have the same rig, my i5 is OC'd to 4.3GHZ, I can't get 60fps locked but I can do constant 30fps.
The game is a tech mess.
Thanks.

lol. For some reason that sounds really funny to me. Although from the looks of this game it shouldn't give anyone any trouble at 4K if they have the rig to support it. I think I'm going to pass. I don't like having to fiddle with games I just bought to get them to run properly. I like to put the game on High settings and get to playing. Too bad too cause the game looks kinda interesting.
i put everything maxed and used the simple 60fps unlocker and went, game runs perfectly. dont take the word of 1 person as gospel
You're running 60 FPS at 4k?
Do you have to run Cheat Engine every single time with the game to keep the POV at 90? or does it save the first time you run it?
There's a FOV-fix, made by K-Putt!

Works great without black bars (you can remove them by using r_forceaspectratio 0 via launch options, the config.cfg or the console).
It's a Cheat Enginge-table, so you'll need Cheat Engine.
Comparison screenshots (sorry for the superdarkness):
Default FOV, black bars
90 FOV, no black bars
Props to K-Putt for putting this out!
No you have to do it each time unfortunately, unless I'm doing something wrong. But I really needed this fix so I'm good.
Also, is that cheatengine thing safe to use, sounds like something valve would frown on
It's safe. Valve really only cares if it's VAC and multiplayer. This game has neither.I never used Cheat Engine before, can you still earn achievements with the program active?
Yes, you have to run it every time. You can easily make an executable trainer though. (edit: the trainer linked in the video posted on previous page is apparently malware, so watch out)Do you have to run Cheat Engine every single time with the game to keep the POV at 90? or does it save the first time you run it?
Yes, it's totally possible.Do you know if it's possible to downsample while using the fix? I have been feeling slightly queasy with the default fov, so it would be nice to do something about it while retaining the downsampled IQ. Thank you!
How does one remove the noise filter?
He posted on the page before this one!
How does one remove the noise filter?
is the creator a gaffer? just curious (for props)
Would just like to point out, the link in this video for the trainer is a malware program, just tested it out on my Win 10 machine (luckily) and it installed 4 malware programs, changed my internet homepage, added 2 internet add-ons and made 4 folders in program files containing various things with weird names.
I think Cheat Engine is just generally loaded with shitty bloatware. Even on their homepage installing it requires you to juke at least two programs by doing a custom install.
The cheat engine one was fine for me, it had 2 tick boxes that gave me a choice to install toolbars (still don't like those though - at least i could avoid them), the trainer link is strait up malware though - the "trainer" program just runs with no options at all and installs a load of malware programs and 2 of them are ones that add new malware during the uninstall of the old one (well dodgy)..
Uh dude, which trainer are you talking about?
The CT file is a Cheat Engine table and not an executable. The only other linked thing was Cheat Engine itself, which if you get from their homepage is safe.
You may already have adware installed that's linking you to virus filled stuff because I don't see anything virus related on the dropbox or the Cheat Engine site.
He means the one linked in the video's description.
It links to the Gaf post from the previous page.
The link was removed from the video. It links to the Gaf post from the previous page.
No the one labelled trainer was linking to a post on guu3d in which it provided 2 links to a supposed trainer - both linked to malware programs that installed a lot of malware.
Fortunately the link on the video has now been removed, which is why it appears to be just linking back to the other page.

Weird, perhaps the person you linked to changed the links after you posted them? (the post that had the malware was edited couple of hours ago) - Its not just me who reported this, in the guru3d thread a few others have posted the same thing.Yes, i removed the link although it worked for me (i used it for the video), i didn't get any malware and i don't have any strange folder.
I don't know, it could be something else you click (and download) via the download site. They're often a bit shady, so you gotta be careful what you're clicking on and downloading - and most importantly, what you're running.Yes, i removed the link although it worked for me (i used it for the video), i didn't get any malware and i don't have any strange folder.

I'm not sure what you mean.Does the cfg edit for 60 FPS work if I take of the console command?
I'm not sure what you mean.
I've been looking forward to this game for a while but only recently did I learn about the weird aspect ratio. It has prevented me buying the game today because I don't know which version to get. I want to get the PC version so I can modify the aspect ratio and FOV but I'm not sure if my PC is up to the task.
Is anyone running it with a setup like mine? It's a mix of older and not as old (but still not that recent) parts.
i7 920 OC at 3.8Ghz
16GB RAM
Radeon 7870 2GB
My PC is getting old but I'm not ready to build a new one, I want to wait until next year to do that. If anyone is running it on a setup like mine or knows what I can expect I'd appreciate some feedback.
Sounds like 85 is a good compromise then.just played 2 hours with the fix and, as expected, no headaches now.
and yes, the lantern is blinding at 90 fov.
Well if I edit the config file with the 60 FPS command will it still work if I take off the console enabling code?
C/Users/account/saved games/tango/evil within/base/config
g_fov "100"
R_swapinterval "-1"
R_forceaspectratio "2"
Forces 60 FPS and a bearable Aspect Ratio without destroying the FOV, no need for the console command.
Sounds like 85 is a good compromise then.
Someone says it breaks the zoom on, can anyone elaborate?the rifle

Don't download the linked trainer.
EDIT.
The link that was to a malware post has been removed, the only link in the video now is just fine.
Why don't I have a config.cfg file yet that I can edit? Is it because I've not started a game yet?
I only crashed when I adjusted the graphic options.Anybody crash to desktop at incredibly random points?
I'm hoping it's that I'm playing it off of an SSD that has maybe given me issues in the past.
I'll try that when I get home.Do me a favor? Run FRAPS, and leave the overlay on. Do you notice a difference? My game is running buttery smooth when I leave the FRAPS overlay up, but when I disable it, the game stutters. It's the WEIRDEST thing.
That would be odd if it fixes it. Maybe the tiny performance drain of Fraps' overlay is just the right amount to counteract the equally tiny fluctuations in the engine that causes this stuttering?
