I knew I wasn't dreaming. I could have sworn I read someone on GAF putting something similar to the Must Style mode in that DMC5 thread.

Also another post in that thread :

The whole concept for "Dante Must Style" mode came when DMC3 leaked and people on Gamefaqs were like "oh man DMC3 DMD mode is so hard... you don't do any damage to enemies unless you are S or higher!" People actually got hyped for it but as it turned out enemies just had a fuck ton of health and having more Style rating didn't impact this.

I thought it would be cool that instead of having tanks for enemies that their health depended on the Style rating. This would force players to be more creative in their combat rather than relying on the bread and butters.

Here would be my additional difficulty modifications on "Dante Must Style" mode:

*Style gauge builds up slower but goes down faster. Repeating a move instead of retaining neutral style would cause heavier decay than normal.

I've never seen the May Style mode suggested before either. Even back in the GameFAQs DMC3 days I don't remember seeing that, and I distinctly remember stuff like God Must Die being suggested tons of times.

Hopefully stuff like hardcore and Gods Must Die is balanced properly. Nevertheless I'm gonna be playing this like no tomorrow.
Like I said first time I heard of this mechanic was in DMC3 as a rumor and then it just stuck from there. After that I only really heard it on GAF a couple of times and it was really myself who advocated it the most.

DMC is that bad? Lol, that's the impression I get by reading this thread. (Never played any DMC)

DmC can be a fun and enjoyable game make no mistake, its definitely the very best game Ninja Theory has ever made. Just don't call it Devil May Cry.

DMC2 on the other hand, is just garbage.

Maybe Capcom really are reading GAF. At least your posts.

I think you need to post your wishlist in every DMC-related thread. I seriously might start doing it, just for good measure.

Loved this game.

Played through it twice, which I never do.

The combat really clicked with me after something like the third chapter.

Love that nightclub level!

DMC2 was better than DMC.

They already copied 90% of my suggestions to fix DmC. I don't really have much to add except bring back Taunts.

No I meant for DMC5.

But yeah, taunts is another thing. I forgot about that.

Hey, Capcom! Ninja Theory! Add taunts. Chop chop!

This is very accurate. On its own it's definitely a good game that can be enjoyed with some pretty odd design decisions (which seem to be fixed in this update) and an awful story.

But when you play a Devil May Cry game, that carries an expectation and DmC fails to meet all those expectations and even fails to match the quality of previous games.

DMC2 is dogshit. But I didn't play over 500 hours.

I knew I wasn't dreaming. I could have sworn I read someone on GAF putting something similar to the Must Style mode in that DMC5 thread.

In addition to the Dante Must Die, I want a Dante Must Style difficulty, where you only deal any damage at certain Style Rankings- A: 25%, S: 50%, SS: 75%, SSS: 100%. This would allow players to get more creative within the confines of the game itself.

There's little doubt they're reading GAF.

Also, every single change made to DmCDE are things that have been repeated in these threads over and over again.

There's no doubt about it. They even took the "hardcore mode" name.

Ninja Theory/Capcom.... there is still time!

PUT TAUNTS IN DmC DE!!!!

Echoing this.

TAUNTS IN DMC DE

People who care more about branding than they do in-game content are clowns. A game's title are just words that pop up when you turn on the game. You can endure that. Just forget them, words hardly matter. Focus on the mental process of experiencing a video game. You care too much about the outside world (the reception of other videogames) when videogames are designed to trick you into believing you exist in a smaller, fake one. Laughable especially for anyone who pushes the idea they are "gameplay" first. No, you are brands first.

Yeah guys Tweet NT/Capcom. Tell them you love all the changes so far and you would love it even more if you added Taunts.

Even if it's only a couple of animations.

I don't have a Twitter so I don't do this myself.

Neither are going to sell. They should have put together something like the God of War Collection (PS2 HD trilogy + 4 + Definitive DmC) but it's Capcom, that was never going to happen.

i honestly dont give a shit about the story being bad as my only complaint was the combat was too damn slow and easy
if this remaster fixes that i may actually buy it later down the road like say June alongside DMC4SE

Will buy DMC, I actually really enjoyed it on ps3. I'll hold off on DMC4 for now--I played that game so much I don't know if I'd want to do it again lol.

My goodness. Are you trying to outdo Zia or something?

Er what are you talking about?
What I said isn't wrong. :p The annoying fixed camera got in the way during combat sections, when you moved to a different side of the map while you were attacking an enemy the controls would alter slightly ruining your combos.
The bosses iirc you had to face them each 3 times each, atleast DMC 2 bosses had variations. Sure the helicopter boss fight took forever and was bad, I'll give you that, but I remember the nightmare boss being boring/awful in the orignal DMC too. Hit the lights, run around waiting for the core to pop up, and if you got sucked in; surprise (You had to fight the spider, nelo, and the owl again[which you fought already like 3 times before]). Oh and the final boss fight was awful, such a terrible idea to have a starfox64 like level as the final boss fight for a hack and slash game.

Turbo mode and the various difficulty modifiers should rectify this. Watch the 60FPS video on Chrome:

The footage I have seen suggests to me that the weapon switching combos are faster and moves generally have better frames to cancel in.

Story won't be changed but I mean it's whatever... we can skip cutscenes.

Ninja Theory: "Here's DmC, a different take on Devil May Cry."

Internet: "It's shit! It needs this, this, this, and that to be a TRUE Devil May Cry game!"

Ninja Theory: "Okay, here's DmC Definitive Edition, where we added this, this, this, and that."

Internet: "LOL don't care, still not getting it."

Lesson: Don't bother trying to appeal to the internet.

Browsed Capcom Unity, Gregaman said "No taunts confirmed :/"

Am a bit sad but oh well.

Also Gregaman described the new triple Angel Dash as being Table Hopper-ish.

I loved DmC, will rebuy this. Wasn't a big fan of 4 so ill wait and see on that one. Virgil was cool in DmC though. Hopefully this means they are working on a DmC sequel.

So I keep seeing Wii U mentioned on twitter and capcom-unity in response to these announcements... and I don't get it? Did Capcom promise something for Wii U or what?

Hooray for selective reading.

Have you looked at the other thread? Nearly every post is, "LOL don't care about all the changes and additions to DmC, OMG VERGIL IN DMC4!!!"

They tried to appeal to a group of people who were never going to like their product because they find the very concept of a western reboot of the franchise as personally insulting.

find me a single person who said all of this

Um. Literally two posts above mine:

All that and still not buyng DmC. Nope.
