I'm okay with this.
Is this based on his short with the robot cop?
That's pretty much the only thing he has ever done in entire his life. No surprise there heh. Oh and aliens. He always nails CGI of robots, look real and believable compared to anything I've seen. Movement, lighting, materials. It just works and your brain accepts it.
Die Antwoord are in this? Oh lol
Just so long as we get another song out of it that's this good:

It was a strange thing to be a kid in the 80's. This was once normal music.
Looks like a Blomkamp movie.
Chappie reminds me of:
just not as badass.
Looks like it'll be depressing. "Let's anthropomorphise this innocent robot as far as it'll go then watch it be tortured and ripped apart"
I mean, how can you not be a badass robot with a name like "Briareos Hecatonchires"?

Looks unbearably mawkish.
"Oh, Chappie, you've taught me more than I could possibly have imagined!"
Fuck off.
Unlike Elysium, Blomkamp wrote Chappie with his District 9 partner, Terri Tatchell. So hopefully that's a positive sign on the script front.
I get an odd sense that the trailer is playing that up more than will be the movie's actual tone. We'll see.
Hooray, more head explosions!I hear this is supposed to be "insanely gory."
Looks pretty good. Don't know if Ninja and Yo-Landi can act though, but I guess their personas fit the roles.
At least the Indian guy is played by an Indian actor this time.
Not by much
Edit: I hope Chappie bombs (chances are, it will) From what I've seen and read, Blomkamp strikes me as a director who should have as little input on a screenplay as possible. I think he'd be much better off realizing someone else's vision.

Don't hate on Fisher Stevens!
Mean spirited if not petty.
That said, Neil Blomkamp should be given the rights to adapt the Appleseed books* into an actual movie. Fuck, make it a trilogy.
*ignore the horrid CGI films/series
Wanting him to fail so he can make better movies in the future is mean spirited and petty?

Blomkamp + Die Antwoord?
