Met Tony Todd. Don't get many celebrity types in Erie, PA but I was working at our mall one day and was randomly walking pass the setup they had promoting the "Eerie Horror Fest" that happens here once a year and eventually noticed that Tony Todd was their for autographs and more or less in support of the Eerie Horror Fest that year.

Talked to him for a few minutes and got his autograph. Seemed like a pretty nice guy. He probably wasn't making much money up here in Erie so he was probably doing it for both fun and for the fans. Pretty cool!

Ted Simmons when he was still a player.

Jerry Baker, who had a gardening show on TV

That formerly famous Cajun chef that said "I gay-run-tee"

Rhaknar

The Steam equivalent of the drunk friend who keeps offering to pay your tab all night.
err I guess?

I met Lima Duarte when I was a kid, a famous brazilian actor. He was in Portugal and in town and stopped by the bookstore my mom worked at, and I was there and asked for a autograph. Aparently he was a regular when he came to Portugal

and I met João Moleira, a Portuguese news anchor that only Portuguese people would know when he stayed at the hotel I work at. The cleaning lady was starstruck which was funny

not exactly A list material :/

I've met way too many by virtue of working at conventions that I took pics with. I'll try to list as many as I can but not elaborate on all of them since it'll take me ages to write this post what with a few keys messed up on this keyboard.

NYCC 2011 (first year working there):
-Junot Diaz- He walked into my path as I was working the Capcom booth. Coincidentally, I happened to have my hard cover copy of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao on me that I had been reading for an English class. I called his name, poured my heart out on how much I loved his books and how proud he makes Hispanics. He signed and personalized my book, we took a picture, and had a conversation. Meeting him made my day. I've met him twice and he's an awesome guy that's incredibly intelligent to boot. Only need one more book for him to sign and all I'll have all 3 of his books autographed.
-Robert Kirkman- I wasn't a Walking Dead fan at the time so I was mostly indifferent to him but he was a nice guy. I was helping manage his line.

NYCC 2012:
-Ben Folds Five performed inches away behind a bunch of coworkers and me. It was surreal.
-Carlos Ferro (Dom from Gears of War)-I was oblivious to him at first since I kept hearing a guy saying "Sup bitches?" from nearby booth that it was drawing a crowd. I got closer, looked at him quizzically as I made eye contact with him and asked "Are you you Carlos Ferro" to which his eyes lit up and he gave a million dollar smile and said "That's right" and shook my hand like a boss. Such an awesome guy. I also met m0dus and SouSouRocket and walked around with them for a while. He signed SouSouRocket's COG soldier shoulder piece and posed for my pictures.
-Chris Wells (Character Designer at Epic Games; designed Anya for Gears 3)-Another awesome guy. Game industry people are pretty humble people.

NY Wizard World 2013:
Took pics with:
-Jason David Frank-super down-to-earth and humble; signed my shirt.
-Bob Camp (Ren and Stimpy creator)-So awesome; he drew a Stimpy drawing on my Volunteer shirt. Had a good conversation. His grandson was a cool dude. Took pics.
-Anthony Michael Hall (The Breakfast Club)-Super humble as well; signed my shirt, shook hands, and took pics.
-Henry Winkler AKA The Fonz-Super nice and humble.
-Ray Park AKA Darth Maul-Another awesome dude. He's pretty buff but it makes sense for the type of roles that he gets.
-Norman Reedus-Signed one of my sketch books. Such a boss.
-Michael Rooker-Another boss guy.
-Danai Gurira-She flew out to NY for one day and super nice. She's awesome
-Saw Chandler Riggs but his parents were against having people speak to him so wasn't able to say hi.
-Saw Lauren Holden
-Was inches away from Vincent Pastore
-Greg Horn (comic artist)
-A few other artists; Amy Reeder, Mike Lily, and a few others.
-Saw a bunch of Volunteers escort Stan Lee into his photo booth as they yelled no pictures.

