Whatcha think The Evil Withins Metacritic score will be?

Im thinking more like low to mid-80's.

The game looks solid. Sure , its not pioneering, but it is a quality title.

Like around 83 or 84. Could go down to high 70's or high 80's, but I don't see it going out of that range.

I was dead on about Watchdogs meta critic score from that one thread, so I'm not sure people will like my prediction for The Evil Within...

57.

Since I am sitting down, I will share some impressions will add more when on my computer.

I played chapter 9 on PS4.

The game is very atmospheric and bizarre. One stand out is when you go to the upgrade room. There is a hospital receptionist there who tells you make sure you use the green goo. The main character reminds me a lot of RE4 Leon. It's how he addresses things in the world. He's mocking it similar to how Leon did. I dig it.

Also the game doesn't hold your hand. I died a lot, and a lot of people left the stand because they didn't know what they were doing. I had a general idea since I watched the demo before. It was very easy to get lost while playing. Aiming is fine when you have distance, but it's almost impossible to hit something very close to you with anything but a shotgun.

I have to say the most impressive thing about the game. The enemies seem to be randomly generated. A room I was killed in was completely empty when I re spawned. A clear room before now had an enemy in it. This I think will add a lot of replay ability to it.

The one annoying thing about the game is the random spawning of the hooded figure. If he touches you your entire health bar but a sliver is gone.

Performance wise it's cleaned up compared to previous showings. My friend played the demo on xbone, he said he noticed some input lag. I didn't feel it on ps4.

I enjoyed it. If you liked the tone and gameplay of re4 or even the gameplay of tlou, you will probably enjoy tew.

I can also share impressions of far cry 4, the order, evolve, sunset overdrive, mortal kombat x and shadow of mordor if you are interested.

Evolve, fc4 where my favorite things to play, but I enjoyed everything else except the order. The demo for the order was incredibly poor. I will go into full details on all the games later when I get home. Still at the show.

I also watched a demo on AC unity played by a dev. I asked him about the delay, he said it was to clean up the pop in, which was very apparent in the demo.

If you have any questions about any of the games ask away.

I think 80+ definetly isn't to be considered crazy. I have no doubt some reviews will score it as such. Even if they are in the minority.
Oh, I agree that there are going to be some reviews that will give it 80+, but I heavily doubt the average is going to land in that region. I have a feeling that this is the sort of game that will split opinion with critics, especially after certain impressions and previews.

Thanks. Out of all the games you played, where would you rank Evil Within in terms of anticipation?

Thanks for those! I've sadly not been able to get my hands on any playable version whatsoever. Retail release it is. o_O

4th best.

1) evolve. That game is so good. Believe the hype.

2) far cry 4. Elephants are really fun.

3) shadow of mordor. Real sleeper hit. Not a fan of Lotr, but wow that game was fun

5) MKX

6) sunset

7) cod

8) order

Can't comment on AC since I didn't play it.

I'll go into details on everything later today. Promise. Will take pictures too.

It's a horror game with nothing new on the plate: 72.

I don't really understand comments like these. I mean, I get it but having not actually played the final product, how do we know it won't bring anything new persay? And what would be classified as new to begin with?

Nice - I'll take it since I don't think a show floor is the best place to experience a game like Evil Within (coming in at ch. 9). I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Also, Evolve has been getting consistently great impressions from people. Not happy about the delay.

Also - if you're going to expand on all these games you played you should probably create a new thread as I'm sure a lot of people outside this topic will be interested to read your impressions.

Thank you so much for your impressions. The randomized location of the enemies reminds me of RE: Revelations and will help me stay on my toes. I'm predicting a 79 metacritic.

Alright GAF!

For all of you that have gotten a chance to know me over the years, know I love horror games. You probably also know that lately I've been hyping myself up for The Evil Within since the announcement and won't shut up about it and as the release date approaches, the excitement is building. The last game I was THIS pumped for was Alan Wake and regardless of wether you liked it or not, I've played it about 7 times since release. So call it a warm and fuzzy feeling I get that I think The Evil Within will be fantastic. I have no ties with the game, I don't work for a community for them, I'm just a huge horror fan, I love Mikami's previous works, and I feel confident.

Let's take it one step further though. What do you think the metacritic rating will be on this bad boy. I'm willing to guess the average of it will be 77% or above. Not that I don't have faith in the game, but the genre is very touch and go for people! So let's take it EVEN ONE MORE STEP FURTHER! My feelings are so strong on this that if I'm wrong, I'm willing to eat massive crow. Not sure how yet... possible ban my account for a week? Make me do something ridiculous on my youtube channel, I don't know yet but I'm ready and willing to eat that crow nice and piping hot if it gets anything worse then that.

So with that all said. What do you think the average metacritic score for The Evil Within will be? Any guesses? Will I be eating said crow?

I think you gif just sold me on this game (if it's coming out on PC)

73, journalists will say it's derivative and Shinji's done much better. The game will be loved by the fanbase though, not represented on the user scores however due to people either going 10 or 0 for no reason.

Still want to play it though. Some of my favorite games were panned by critics.

Yep, my favorite game from 2012 has a 76 on metacritic, that site and reviews don't really mean shit to me when stuff like Bio Infinite or GTA4 have 94 and 98.
