Destiny: Exotic weapons fixed.... and then broken.

What the fuck? They didn't tell us this shit when they introduced Exotic Shards to begin with? I spent 3 Shards maxing out my "original" exotics since the new mechanic went live. Looks like they were completely wasted, since I could have just saved them to "reset/upgrade" the gun since there's zero return on investment on the original used shard.

What the fuck are they thinking?

I agree that they should have waited until the first day of the expansion going live to offer these shards. Or at least make sure everyone understands how this mechanic works before releasing it into the wild.

Yes this is retarded. The best solution is that you get a shard if you convert a maxed weapon with Xur. No shards for unmaxed converts. That way, it won't be completely in vain.

The bulk of Destiny's loadout will still be its existing items.

It just shows that Destiny isn't going to offer much. 75% of grinding will be for stuff they already maxed before.

These seem kind of like pretty huge assumptions. I would at least wait and see how many new exotics are in The Dark Below. As far as items, gear and weapons go they haven't really shown a lot.

It's also worth noting that you can only equip one exotic at a time. Most of your XP is going to be going towards upgrading 5-6 slots' worth of brand new Legendary items, with brand new perk types.

Ok hold up - I got another monte carlo yesterday so I broke it down and got an exotic shard. I didn't even know what it was at the time... Now I still don't know what to do with it best case? Wait for xur to sell some kind of exotic upgrade for exotics I have? What's the shard used for?

Just wait until the official update drops. Don't do anything. There is too much speculation and stuff flying around and no one is going to really know anything until the update actually comes out.

The guns in this DLC have already been data mined. There are like 5 new exotic weapons. We will be using the same shit.

Give it to xur to upgrade your exotic if he has it

Or

It's used as the final node upgrade on your exotic tree

To be fair, they are addressing that problem in the new raid where it will see what dropped for you last and make sure you're more likely to get stuff that is "fun" or that you don't have, as opposed to radiant materials and crap.

I read that and whether it's fair or not my first thought is it won't make a lick of difference to me. I clearly have no luck in this game. Two times zero is still zero.

Does Xur have to being selling the upgrade for my weapon for me to be able to upgrade my exotic or can i update them all from an item he sells like the vehicle booster?

My warlock is still waiting on his boots to go with his 4 pairs of gloves 5 chest pieces and 3 helms. Hunter is waiting on his gloves to go with his 4 chest pieces and 3 boots. Titan waiting on his helm to go with his 2 pairs gloves 3 chest pieces and 4 boots.

I wish this game had a token system.... Or ability to exchange boots from other characters to another class once. Or even be able to trade with the level 30's who get a full set of raid gear in one run and dismantle all of it as long are you are all in the same run together.

He offers at random 6 different armors and weapons each every week. So if your exotic isn't offered to upgrade have to pray to RNGeezus for the next week.

Another post from Reddit for the people saying the only need to upgrade is for Hard Mode Crota Raid:

"Need to upgrade" is entirely of different from "You can use your old weapons." You will need to upgrade for Hard Mode.....you can use your old weapons in Normal Mode.

If the enemies in Normal Mode max out at 30, then how much more damage will you do? I'm not inclined to take a Reddit post at face value, but if what you just posted is accurate (320 Max Level for normal weapons), then upgrading only buys you a 6.5% damage boost. Which is not exactly going to make or break you in a Normal Mode raid.

Don't do that, please.

BUNGIE!!!

DO THE RIGHT THING AND CARRY OVER THE XP! to the new exotic.

edit- if they were smart they would have made it 300k xp for the new exotics and then carried over the xp. People who traded in a maxed out weapon would have it 2/3 leveled while an unused one would still have to gain the same xp over all as the maxed out trade in.

And how am I wrong? There will be two weapons that people can own. An exotic and an exotic 2.0. You could have both of them in your inventory if you wanted. They are two separate weapons. You are handing in a weapon that you were probably happy to finally get via RNG or a Exotic bounty for a guaranteed new exotic weapon with better stats.

Bungie doesn't really owe you anything. You looted a level 30 weapon and have used that level 30 weapon for your own enjoyment and benefit for months. I think what Bungie did is a decent compromise between keeping all exotics at 30 and releasing 2.0 versions that replace the 1.0 versions in the loot table. I'd much rather trade in my MIDI rather than waiting for the better version to drop.

I don't understand this argument. Was your time spent playing the game not enjoyable? How could it be a waste of time if you had fun doing it? If you didn't have fun doing it...why the crap are you doing it? How many weapons/armor did you dismantle on your way to 30 so that you could equip better gear and how is that different than what you have to do to get to level 32? Level/Loot based games are all about moving goalposts. You aim to reach the main goal and then DLC comes out, ups the level, and forces you to work towards a new goal which involves ditching your old stuff.

You seem to confuse forced grinding in order to actually play the fun parts with the actual fun.... I spent tons of hours grinding mats to level guns and no it was not fun. At all. I did it so I could actually play the raid and other cool stuff

NM VoG enemies run from lvl 26->28 why would you assume NM CE tops out at 30?

Legit don't know why I am even bothering with this game anymore. Oh right, because I'm a dumbass who bought it digitally and can't trade it in. =\

The posts I was referring to were specifically saying that it was pointless because the only time more damage would be applied is when you encountered enemies above lvl 30 (ie the Crota Raid HM) due to how they understood the systems at play. That post debunks that.

Haha exact same boat my friend.

"Worst" part is, is that I paid for the digital deluxe version that bundled in the DLC so I almost feel obligated to put myself through this bullshit, lol.. Someone find me a straight jacket, plz.. ;)

Was talking about use of a certain word. Not cool, is all I was saying.

Just spell it out for him, man. You will not be struck down where you stand for saying an offensive word.

KMS - he doesn't want you to use the word "retarded." There are plenty of other suitable non-offensive alternatives out there.

You're welcome :)

I'm done with the game but don't regret buying it. I played it a lot, and had a lot of fun. Ultimately the broken leveling system, the lack on content, the the progressively less rewarding grind just told me it's time to move on. I've deleted it and am looking forward to some new games I haven't had time to start yet.

Rumor on the streets is that the reason they didnt release the information is because of the exclusive first look that game informer had. They couldnt talk about it until they got their exclusive hits.

But who the fuck knows.

Well, there is something to be said for wanting to get your moneys worth out of a product, even if it pains you to do so.. Especially when you were sold 50% of the content at full price. :p

If you don't like Destiny then don't play it.

Playing something you don't enjoy is not "getting your money's worth". It's wasting time on top of wasting money. Go find a game you like.

If that is the reason that is one shitty press strategy "Hey GI are offering us a spread on TDB but we have to not communicate with our customers until they publish? Sounds good to me!".

It may have been an Activision thing. Who knows.

Oh I'd lay money it was crappy comms and Activision go hand in hand

Doesn't really matter, does it? Get new armor to push you to Level 31 or 32 if need be, but comparatively speaking the difference will be the same. At least according to the Reddit poster who claimed it was that way "If all other variables are equal."

Sounds like nonsense to me anyway. Even if the information were embargo'ed to GI, they didn't have to throw up a patch that introduced the Exotic Shards/Slots already. They could have waited till Tuesday.

Then they should have waited until the article was out before applying that last patch (OR make it part of the expansion). Lots of unnecessary heartburn.

Yeah. Should've hold back the patch if that was the case. Release in combination with the new DLC would've been fine. First there would be celebrations about the mats, and then... the rage.