NYCC 2013:
-Joe "Joe Mad" Maduriera- I was super excited to meet him that I brought both of my Darksiders games for him to sign. He looked at my sketchbook and gave me advice. Spoke to him at length, took pics; awesome guy.
-Jason Narvy (Skull from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers)--He was inches away from me after Autographing ended for the day but I was too tired to speak to him and say hi but he was cool.
-Saw John Barrowman cause a huge hype wave as going towards his autographing table
-Was inches away from Ernie Hudson as I was managing his autographing line
-Jason David Frank passed by me on his way to his autographing session
-Christopher Jones (comic book artist)-We follow each other on Twitter so I met him in person. Super cool guy and very laid back.

Other celebrities:
-Ben Stiller- Apparently A Night in the Museum sequel was being filmed in front of the Museum of Natural History that we couldn't get through. I started walking towards 79th and Central Park West when I heard a bunch of teenage girls screaming. Apparently, Ben Stiller was walking towards the set being swarmed by teenage girls. We made contact, nodded our heads in acknowledgement and continued along my merry way.
-Saw the cast of Judd Apatow's Trainwrecked a few months ago including Amy Schumer and Judd Apatow himself since they were filming on the Central Park Entrance by Columbus Circle on 59th street at night. A huge swarm of tourists and locals struck around taking pics.
-Neil Strauss-PUA guru/Author of The Game at one of his signings in NYC for Rules of The Game. Told me to fix my posture, and to read his book. He was nice otherwise and short to boot; was flanked by two hot Asian girls he was with.

Game Industry folks:
-Seth Killian-at a NYC Capcom Fight Club event for Super Street Fighter IV. Took pics with him. Awesome guy.
-Rey Jimenez (Capcom Producer)-Super humble guy. Spoke at length and took pics. He was hammered which was hilarious. Told him I was a huge fan of God Hand to which he told me that Shinji Mikami signed his copy. I was so jelly.
-The Giant Bomb crew at PAX East this year-It was my number one goal to meet them. I was successful. Met and spoke to Vinny, Jeff, Brad, Drew, and Patrick on the night when they had a bar meet up; spoke to them some more and took pics with them after their panel on Saturday night and took pics plus had them sign my badge and helped Matt Rorie throw out Pwnmeal during their panel; spoke to them again on Sunday after their Wrestlemania 2000 tournament including Alex. All of them were super awesome to talk to. Jeff had me rolling with rolling with laughter, Vinny was charming and charismatic as sin, Brad was a boss; Drew was laid back; Alex was super chill; Patrick was super cool; Matt Rorie was humble to work with us Enforcers that he thanked us. They really love their fans more than anything else as it showed.
-Stephen Totilo-super nice.
-Jason Schreier-another awesome guy; met him at Barcade.
-Drew from Gamespot
-Bryan Crescente-Many times at events I've worked at but never spoke to him
-The 5th Cell developers during the Scribblenauts launch party at Nintendo World including Jackson who was super awesome and their Technical Director, Marius.
-John and Brenda Romero at Games For Change 2 years ago. Super awesome and happy couple; took pics with them, spoke to them at length.
-Feep and DM_Uselink at PAX East this year

A bunch of GAF members including EviLore, the aforementioned m0dus and SouSouRocket, Tashi (now at 343 Industries), a crap ton of others. A bunch of other comic book artists and Microsoft corporate suits.

I saw David Blaine the magician before he was famous in Manhattan. Dude is the real deal, he didnt even have a film crew, he was just doing magic for a crowd. This was before cell phone cameras. Then after 15 mins after we were watching him, he just walked away... very mysterious guy. He is amazing, he took someones watch off without any of us noticing. He also made a quarter go into a beer bottle, that couldnt fit in. So many people were just walking by him, thinking it was some touristy thing. I'm not a tourist but because I was like 12 years old at the time me and my mom stayed and watched.I love his tv specials

Met Al Pacino outside of a hotel in New York City about four years ago. I was 18 years old.

I was standing outside the hotel on the curb, trying to call a cab to go meet my father. I was by myself, and this old crazy dude came out from the lobby and stood next to me and said "Hhelloooooo, where are you headed?" He was by himself. I told him I was headed to meet my dad for lunch. He turns to me and says, "That's good. I like that. Make your dad proud."

