Twist

Aja is doing a new cover causing the book to get delayed for another 6 months until Annie Wu steps in and finishes it up.

I will totally buy that and Uncanny Avengers and the hypothetical Aaron Thor Omnibus that is obviously coming.[/spoilr]
The question now being where does it end? Will it include Thorita?

Parallax

best seen in the classic "Shadow of the Beast"
I don't really think Pym or Cho are going to join the Illuminati, Hickman hasn't used them at all in either book and he's pretty good about not pulling shit out of his ass. If anything they're probably part of an alternate earth that gets blown up by The Cabal.

not to join the illuminati, but to try to help with the earth issue. its bigger than the illuminati.

Wait, does that mean Uncanny Avengers is ending? Or is it just going to be an incomplete omnibus like the one for Fraction/Brubaker Iron Fist?

I'm going to go ahead and say that the reboot is a go. Uncanny is definitely ending, and it probably ties in with the aftermath from Sixis.

And speaking of the reboot, I have a feeling that it's going to be a story arc in the Marvel universe, and not an actual New 52 style refresh. I think everything will "reset" and these characters will eventually put the pieces back together that they existed before and that their origins are wrong.

I think Marvel will go meta.

Yes Uncanny Avengers will end with 25 and will be relaunched after AXIS with another title speculatively called
Astonishing Avengers

Edit:
I knew I should have waited with all these hardcovers and paperbacks. Oh well.

Looks like there's a Hawkeye one coming out too.

Marvel better still release the next OHC -_-

Ends with Thor, 2nd begins with the new Thor.

I read the first issue of Stjepan Šejić's Death Vigil for Image/Top Cow. I just love his work. His art is so beautiful and he does some of the best subtle character expressions. His writing is legitimately funny and I find the story interesting. His characters are likable and they are people I want to root for. The first issue is 48 pages or something like that.

Check it out. He deserves more love.

Continuing the Avengers 34 talk:

How is Cap going to break the news to everyone?

"Yeah, I was part of the Illuminati, making world changing decisions that we didn't think all of you deserved to know and hording infinity gems. Then the others decided to do something I didn't agree to, and mind wiped me when I told them that I actually make the final decisions in any team I am part of. Now all of you have to follow my lead and take them out. How dare they make decisions for everyone?!?"

Kipp

but I am taking tiny steps forward
Marvel better still release the next OHC -_-

That was my first thought too. I will be so mad if they don't.

Also, that $99.99 MSRP for a 552 page book is pretty hilarious.

Edit: Looking at the "Recommended" books, I saw that Fraction's Fantastic Four is getting an omnibus... I thought that wasn't well-received?
Also, Hickman's Avengers and New Avengers are both getting OHCs!

Related question: Does Hickman's Fantastic Four run tie into his Avengers stuff at all? Like, if I plan to read both FF and Avengers eventually, would it matter which of those I read first?

Second edit: Lastly, looks like the MSRP of Simonson's Orion omnibus is only $75! I think with the inevitable $42.50 price point on IST I'll be grabbing that. That's just cheap enough that I can probably ignore my small doubts about how much I'd enjoy it.

At this point i don't know if i even want to get vol 2 of Hawkeye OHC.. i always regret buying OHC of things before the run is over.

Tony admitted doing it in avengers 31 iirc( the start of this arc) before all the time travel stuff

They haven't really been a part of the story so bringing them in at this point would feel like an asspull if they came in and solved everything. If they were going to be a part of the story then Hickman would have had them on the huge Avengers roster. It's too late in the story to bring in new guys is what I was saying.

Also looking at the art from the next New Avengers it looks like Namor's realized what he's released on the multiverse and that enlisting Thanos and co's help may have been going too far.

I don't think I'm gonna buy the Uncanny Avengers omni, but I'm definitely getting this. This way I can loan out my trades to get more people to try it!

Just got back from my boy's birthday party and I gave him my extra copy of Batman and Son. He's only read a few things so I'm trying to get him into more stuff. Hopefully this will get him to check out more Morrison stuff.

Have any of you guys read Alex + Ada? Wow wow wow :O It's soo good guys, so good. It actually reminds me a lot of the movie Her, and not just the AI personality, but the premise and personality of the main character.

It might be my wife's most anticipated book every month Always reads it first when she gets her stack. I'll read it one day.

I picked up the first volume from the Luna Brothers sale not too long ago and was very impressed.

I hope they make deluxe hardcovers for it. :3

I almost took my roommate to task for getting me the wrong Red Sonja cover (Frison or else!) but he got me my comic artist waifu, Emanuela Lupacchino's variant that I didn't know existed, and all is forgiven.

Jae Lee continues to baffle, confuse and entice me to with his art. Batman/Superman #13 was no exception.

I've been meaning to check it out. One of my dark and shameful anime admissions is having seen all of Chobits
and liked it
and it seems pretty similar.

Well, I look at it this way:
You're talking about people who have come up with batshit insane solutions to batshit insane problems before. And the only idea that they can come up with is to blow up the other planet? You have the technology and power to blow up entire planets, crossover dimensions, the list is endless. It's comic book dumb that they can't think up other dumb comic book solutions. If the problem is the two Earths colliding then stop the collision. Crisis averted? Or evacuate everyone to a different alien world, blow up their own Earth and never worry about an incursion again because there is no Earth to be collided with.

Tangent to your point: I find it fascinating though that people comment about DC being grimdark when Marvel is the one with heroes who murder worlds.
Alternatives were mentioned by Franklin Richards (including a second earth) as having failed, with destroying worlds being the only one that succeeded. The only thing beyond that is just to let the Earth be destroyed.

Uhm all those points are raised on very early. First arc. Before it get's bad. Hickman set it up to be a no win situation for the New Avengers.
Black Swan tells them that their are worlds where the heroes evacuate Earth and destroy it afterwards. It's known as the way of the cowards according to swan, one of the many solutions to the problem, but it leads to further complications (which were also written down). The multiverse is dying. If you cut yourself off, you have no chance to fix the problem of the dying multiverse and your universe will end before it's naturally expected death. The illuminati were hoping to stall, hoping to find the source of the problem before it ends in the catastrophe that just went down.

The real problem with Hickman's story is going to be how he resolves it without making them all look bad. Currently Cap is the insane old raging man. Which is okay. But if he finds a solution or a solution is found outside the New Avengers group it will destroy this characters. And to be honest that's like destroying 3-4 franchises for the short term.

And it's nothing new that Marvel goes into dark places. Hank commited genocide only a few years back... and he is still the funny fury blue Beast.

I think DC simply needs to speed up their storytelling in a way to move away from the "grim dark" conotion: Hickman wrote close to 70 issues of Avengers in 2 years (A, NA, Inf) that offered much more sense of progression and the heros winning the day sometimes. Johns did 45 issues of Justice League (JL, JLA + FE) in 3 years and seldom did it feel like the heroes won. Maybe the problem was that half of the time he built toward an event that took 3 days in universe (Trinity War + FE) made us wait one year and offered mostly gruesome mutiliations and killings as main selling points.

Coming back to the Marvel Illuminati stuff, Hank has to be one of the biggest hypocritical assholes I've seen. He always tears Cyclops a new one for one mistake he made as the phoenix while he continues screwing around with the timeline/illuminati/mad scientist stuff etc etc. I hope someone tears him a new one soon. The watcher bitchslapping him in the annual a few months back was a good start.

It's more fun than 90% of the DC and Marvel comics you kids read combined.
Which incidentally is the amount of DC and Marvel comic series I don't read~
...and they EU cover is slick~

Sure, it starts off innocent enough, then after reading through the Archie catalogue you end up making this:
