Ryu Ga Gotoku (Yakuza) Zero Announced

Kiryu model looks terrible. They got the Yakuza 5 model, made it skinnier and called a day.

And those clothes, lol. But it was acceptable in the 80's, I guess.

One thing I like about this model. For me ever since they went to PS3 the model was a bit too fat/buff compared to 1/2.

Add this to the list of Yakuza games to play after I learn how to read Japanese. So, yay in like 10 years I will be able to finally catch up on 5/Isshin/Zero

It looks like old Kaz just lost a ton of weight from a medical condition : (
I want them to show Kaz being born with those fivehead ridges

I can't wait!!!

I loved the last 2 games even though they were fully Japanese.

Will there be more Yakuza 0 on Tokyo Gameshow?

Yeah, we'll see at least the first trailer at TGS. I'd guess we should get some gameplay mechanics details and maybe a video of some early gameplay as well.

So the story starts from the troubles Dojima clan's young errand boy Kaz caused in December 1988. No announcement for the release date yet but 0 is likely to be out in this December. Sooner than I expected.

I don't understand why they wont release these games outside of Japan. Especially, given the deteriorating state of the Japanese console market.

Do these people not like money?

Yakuza games do well enough in Japan that they don't really have to release them outside of there.

While I'd be over the moon to get the game in December I can't see it being released earlier than Feb 2015. Two Yakuza games in one year seems unlikely, even if this one is reusing assets from 5 for both cities.

I know they're using mostly the same engine and recycled assets, but damn they're efficient making these games. I wouldn't be surprised if it actually came this year.

Only two locations? Tokyo and Osaka? Disappointed.

Yakuza 1 was my favourite, so this sounds somewhat interesting.

They should just include the English subs on the Japanese disc if they are not going to bring it over. That would solve everybody's problems. I'm not even fussed about any gameplay buttons or what not. I can look them up in a FAQ. Just translate the story please.

Considering the cost to localize, I don't think they'll be making any if they release outside of Japan. It is not a cheap process.

Oh well, guess we'll see it in Feb/March then which is going to be a packed month with all the other games I'll be getting on the PS4.

Screens look really nice though, I'm guessing that'll be how the PS4 version looks which is fine by me. Also Kiryu looks better in the first screen, sorta reminds me slightly more of his PS2 character model.

I also can't wait to explore Tokyo again this time in 1080p/60FPS. I just hope the arcade has some proper 80's Sega games like Shenmue did (I want Space Harrier again, I love that game to pieces).

Yeah, I guess the store just time travels since it was in Ishin too.

Probably not going to be completely accurate to the 80's otherwise either.

I really loved the fact that in Ishin they even had an instrumental version of the theme tune when you entered the store. It was a really nice little touch!

That was really a little too goofy for my tastes, but I guess they have their marketing partnership or something.
But really, if your game is set in a certain time period, then do it properly. That goes for 1988 just the same.

Just a friendly reminder that you are all terrible and I hate you and if I were to run into one of you in the street I'd totally try to hustle and fight you then you'd beat me up and I'd go home and I'd cry and play Yakuza to cheer myself up but oh wait nop nop nop nop nop nop.

Kaz is supposed to be 20 there? Reminds me of that Cromartie High School anime, where all the students were 16 or thereabouts, but physically looked like they were in their 30s and 40s. At least in that it was intended as a joke. I wonder if he'll be voiced by Kuroda again. That's going to be weird.

Yup, still Kuroda.

Not that I'd accept anyone else in the role, since Kuroda always does a sterling job, but for a man who's almost 50, he's going to have a hard time convincing me as a 20 year old. Or not, if he can manipulate his voice in the right way.

This thread is making me sad.

I guess I'm going to have to pick up those Japanese lessons again so I'm ready for the Gaf topic arguing about Kazuma's cyber-implants.

Yeah. they need to make them look younger.

Kiryu look still look like if he is 35+ years old and Majima look like he is a 40 years old Hiroyuki Sanada.
