Here are my predictions for the main announcements at the keynote -

- Sony announce 15 million sold to consumers WW
- No Man's Sky is to support Morpheus and given a release date
- The Witness release January 2015
- Ratchet and Clank remake trailer and release date Q2 2015
- Level 5 + Studio Japan game
- Capcom Ono exclusive / Deep Down announced for EU / US
- Uncharted 4 gameplay trailer
- Uncharted HD collection announced for 2015
- Beyond Two Souls for PS4 announced for Spring 2015
- The Last Guardian teaser (they must have something to show at this point and what better gift for fans at such an event)

Seems reasonable.

Personally I would take out The Last Guardian (if they are going to unveil this, its going to be at E3), Beyond (IIRC, someone from Quantic Dream said on twitter that they wont attend), and the Ono Exclusive (I doubt this even exists).

I would add Guerrilla's Horizon (or whatever its called) though. Seems plausible that they will show a CG teaser here and hype it up for a formal E3 reveal.

Aside from that, I am positive that the rest of the list has a pretty big chance of actually happening.

I'd laugh at how bad this would be.

What are you talking about? Level 5 is the shining hope of the industry.

Honestly, Level 5 is OK, but only when they're code monkeys for something.

I'd be really happy to see something cool by CyberConnect2.

Here's why.

- Sony announce 15 million sold to consumers WW -- not relevant to us really
- No Man's Sky is to support Morpheus and given a release date -- this is like a 5 second announcement. Morpheus doesn't even have a general date range yet and will require significant additional cash outlay. Not getting hyped for this. And is this game the new Destiny? Are we gonna see it every show for the next year?
- The Witness release January 2015 -- 5 second announcement
- Ratchet and Clank remake trailer and release date Q2 2015 -- 5 second announcement
- Level 5 + Studio Japan game - Game #1.
- Capcom Ono exclusive / Deep Down announced for EU / US -- if "Ono exclusive," game #2, otherwise an announcement of something that we really should have known for like 2 years. Mostly a 5 second announcement.
- Uncharted 4 gameplay trailer -- Good.
- Uncharted HD collection announced for 2015 -- Remaster, not a big announcement. I want it but not worth getting hyped for.
- Beyond Two Souls for PS4 announced for Spring 2015 -- seriously
- The Last Guardian teaser (they must have something to show at this point and what better gift for fans at such an event) -- the game is dead, JFC.

They need to show 2 more big games and a lot more small games.

Well, I cant's say I disagree, considering that of that list I would probably only care about Uncharted and Level 5, but seriously, you (and half of this thread) need to tone down your expectations. :lol

I know you don't literally mean 5 seconds but for each bullet point I can see, on average, 3-4 minutes... (about an hour of content right there). Knowing how these things go - a lot more time will be spent introducing and briefly talking about the games rather than anything else. Just look at the Gamescom press conference...or any E3 conference for that matter. Plus we're going to get a lot of indies and I mean lots..... (and I think this is the right venue to do so for indies and give good games a chance at a spotlight - not everything has to be AAA - the media is not doing their "job" per say when it comes to indie coverage).

Which makes it all the more gruelling. You know 5 seconds is all they need for some of these announcements.

My expectations are perfectly in check. I am not expecting anything, and I've legit barely posted in this thread b/c I don't care. Also I am moving on the 5th and might not have internet on the 6/7th. BUT if you're going to hype a mega event and the best you can do is announce release dates for titles already announced, do everyone a favor and put out a press release instead kthnx

Well, it's a keynote address trying to market products to a faithful fanbase, not a powerpoint presentation in a closed room. If you announce something you at least have to show something, whether it's gameplay, a brief introduction by the devs + gameplay, a hands-on demo for the "big games" etc....

I don't know how Sony is going to go about this keynote but the amount of content that can be shown is limitless....literally... (5 secs hyperbole is a huge hyperbole).

Well, that's why those announcements only really need like 5 seconds of time.

This is for the Playstation audience, and the smallest announcement is going to be enough for them.

People are saying that they're hyping it to E3 levels, but that doesn't mean that E3 and PS Experience are the same. They're totally different.

You wouldn't think that list would be laughably bad if you weren't expecting anything. :p

Being honest though, I don't get the feeling that Sony is hyping this too much. They just said that this is a celebration of Playstation and that there will be new announcements, but frankly that is a really vague statement and could mean many things.