Then he talked to be for a bit about what I was doing with my life, what I was studying in college, and what I wanted to do with my life. He gave me some wisdom, then he called me a cab.

Cab driver turns to me as we're driving away and says "You know that was Al Pacino? He could be in my cab instead of you."

Blew my mind. I thought he looked familiar, but I didn't recognize him. He wasn't with anyone either. I thought it was just some old Jersey Italian that decided to impart his wisdom on me. Life lessons from Al Pacino are priceless.

But other than that, I haven't particularly met a lot of super-mainstream celebrities outside of music. Dallas Green (of City and Colour), Cater Beauford (drummer for Dave Matthews), and Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver) are some really cool musicians that stood out to me as being really friendly and having really unique personalities. I had a chance to meet Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) last year, and we've been friends ever since. He's a super nice guy.

Amazing. Totally heard Al's voice in my head when reading the quotes. In my imagination he was wearing a giant fur coat.

Dunno how many of these are familiar to you guys, but here are some encounters/conversations I've had:

Yasutaka Nakata (the second time I ran into him, he said he remembered me)
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu
Kashiyuka (Perfume)
kz (livetunes)
Akimoto Kozue

Let it be known that 2 names of that list are two of my biggest idols!

And uh as for non-Japanese celebrities, ...I share the same birthday with David Letterman, if that counts?

Oh wait! I did once run into John Malkovich at McDonald's in Frankfurt's airport.
I also regularly run into this guy at various events, since we have a lot of common friends (he once laughed very hard at my dick joke) and he always greets me when he sees me! Awesome guy.

My dads friends told him that christopher walken was in a brooklyn italian restaurant on drugs face first in his spaghetti. Its hearsay but i dont know if i should believe it.

Amani Toomer - was really awesome. Invited me and a friend to a cookout or something but we thought it would be kinda weird to go.
Robert Redford - Almost ran me over with his cart. lol
Chris Farley - Saw him at a restaurant when i was little and we were on vacation. Had a hot girl on each arm and was definitely drunk. Was really friendly, smiled and waved to me when we were leaving.
Edward Norton - Was on an elevator with him, could tell he really didn't want to be bothered so I didn't say anything.
Milla Jovovich - Beautiful and was really cool, laughed a lot at our stupid jokes.

I met Pete Holmes after a show. He seemed super-friendly, even signed my copy of his album with a wonderful comment. He was also drinking a white wine, which I found to be oddly delightful.

In my line of work I meet celebrities constantly. (I work for a major record label)

If its one thing I've learned its that celebrity is more a state of mind than social status.

Just because the majority of people place these people on a pedestal doesn't mean you should too, and hey they'll respect you more for it too.

Pauly Shore at a signing for Pauly Shore is Dead. We were just going to Hastings and he was there. Shook his hand and took a picture with him and got his autograph, he was wearing sunglasses the whole time so I think he was stoned. It was inside...lol

I dunno if you'd call Voice Actors celebrities, but at an anime convention I attended last year I got to meet Sean Schemmel, the English VA of DBZ's Goku. He was one of the advertised guests, but I actually was lucky enough to catch him during some of his down time. I recognized him standing against a wall, holding a 3DS.

I went up and asked if it was him, and sure enough it was. Dude was super nice. We started talking about games for a bit after I noticed he was checking his 3DS StreetPasses from the con attendees, we were both eagerly awaiting Animal Crossing New Leaf, which wasn't out yet at the time. He started laughing and said, "Check this out, check this out. This is amusing the hell out of me every time I get a Streetpass. I changed my streetpass message." So I looked down at his 3DS.

A Mii walks up to his gate. "Hi I'm Kayla from Ohio, nice to meet you!"

Sean's Mii replies, "I have a boner."

And another Mii. "Hi I'm Steven from Michigan! We've met 2 times now!

"I have a boner."

I still get a huge fucking kick out of imagining everyone checking their 3DS and probably getting offended or some shit thinking it was some immature kid or something, when in reality it was the voice of fucking Goku, who they had likely paid money to come to the convention to see.

