Halo The Master Chief Collection |OT| Halo Never Died, It Was Just Missing In Action

So my campaign checkpoint was lost and I've found one MP game in 30 minutes.

So bummed out here. I love Halo, but the amount of flaws large and small make MCC very hard to love.

So disappointing.

im not touching this game till the patch, then ill see if it works. If it does, awesome. Time to finally play. If it doesn't, awesome, time to return it.

Finally got some games in today. Honestly I just let it sit at the searching screen while I do work and just turn around once I notice different audio or I get shot at. The actual gameplay online has been fairly smooth, though I've gotten stuck with lopsided teams a few times.

If 343 announces that a patch is on the way before certification is completed, people complain that the patch is delayed because it fails certification.

If 343 holds off on announcing the patch until it passes certification to ensure no delay happens, people complain that 343 is being silent.

I know, they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. I get that.

But its not like its a hole they didn't dig themselves.

Damn, monitoring this thread throughout the week has been depressing. I really want to purchase an Xbox One and I am doing it mostly for Halo. I know that I'll be happier with a purchase of an Xbox One, but damn, this is just delaying me. And it keeps making me think of getting a PS4 because Microsoft just doesn't have their shit together. I guess if that patch comes through and everyone on here says the game is still broken, I'm jumping off the MS ship.

I can't keep waiting to purchase a damn game that's already out.

Basically:

Indeed, I'm just sad about the whole thing. I just wanna play Halo on my Xbox One....sigh.

You'll get absolutely no disagreement from me there.

Honestly, there's a small part of me that's actually kind of happy the patch got delayed. I think 343 is aware that a lot is riding on this patch, and I'd personally rather they not rush out the patch with the risk of creating more issues (which is what got them in this spot in the first place).

I was still not able to get into one mp game. single player was a torture. played halo 3 and master chief just exploded two times in a row without reason.

I was so happy to buy the game in a week/time like this (my stepmother is in the hospital because they found cancer) where I just want to get my mind of everything and play halo, a franchise that helped me through other hard times..

that really sucks. maybe some of you do not understand that, but halo as a franchise is important to me.

Just wondering, is your NAT strict or open? There's barely any real discussion on whether this is what is causing the MM issues, yet my issues were definitely solved after I fixed my strict NAT. I can get into games now (albeit still with dumb issues like uneven teams). Just so you know, the easy (but maybe not most ideal) way to fix this is to turn off Instant On on your Xbox's power settings and reboot the system. This seems to be a bug with the Xbox OS in how it handles UPnP.

If it was really delayed, i guess thats good.

I just don't think it was. They wouldn't announce it was done and sent to microsoft and then say it was delayed unless it wasn't delayed, but it failed certification.

If it failed cert....hooooo boy. I hope not. That doesn't bode well.

I hope to eat a feast of crow though and this patch fixes everything. This is/was my most anticipated game this year. Its unbelievably frustrating. Id love for this game to work just like they said it would.

Its even more frustrating knowing that even after the patch, we might have still reduced playlists and still only have one ranked playlist that will probably still reset 10 times a day.

I've been reading about this fix for a while. I've been intermittently getting consecutive games. Is there a guide on this or do you just turn off Instant On? I wouldn't mind even more games if possible.

Care to further elaborate your position?

It doesnt make sense. Its probably less then 5 days of a delay, also, that plan is "too evil" and "too dumb"... I mean, plan to delay a patch for less then a week on purpose to excuse refunds?
People would, in mass, argue the same thing: that they were waiting for the patch. Also, that would dirt MS and/or 343 image even more with such a move. And even if they, with that "plan" were able to retain some money, they would lose it fast down the road.
Its not the smartest move to keep consumers confidence.

we don't know how/why it failed cert though. it could have been something massive or it could have been something minor that Microsoft simply didn't want going live.

I actually agree with you, but I'm in full blown tinfoil hat mode right now.

Uhh, it's 343 at fault here, not MS.

I wouldn't be so sure. There's always the possibility that Microsoft gave them an unreasonable deadline. Besides, Microsoft owns 343.

Yeah, i guess so.

