So what's the latest on Brandish releasing on US PSN?

XSEED Games released Akiba's Trip last month, followed by Shinovi Versus just a couple of days ago.

They are also juggling the second chapter of the Trials in the Sky series.

Give it time. They will announce the release date when they are ready.

It's still coming! Falcom's just been busy with Sen no Kiseki II in Japan until recently. But now that that's out, they should be a bit more free to help us get Brandish ready for release. It's been a looooong time coming, but as anyone who's played it can attest, the wait is absolutely worth it. It's pure dungeon-crawling bliss!

I don't like dungeon crawlers TBH, but Falcom's games have been great from what I played and I know this'll deliver.
I just wanted it badly now!

I'm getting a taste for them to some extent, but I'm still very picky about dungeon-crawlers. Brandish is pretty much in a league all its own, though -- it puts every other game I've played in the genre to shame. The only other game of its kind that I feel can match wits with Brandish is another unsung Falcom gem, Dinosaur: Resurrection.

Really, it's pretty much exactly as you said: Falcom is rad. When it comes to game design, they definitively know what they're doing, and consistently deliver.

Dinosaur: Resurrection is the most badass name a video game could have. I don't care if it isn't about Dinosaurs coming back to life and being a dinosaur eating humans simulator, I must have it...

I hope XSEED finds a way to convince SCEE to make it Vita-compatible in Europe as well. Recently Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles and End of Serenity were released for the PSP only in Europe (despite being Vita-compatible in the US) which is why I am really getting worried about Brandish and TiTS2. It's especially worrisome because according to this support email here it's not the publisher who decides on whether a PSP game will be Vita-compatible but SCEE themselves. Does XSEED have any influence on that decision or do we really have to rely on SCEE?
I don't know if you can comment on that issue, Tom?
It would be a real shame if it wouldn't be Vita-compatible here because although I still own a PSP I'd rather play it on my Vita.

Europe am cry. :(

I personally expect it sometime around November - it's pretty much the same deal as what happened with Sen no Kiseki and Celceta's NA release last year.

Only played Dinosaur Resurrection for an hour or two so far, but what I played of it (read: not too much) was a lot of fun. I'd even go as far as to say it has the most fast-paced combat system I have ever encountered in a turn-based dungeon-crawler, which is a big plus in my book.

Fantastic soundtrack for such a badass-sounding/looking game, too!

All (developed in-house) Falcom PSP games work fine on the Vita - I don't see any reason why Brandish and TitS SC would be any different.

Read my post again. I know that they theoretically work on vita but SCEE has to flip the switch for it to be downloadable. Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles and end of serenity work on the vita as well but only on US psn but not in Europe.

I've never heard of this before. Even if a PSP game isn't downloadable directly onto Vita (for some reason!), you should still be able to, say, download it onto your PS3 and copy it over to Vita. The idea that the game would simply not be set to function on a Vita sounds like pure madness to me.

I don't think you'll have much to worry about with Brandish or Trails 2, however -- I think it's pretty likely that we'll be pursuing a PSN release in EU ourselves, as we have with the majority of our past Falcom PSP titles. And considering we're anticipating most people will be playing these games on their Vitas due to the much higher install base, we would be pretty pissed if we were told our games weren't going to be downloadable onto Vita, as that would basically kill any sales potential the games might otherwise have.

So while I can't promise anything, I think it's safe to say that if and when we do contact Sony about listing these titles on EU PSN, we'll be pretty insistent on including them in the Vita store, and will be all WTF SONY if they give us any lip about it. ;)

I think I've probably drilled this into your head by now, but just in case, do remember that the game's encounter rate is based on your exposure. That orb on the lower-left corner of the screen changes color based on how exposed you are, and the deeper a shade of red it is, the more likely you are to get into a battle on your next step (or the next time you rest).

This is important, because it makes dead-end passageways an absolute godsend. If you're in really bad shape, find the nearest dead-end and like, click that orb or press Enter to rest 8 or 9 times so you're fully healed.

You will absolutely NEED to do this as the game progresses and the monsters start getting more and more badass. And since the whole rest/exposure mechanic isn't actually mentioned in-game anywhere, it's easy for people playing to miss it.

Yes, it's pretty ridiculous since both games weren't even transferable via the PS3 afaik (Konami recently pulled Castlevania DxC from the store though).
Thanks for the reassurance on Brandish and Trails 2 though! Can't wait to play both of them :)

Tom, is there any ETA? Is it still 2014? What about Corpse Party PC?

If we're still able to make 2014 at this rate, I think it's safe to say it won't be until sometime in December. But it's impossible to give a release date or even a release window until we're a little farther along in testing. So hoooopefully, soon.

Corpse Party PC should be good to go for this year still, but again, we can't say for sure at the present time.

Sorry to keep you guys hanging, but you'll need to keep waiting -- we can't say anything for certain just yet.

Actually, it's only available in the UK store for some reason... so maybe it's Konami being Konami and they have no idea what they're doing.

But yeah this game looks pretty good and I really hope there isn't an issue in Europe.

The XSEED Games Twitter has changed its header image to The Dark Revenant.

I wouldn't really read too much into it. So far, this is what has been shared on XSEED Forums:

When the release date is confirmed, yes, we'll announce it. But right now, even we don't know exactly when it will be!

We should be getting a complete English build within the next couple weeks, though, so hopefully we'll be able to get this game released a.s.a.p. once that's in our hands. We're shooting for getting it out in time for the holidays, but there are still too many question marks to commit to any specific timeframe.

Hey I'd be fine with them promoting the game on US PSN in an upcoming blog entry, hype and interest building is good in my book too.

I actually spent a few minutes yesterday trying to see if this was still coming out here or not haha. This and the supposed Lufia GBC 3DS VC release were the only games I had down as TBA 2014 that haven't either gotten dates or gotten moved. Good to know it's still coming!

Awesome to hear about this progress! Will be buying this day 1 for PS TV.

Also I gotta say that XSeed makes the best game manuals (Digital and Physical) I have seen since the Working Designs days. They are a joy to read and chocked full of neat artwork and hints. Hoping this carries the same quality even though it being digital only.

Unfortunately, our digital-only PSP games have all been released without digital manuals thus far, and this game will not be an exception to that.

We do have a nice website we're working on, though, at least!