15 years ago I met Amy Grant (very briefly) and some members of DC Talk (Contemporary Christian group) at my cousin's wedding. Both seemed nice.

It was in Nashville so I'm sure there were other music industry people there but I didn't recognize any others.

Seriously? That's like every Christian's dream come true. I listened to them as a kid. DC Talk, the Newsboys, and even MXPX. I've never met any of them. Michael W. Smith has been in town on occasion, but the religious network up here is like a repetitive tangent that never goes away. Those guys cost a fortune to go see in concert and you can also get tickets to go backstage too. I've never taken them up on it. I did write to a bunch of them when I was a kid. Half of them sent me real autographs.

The members of Imagine Dragons seats were right next to ours at a Cubs game at Wrigley Field last year.

Also ran into Mila Kunis while grabbing lunch in downtown Chicago. She was here filming Jupiter Ascending. What's funny is that I didn't even recognize her at first, I just heard her voice and started looking around for Meg from Family Guy. lol

2 pro boxers:

floyd mayweather- super chill dude. ran into him while wandering vegas with my family a couple years ago. we had to do a double take but sure enough it was him. he noticed we were starring at him and he called us over. told us he was waiting for his girl to finish up shopping and had someone on his entourage take the picture. nice dude, wasn't what i was expecting at all.

manny pacquiao- another chill dude. family friend said they were close friends. family friend came over one day with manny and we all just talked about random shit. my mom cooked beef curry for everyone (kare-kare). super chill dude. his english isn't as bad as it seems, i think he just gets nervous when he's giving interviews.

underground hip-hop duo:

blue scholars (both Geo and Sabzi)- my sister's friend is actually really good friends with geo. there was a pre-party at her friend's house and my sister took me and my cousin along. i've never been star struck before; i just stood there listening to his conversation with my sister and her friend. he would try to strike up a conversation with me and my cousin but we didn't know what to say because we were still in star struck. it was such an awesome/awkward night; my cousin and i were dubbed "stiff guys" by everyone else.

TAJ

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
I've had brushes or brief encounters with probably hundreds.
But the only people who are even close to celebs that I've had long one-on-one conversations with were James Gunn, in the late-'90s and Darryl Strawberry in the early-'90s. The only other one in that category that anyone on GAF might have heard of was John Gaeta in 1995. Gunn was like a GAFer, I guess? (in a good way) Strawberry was incredibly friendly and made my day. Gaeta was cool and interesting.
The only notably negative encounter I've had was with Tony Gwynn. What a fucking megaprick that guy was. I was like 11 and smiled and waved at him and told him what a great game I thought he had.
"I'll bet you'd like to have my autograph." (fake-nice)
"Yes, please, sir."
"Then go buy it at the Padres Clubhouse, bitch."
Kevin Smith (the director, not the actor) bumped me pretty hard and didn't say anything but he was in a huge hurry to get somewhere. Like scrambling.

Charles de Lauzirika, DVD and Blu-ray producer. He was in charge of releases such as the Alien Quadrilogy/Anthology, Blade Runner, and Twin Peaks.

Incredibly friendly guy. Very knowledgable and passionate about his work and movies.

You know how every city has two long-term news anchors that are just kind of the face of the news in that city for years and years?

The female anchor (Linda Steele, formally of Global News in Edmonton) gave me the stink eye in a big, bad way when I was like 7.

That's sadly the closest I've come.

i used to work at disneyland, so i've seen quite a few. my only interaction with one was with snoop dogg. as he passed by to enter the attraction i was working, he gave me a high five and said "hey mike, how's it going? I haven't seen you since high school."

I couldn't tell if he was high or fucking with me. or both.

then his kid must have asked if i really knew him because i heard him go, "yeah he knows me. hey mike, what's my name?" after i said "snoop," he goes, "see, he knows me."

i love his artwork

Now you're talking to me baby. That I like.

Bill Nye.

Twice, actually. He was pretty chill both times. Got to chat with him a bit the first time, second time he had a whole line of people waiting to see him.

