This is either a very stupid thing or Sony has some really special. Like monster hunter on ps4 and vita and Guardians for free on psn. Think about it. They are having an event near the holidays. All the frig out in Las Vegas (not really were most of us take our families for the holidays). They are not doing this for free or a charity. They are charging for this. They have gotten their developers to pay to do this...again near the holidays and after pressing to get end of year titles out the door.
It has to be something no one has thought of. You don't drag your customers, developers and focus attention on yourself like this...and charge for it...and not have something completely unexpected.
Is it sold out? Not as of now. The worst part would be having empty hall. 95 bucks for two days and it ain't no PAX. WTF. They better be handing out free vitas in the swag bag.
They better have a plan, for the downside on this is way way high. For those dedicated souls who are going I hope you have a great time. Not trying to be a piss...just trying to make sense of it.

It's the 20th anniversary of the PlayStation. The PS1 launched in Japan in early December 1994. This isn't some random PS Experience like they did for the PS4 announcement.

I agree e3 was mediocre and hope that the event is at least at TGS level which was good.
they probably moved it to vita, makes sense since that's where life is.

Just get me hype for 2015. Honestly don't want to hype myself and I'm not one of the impatient ones freaking out on Sony just because they didn't have a ton of crazy exclusives this year but if they can just keep hype fofonext year strong I'm good.
Less focus on third party unless it's an exclusive and I'm good. I double dipped on this system after almost getting a xbone and have enjoyed my return to the PS ecosystem so far.

Yeah, i hope so. IMHO, TGS content including Pre-TGS is so good but heavily underrated.

Life is too short to be reasonable about things!
Not tons, but obviously TLG, GoW4, GT7, MM's new game, GG's new game, Bend's new game, Gravity Rush 2, Half-Life 3, Agent, StarCraft Ghost, DNF circa '99, FFVIIR, Halo 6, and that new Zelda. As long as they hit those, I'll keep my expectations in check.

Don't look too much into it. Sony basically just want their own PAX or Blizzcon. They let their fans pay money to play demos of upcoming games. There will be announcements but don't expect anything earth-shaking.
My hype is still at the bottom. The most I expect in term of new games are Gravity Rush 2 and the new God of War. That's it.

Honestly, based on the panels announced, if they announced nothing but make recordings for all of them available, that's plenty good already for me.

I am keeping my expectations really low. SCEA does not know how to do a good paced conference. It has to be 2 hours filled with clutter. I just hope they don´t show any Ubisoft game at the key not speech. I am so tired of Ubisoft.

But yeah, why would Sony hold a random event like this if they have nothing to show.
It's a keynote, which hold very different connotations compared to a traditional conference you would expect from but people are going to ignore that anyway and set themselves up for disappointment.
I think you need to stop looking at this as an E3 conference, as if all that matters is that particular presentation. The idea of this was born from wanting to communicate more with fans, and also allowing them more of a look behind the scenes of the development of some of their favourite titles, past and present. There's been a lot of evolution for this idea, but whatever the case, it ultimately ended up here and it's less about hyping up a particular presentation, and more about the entire experience. This is a pretty huge event all things considered.
I can't speak for individual panels, but there is going to be some great stuff for people attending this event, and a lot of efforts are also being made to show and give more information to those who aren't able to attend. It's very much a celebration of Playstation, but it's also about showing much more than that. Folks get a chance to look behind the development of some older titles, other ways in which certain parts of the game development process work, meet developers, take part in contests, get collectables, and of course, play games. It's being promoted as a community event, because that's what the idea was born from, something for fans.
Yes it's great if you're shown The Last Guardian or whatever, but try to think beyond that too. It's not often you get a chance to pick the brains of the people involved with so many of these franchises, and also get a chance to hear them speak about what made it happen. Who knows, maybe you'll come away with a few experiences worth remembering.
so there will be a stage, with light-shows, dubstep 'music' and devs coming on stage?

Sure, but this is a celebration of the Playstation's 20th anniversary. Don't be surprised if they spend a certain amount of time just to go down memory lane instead of pumping out announcement after announcement of new games.
Gotta make sure a video package contains Snake jumping off a bridge and Sephiroth in them flames. Pander for maximum effect.
Which reminds me, I wish they would release the Gamescom one but without the stupid looking people on it.
Make sure the music cuts off right before the end, and all we hear is Tidus laughing to close the montage.
