack arghhh. But did it again and it worked!

Just gonna throw out how my final loop ended up going for anyone who is trying to work out what the fuck is going on. Got the first giggle the normal way, but seriously the second giggle felt like I got it by complete chance. On the loop where I got it I had been wandering for a good 5 mins trying to find the ghost but with no luck. Had stared at a number of things during the loop and had a mic plugged in which I was making some noise in to. Ended up getting the second giggle when I was standing by the phone not doing anything (was reading this thread for more ideas). After that the third giggle was plain sailing as it's what everyone knows.

A friend suggested the mic thing to me while streaming last night and it ended up working. I felt like an idiot staring at a phone yelling for Lisa to call me.

I'm thinking a lot about the number "204863" lately - it must have a deeper meaning. On the radio in the game they say that the "father kept chanting the number when they found him after he murdered his wife".. What if this is actually a clue about the whole "using mic will get the second giggle" theory - do they want us to chant this number as well?

I know it's far fetched, but there is also a very subtle hint about the ten steps when, at some point, a voice says something about "10 months" (don't remember the context). I'm just trying (too hard?) to connect the dots and make sense of all of this - it might all be coincidences I dunno.

I am probably looking way too much into this. After all, "P.T." actually meant "Playable Teaser" lmfao :D

Played it again, not sure if it was discussed or not, but was thinking more about how the radio announcer said "Nine Eleven" rather than "Nine One One". Has it got any meaning, or is it a simple result of the fact that it was made by japanese devs who perhaps didn't realize? I mean it's a 24 hour clock as well (which I think is in common usage in Japan?). The game (or at least the family) is American, so it seems odd they wouldn't use a 12 hour clock.

Near as anyone can guess, it's just an allusion to how Kojima was born on august 24th, 1963, or 24/8/63.