I also met J.K. Rowling when I was eleven, but I was so stunned that the only thing I could think of to say was to ask her how to pronounce Hermione's name. She told me and then I had to get out of the way to make room for the next ten bajillion people behind me.

Those are pretty much the only ones I think anyone would know. Met a bunch of authors, and a few comic book writers, but I don't know if they even count, really.

One of my friends does have the story where she almost tripped over a guy in a wheelchair... and then looked down and saw that it was Stephen Hawking.

Oh, I should add a funny story about me meeting Adam West...

Firstly we were at a Con afew years ago in Vancouver. My girlfriend sees Alan Ruck and asks him to talk to a friend of hers on the phone who is weirdly the biggest Ferris Bueller fan I've ever met. He talks to her, she's freaking out, a good time is had. Super nice dude.

Same Con, a minute later, I look across the way and I see a line up of about 15 people to speak to Adam West, with his agent standing beside him collecting cash like the most stereotypical agent you've ever seen. Shades while indoors, shirt unbuttoned at the top with a slight pop to the collar, beige sportscoat, curly blonde and grey hair with the doucheiest soul patch below a big shit-eating grin like he's a Batman villain during a thus-far successful bank heist. The table next to them? Burt Ward. Ain't nobody wanted to talk to Burt Ward. lol

Anyways, my girlfriend tells me to see if I wanted to talk to him. I sorta did, but I thought it'd be funny if he left a message on my buddy's phone. So I go up there, and ask him if he wouldn't mind talking to my buddy or leaving a message. His agent jumps in the way and is just like "No no no no no! Sorry, no recordings. Photos or autographs only!" Meanwhile Adam West is looking at me with the saddest face like "I-I-I want to, I really do. He's just not letting me!" while gesturing to his agent. I'm not too hurt, and just go "It's cool. Thank you though, big fan of yours when I was a kid. Good to meet you!" And as I'm walking away he's still calling to me going "Really! I'm so sorry! I really wanted to! I did! Tell your friend I'd love to be able to talk to him!"

It might be the most bizarre encounter I could've had lol

I met Dave Grohl behind a concert venue, he signed my stomach and ticket and told me to never show again. Talked to him a little bit too, nobody else was around haha. Super chill dude.

Also saw the fat guy from bowling for soup and met Avril Lavinge's band. Avril herself didn't want to come out of the bus lol, her band got out and she waited till the bus went inside the venue to go out.

I think I've told this story before but Sandra Bernhardt hit on me once when I was a waitress at a nice restaurant.

edit: Worth mentioning she had someone else with her at the time too. Also I was hit on by an actor from a show on HBO while working the same job. I was in a relationship at the time otherwise I would have totally would.

Pics or it didn't happen.

My most recent run in was with John Salley. Former Bad Boy, 4x NBA Champ, and funny man was wondering the crowd at the Budweiser MIA festival in LA. He was pretty laid back, taking pictures with people, and enjoying the vibe from the music. Iggy was about to play next and asked him who's performance are you looking forward to when he jokingly replied, "I'm looking forward to some Frank Sinatra." He stared listing other classical musicians like Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, and others names before my time. You're always bound to find someone famous over here in LA.

I used to work at the Warner Bros Studios commisary a few years ago so I've had a number of encounters with celebrites. These are off the top of my head.

I met Zach Galifinakas while they were doing the Hangover. I complimented him on his stand up which was how I recognized him, he was nice.

I had a brief conversation with Kelsey Grammer and was surprised that he doesn't speak like Frasier at all, he seemed really laid back.

I used to take orders from the Two and a Half Men cast and crew. One time I had to escort a woman out who forced her way into the dining area to see Charlie Sheen.

I used to deal with the main cast of the Big Bang Theory on a weekly basis and never realized it until a year after I left and finally caught an episode and recognized them (I don't watch too much TV).

Jim Gaffigan kind of came off as a dick which was disappointing because I love his stand up. Might've just been a bad day.

Julia Louis Dryfus is damn good looking and I remember meeting her was one of the few times I got star struck because I watched Seinfeld all the time.