The impression I get is that its going to be more focused on the hardcore fans that enjoy discovering behind the scenes of the playstation series from now and from the past. Things like that. Of course there are going to be new things, just don't see the big scale some seem to be projecting into this.

I feel like it's more a mega event because it's the 20th anniversary and they'll try to make announcements worthy of it rather than they want to have a big event because they've got this giant pile of announcements.

To put it another way, they were going to have a big event for the anniversary no matter what, especially the way the PS4 has been selling. But since it's been a good year for the PS4 and it's traditional winter announcement time they really should have some good stuff lined up.

Also where's all the hype about big announcements coming from? I was always under thr impression this was for the fans mostly and that there wouldn't be anything really new shown. Do people have a basis for the expectations?

"exciting game announcements" is pretty straightforward.

That's fine. I really like Beyond. I actually really enjoy Quantic Dream games, and so do other mods. We do a pretty good job of moderating the official threads but most threads are so annoying that I don't engage on the topic normally.

That said, not a PLAYSTATION EXPERIENCE EVENT caliber announcement. Nintendo would put this out on their press site after the event, which is what Sony should do with something like this.

You wouldn't think that list would be laughably bad if you weren't expecting anything. :p

It's that bad! But I would laugh at other people getting hyped if that is what happens. :)

Do you know what Sony could do to please the hardcore and not be dumdums? Announce that PS1 BC is coming to fucking PS4 with streaming support. Announce that PS2 BC support is coming to fucking PS4 with streaming support SINCE THE PS3 ALREADY HAD THIS SHIT. Then they can give away Vib Ribbon to everyone who has been a PSN member since 2010 or something and/or free on PS+. To me that's far more of a nice gesture to PS owners.

I would also like to see media for other games they are working on. That's very valuable. But conference material? That's wonderbook tier.

Not really, exciting for whom? Someone might think 5 new indie games is exciting, others might not. What I mean, is, of course Sony is going to hype this, its just takes a bit of perspective to imagine how big of an event this is for really big games being announced/revealed.

Last time I used this gif to get hyped for an event we had the awesome TGS. Going to go all in with the hype again.

I'm not sure what contributes an announcement. Sony released playable games for GC including Journey, Unfinished Swan and Until Dawn. They still 'announced' them at the conference, but they'd said they were there already. It's like GT6, they talk about it in interviews openly, but they'll still 'announce' it when the time comes.

If Beyond/GoW Ascension are shown in a montage or whatever, that's fine. Dedicating real time to it would be absurd.

I'm down for indies. I'm not like one of those butts who doesn't consider them games. But they weren't in the listing I quoted!

Seriously when people treat AAA as automatically better than indie in any capacity I start seeing red.

I expect indies out of this announcement more than anything.

Still, do you seriously think that would be worth the excitement that Sony is generating for this event? I don't think so.

I'm saying there aren't many ways to interpret that statement. New games will be announced, whether they're AAA or indie.

Heh, that's actually my biggest expectation for this event. There's been too much smoke for there to be no fire there. Not only would it please the hardcore here, but it might wake up the Japanese market for a week or two.

Why does a Beyond ps4 remaster keep coming up.. there's got to be something better than that to announce at an event being hyped like this lol. I just don't understand what a game like that has done to deserve the remaster?

I love indie games, but they're so random in terms of releases that they make poor stage content. Where's The Witness? Where's N++? Where's Secret Ponchos?

First parties need to be more stringent in regards to what they choose to showcase at a conference. They can brush off the failings of third parties, but when someone takes the stage at a Sony show and says Versus XIII or Agent are coming to PS3, Sony have a responsibility to ensure those promises are kept.

Although Sony doesn't have the first party content to really fill ninety minutes or whatever, they rely far too heavily on developers/publishers who's work they have no control over.

if it does exist, it's probably more about letting QD work on the PS4 before a proper release ala naughty dog with TLoU:R

Oh, just to be clear, I am not of those either. Just used that as an example because its the most common one around here.
Unfortunately.

Well, yeah, but announcements could mean 2 or 15. I am getting the impression that most are betting on the later, which is very unlikely imo.

I don't think they want to touch Beyond again after what happened with Ellen Page.

EDIT: wait, so they didn't sue. nevermind
