So is this like a prologue or something?

The wording of the announcement, which I linked in my previous post. We can both go on thinking whatever and one of us will probably end up right, but the wording of that announcement strongly suggests there will be a paid demo.
I'm having flashbacks to e3 2013 right now where people were sure FFXV and KH3 were PS4 exclusives because they didn't pay attention to the language of the announcements.
But we'll see.
There is NO official announcement for a paid demo... therefore its unsubstantiated. He came up with his own conjecture. There is, however, an announcement that you get access to the demo if you purchase a game, which is something that has been done since forever, without said publisher actually releasing said demo for money. If you can post a time where a demo came free with a game, and then was sold separately, then your conjecture can graduate to a theory, but till then... its just conjecture.unsubstantiated? bullshit?
He just restated what's written in the OP. It's exactly that, Square Enix repaying its devoted fans, who've been waiting for 8+ years, with a paid demo.
All of you rejoicing... like Squeenix is redeemed through this bullshit of a deal after 8 years of wait (around 9 years by the time the demo is out).
Well, if the game is good then that's what really matters so whatever
Square Enix is still capable of making great games that a lot of people enjoy. FFXV itself gets hyped because it seems to be doing a lot of things right (a large world filled with stuff to do that opens up to exploration as you progress in the game, a refreshingly different modern day-ish setting, combat that looks totally cray-cray and possibly extremely fun, a story that so far is seemingly avoiding most of the antics some FFs like FFXIII have had etc.) and its dev team is filled with SQEX veterans and talented new(-ish)comers, helmed by a creative person I personally have a lot of respect for. Even if it doesn't end up being a huge paradigm shift in gaming or a perfect game devoid of flaws, it can still be an extremely enjoyable experience as a whole. Now: OMG OMG HYPE HYPE HYPE ZOMG NO WAYYYYYY!!!!
Then: Meh, it wasn't very good. They can't ever do anything. Why do I fall for it every time?
Seriously, why? WHY? I don't understand hypers.
Just pre-ordered for PS4.

I'm not sure why people are so upset about the demo coming with the game. Can someone explain? I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, I really do not understand the reasoning and would like to know. This isn't the first time it has happened so I'm a bit confused.
they are trying to undermine Square's effort by pointing out that we are getting a "paid" demo for a game that has been delayed for 8 years. It comes off as malicious and just bitterly butthurt. I'm not sure what point you would be trying to make with comments like that other than to ruin people's genuine excitement for a game that could potentially be really good.I'm not sure why people are so upset about the demo coming with the game. Seems people have automatically assumed it's a paid demo if they don't buy Type-0, which would be ridiculous, so rabblerabblerabble mode engaged.
I'm looking forward to both immensely. Fantastic news.
Holy fuck, buying Type-0 just for the demo, although type-0 looks interesting enough.
They need a long way to go to redeem themselves in my book, I'm just happy there is progress for this game. All of you rejoicing... like Squeenix is redeemed through this bullshit of a deal after 8 years of wait (around 9 years by the time the demo is out).

Yeah, this could mean one of many things:
1. The demo is only available to Type-0 HD purchasers (i.e. a way to drive sales and generate FFXV hype)
2. The demo must be purchased for non-Type-0 HD purchasers
3. The demo will be available for free to everyone else at a later date
4. ???
The logical implication of this statement is that the demo will not be free for other players. You could certainly choose to ignore this phrasing and assume that they included the word "some" without thinking about it, but that seems a bit unlikely. Maybe not 100% though?

The Dissidia 012 Prologus thing was an ACTUAL prologue to the full game with a little bit of content that wasn't in Dissidia 012 proper. This will be an enhanced demo of the beginning of the game with no "new" content, just the beginning altered to work better as a demo.Free if you buy Type-Zero, probably paid if you want to get just the demo.
Which won't be called a demo but a prologue.
They did the same with Dissidia, no surprise here.
It's more likely the demo will be exclusive to Type 0 buyers.Seems people have automatically assumed it's a paid demo if they don't buy Type-0, which would be ridiculous, so rabblerabblerabble mode engaged.

Here's the OT from the FF13 demo from back in the day, released under similar circumstances.

There's lessons to be learned from that thread.
I'm not saying that FFXV will be bad (hell I like all of the XIII titles) but i'm pretty sick of listening to hyping lately. Once games are released we have to listen to non stop bitching because the title couldn't hold a candle to the pedestal it was put on. I hope it does great, but no matter what SE does it will not meet expectations at this point.

as a huge fan of the series who has found everything that has been said about 15 to be completely offputting, I am glad we are getting a demo. Hopefully it can change my mind.
FFXIII demo was out in March, and got a Japan release in December, and then NA in March of the following year. SE is probably trying to replicate that, since it seemed to do well for sales. It's finally happening isn't it? If demo next year then FFXV should come out early 2016 right? How long did the full games come out after having the demo released for FFXII/FFXIII?
Now I'm really excited to replay FFXIII. Even if this was just a mistake, please release a collection on PS4 or something, S-E.
Which is? "Demo is awesome" = Game turns out worst of the series?
That's actually the more extreme assumption, seeing as how it depends entirely on reality being different than the only announcement we've seen.I see. I guess the press release was poorly worded. Thank you!
I... don't see the difference between this? So SE is at fault for giving people who don't want to buy Type-0 an alternative means of getting the demo? That's actually the more extreme assumption, seeing as how it depends entirely on reality being different than the only announcement we've seen.
There is a world of difference between "there will be a downloadable FFXV demo that people who buy Type-0 will get a free voucher for" (what the announcement says) and "Type-0 comes with an exclusive free demo" (what everyone wishes the announcement said)
Case and point. The Type-0 Japanese demo didn't really impress me at all so I'm not too thrilled if this is the only access to the XV demo.
Probably to be cautious with hype...