I was outside talking with some cooks that were grilling up some meat for a catering gig and an old man walking by asks us for the time or something. Everyone's tone shifted from lively to slightly nervous and humbled. I didn't know why right away, it was Clint Eastwood.

I get to go to the BAFTA's and IFTA's for the last 5 years so I've bumped into a few celebs. Have never met any really mean or bitchy celebs, unless you include people who work in Irish TV (but I don't count them). Though the weirdest/surrealist meeting would have been with Woody Allen, really nice guy, but super shy. didn't really want to chat about his films, but I mentioned that I had seen him in concert the last time I was in NYC and he smiled and said thanks.

Nicest:

Michael Fassbender - loves Guinness, nicest actor I've ever met. Have met up with him a good few times since in both London and Dublin.
Saorise Ronan - really down to earth and super nice
Jack Nicholson - personification of cool
Jennifer Lawerence - really nice
George Clooney - very nice and chatty about his films, even the bad ones.
Mark Kermode - chatted with him about his BBC Radio 5Live show and his latest book
Nigel Floyd - really nice guy, super knowledgeable about films
Paul Thomas Anderson - Kept to himself, but was nice when I said "hi" to him
Danial Day Lewis - very shy guy, very tall too. but very pleasent.
Hugh Jackman - really nice and chatted to everyone
Christoper Nolan - nice guy to talk to in general but when he talks about film he came across more intense.
Robin Wiliams - chatted more about games then his movies, was saying he was looking forward to BF3
James Cameron - said hi and we fist bumped, told him he was still "king of the world" (Avatar had just came out) and he smiled
Kathryn Bigalow - very nice lady
Russell Crowe - very cool dude, spent about 30 mins talking about Munster taking on the All Blacks in rugby and how he wanted to go the game in Limerick, but didn't know if his schedule would allow him.
Stephen Fry - he's exactly how you think he would be.

I don't usually take pics, but I do have a few on my PC.

I once (2003) had a beer sitting next to James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins guitarist) in a bar (The Mercury Lounge) in Manhattan.

I also ran into Michael Stipe and said hi on a sidewalk there.

That's it.

Met Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes when they came over to Australia for their podcast. They were taking photos with everyone after the show, and Kev's people had to tell him to speed things up because he was excitedly talking to all of us. Seemed like a genuinely good dude. Also said that Bruce Willis was a dick when I asked if they'd patched things up.

Not me, but my Dad's ex wife's cousin is/was Keith Moon. Dad knew him before he was in the Who and said he used to take Panadol to pretend he was on hard drugs, made him out to be a total dickhead. Then Dad heard their band (The Who, which wasn't called the Who at that point) and thought nothing would come of it...something came of it.

Mum also had tea with Mick Jagger's parents because her and a friend knocked on their door looking for him and got invited in. Didn't get to meet Mick though. A friend of hers dated David Bowie as well, we have a photo of Bowie when he was super young (before he was famous I think) just chillin. It's around here somewhere.

Went to school with her. Different last name, but she was really cool and nice. We weren't best friends or anything, but we were cool. Kept up on social when that started happening, but then she went all Hollywood and I haven't spoke to her personally since.

Did you make a move?

I once sat in a cafe next to Roman Abramovic the morning after the champions league final that chelsea won in Munich three years ago.

Crazy atmosphere when he entered with all his bodyguards. You felt like if you make a wrong move somebody will snap your neck.

When I was 9 or 10 I had my hair dyed blue. So I was wandering around at a sav-on drugstore one day and Susan Sarandon waved me over to her, asked me about my hair and touched it. It was pretty rad.

Let's see... I was on a plane with Martin Sheen once, but I didn't say anything to him. I held a door open for Tom Morello and what I assume was his mom at an Italian restaurant in the valley. I think that's it.

OH shit, one more. When I was like 5 I was at a McDonald's playing with some other younger kid on the playplace and my mom was talking to the kid's dad at a table. When we were done the guy said hi and thanked me for playing with the kid and it was Brian Dennehy. My mom was pretty stoked about it all day.
