Boycotting Yakuza 3 was perfectly justified. Segac gave no indication there was going to be significantly cut content. And fwiw it wasn't just hostesses it was alot of Missions and other stuff. Segac said nothing. People only found out after they'd already bought the game which is total crap!

Look, we still got lucky they gave 4 a chance. Yakuza has never sold well for various reasons. Seeing people finding excuses to not buy an already hard to localize game is frustrating to people who really want it

People not buying this because it's digital are fans of discs and not games, it makes no sense, I may understand if it was because of the lack of an account system, but the point is to play the game.

And I'm sure Sony/SEGA know that they are not going to rake in money, the important thing is to find a way to profit over this release and if they found it we may get more Yakuzas in the future.

It's fucking pathetic. They're not fans of this franchise, that's for damn sure. Not supporting this after everything that has happened is beyond ridiculous. We're actually getting a second shot at giving this franchise a future in the West.

...i mean yeah, i wouldve loved it on PS4, but it would've been a straight-dump of the PS3 game, and people might've bitched...plus any $ spent on porting it likely couldn't be justified, again with the localization costs (and i don't know how Atlus factors into this but the sega forums were saying how most of said localization team is now gone? at least in recent times anyway). i hear you, but i just can't see how it would've worked is all

I had no knowledge of this until after my copy had already been paid for. Buying the game in good faith that it'd be treated as well as the previous ones and then finding out it was butchered after already paying up? Anyone who returned or held off buying after finding out was entirely in the right cause thats as good an excuse as you can get, unless ya like getting crapped on?

I think the likelyhood of more PC release has a higher chance of happening than those games.
In the case of the Shining series don't they have some high profile artist or something working on the series for the past few years now?

Tony Taka's character designs, yes. Still would like to see a localization of those games though, heard they were pretty good.

Well the thing about the series is that it has a reminisce feature that recalls all the events from the past games(Main series only) from 1-5, so storyline wise it catches you up very quickly on everything

Like I said - I guess I will import it at some point from Japan and use a fan translation to play it. I simply won't buy digital releases, especially not on platforms, where I'm unable to fully migrate to a new generation. All of that is Sony's fault and not mine.

A very bittersweet day.

It's really cool that Yakuza 5 is coming out. I never thought this day would come.

Unfortunately, it's digital-only, which means no sale from me. As with other retail releases, no physical, no buy. It's a rule I've held hard and fast to for years now. Limited HDD space, data caps to worry about, and no resale value when my console goes belly up? Can't do it.

That said, I hope others do take advantage. It's great to see the unpossible made possible.