Still, I'd still buy an Xbox One, it will get fixed, there's no way in hell that this wont get fixed.

Tell you the truth, I've been pretty disappointed in my Bone experience as whole. I purchased it last month in anticipation of MCC.

Sunset Overdrive: Over stylized hipster ADD fest

Ryse: Micro transactions...

Master Chief Collection: Plain broken.

God damn, I feel so bad for the developers over there scrambling. Hard deadlines are meant to be broken. How it passed certification the first time is anyone's guess.

When 343 originally announced the Wednesday patch didnt they pretty much say it was already in certification? Common sense would dictate that the patch getting delayed was a result of it being in the certification process.

Yeah but they said they expected it to be out by Wednesday, so it does not mean they failed certification it could just be taking longer than expected. Or something could have failed who knows.

Well, that sucks. Guess I will just have to run through Sunset Overdrive while I wait :(.

Stinkles, if you're reading this, I think we deserve at least 6 more H2A MP Maps as an apology :).

I am sort of. Sorry we've been testing fixes basically 24/7. Getting there. More info today.

I feel optimisms.

Back later,

And yes, we know we owe you.

Well, first go into settings and check the Network to see if its Strict, Moderate or Open. If it's not open, you'll want to try this. I don't have my XB1 in front of me so I don't know the exact menu name but I believe in Settings you go to Power Options and change Instant On to Energy Saving, and then restart the box.

The downside is you don't get any of the benefits of Instant On if you do that, but if it fixes the NAT issue, it's worth it.

The more complicated way to fix it (while still keeping Instant On enabled) is to give your Xbox One a static IP, and if you don't know how to do it, I wouldn't mess around with doing it.

That's a stretch. Unless you have some kind of proof.

they said the patch was in cert, and then changed it a day later to "patch delayed"

Its not concrete proof but its the most likely scenario. Why wouldn't they just patch matchmaking and patch single player in a different patch? Why suddenly delay a patch ALREADY submitted to MS?

I'm in the same boat as you really- bought one last month.

I enjoyed Sunset Overdrive though- yeah, most of the dialogue is and characters is hipster-esque bullshit, but the gameplay is sweet.

Forza Horizon 2 is great if you like racers- and D4 is so good.

Putting in overtime sucks (especially if you're salary). I can't even begin to imagine how much round the clock work you guys have had to put in.

The optimist in me thinks that the various teams working on the fixes keep wanting to add in their components to the main patch. At some point though, 343/MS have to cut it off and go with what they have.

Halo 5 free for everyone who bought MCC day one? :p

Hope you guys get it sorted soon. Because when I've had a few matches working as they should- it's amazing.

Dude, if hipster culture's your thing, I'm really not knocking it. It's just not mine. But there's no denying this game has a yuppy/hipster style about it.

Also, Ryse DOES have micro transactions. I'm aware you can avoid them, but their mere presence bothers me.

I cannot imagine the amount of stress and just general disappoint you guys are feeling over there.

On the bright side, everyone is so upset because every REALLLLLLLY wants to play halo.

i think this is a really good silver lining to look at. yeah, people are upset, but (glass half full) i'd rather have a lot of people who want to play my game be upset that its' not working than have nobody upset at all.

Thank you!

What I'm most looking forward to is the "post-mortem". Besides what you may or may not "owe" us (forge file browser :)), I'm most interested to hear what went wrong.

If you are buying it just for Halo, I'd definitely say wait and see how the patch goes. I don't think you can take this as a "Microsoft doesn't have their shit together" thing though because all of the monthly updates have been awesome and most games have rolled out without a hitch. As someone who has owned both, if you think you'll be happier with the One, you probably will. That's how it turned out for me anyway.

I'm likely in the few but, honestly, at this point? I was annoyed at first but I'm over it. I don't care that much that the game has some glaring issues. The moments I get a good match going or when I stop in awe at how beautiful Halo 2A's campaign is... It makes it all worth it. Sure it's annoying and inconvenient, but I'll be damned if some bugs and long wait times is going to spoil the experience I've been waiting on for a long LONG time.

I appreciate the hard work 343i put into this game, and I hope to see the game in proper condition soon.
