AC Unity Patch 4 is now rolling out

I'll just leave this here.

Great A.I, I guess this is what's taking all the CPU power on these weak laptop cpu's.......

The game can be had for 30 and below, but such is the case with a million other games right now, sales are everywhere. A psn sale was just posted and I may get a few titles there where quite a few look better than ac-u, perform better and are 1080p, some 1080p and 60fps combined.

I don't see how I can justify a non 1080p game on the PS4 seeing what they system is capable of at that resolution. If Ubisoft patches 1080p in, I may consider a purchase, but at this moment even with this patch I can't bite, it's simply not enough. For those who have the game though, I hope this patch gives a much steadier framerate for better enjoyment of the title. I simply can't support this. I won't purchase any title below 1080p for the system.

Will wait for more impressions. I'm planning to buy AC Unity before christmas but if it still just little improvement I might choose Alien Isolation instead and delay purchase till next year.

Never going to happen. They're finding it hard to get Unity to hit 30fps as it is. If they bump the res we'll be back to square one again.

Crazy this game came out a couple of months ago and its already half price.

I like how on the internet, 1 month and 5 days is = a couple of months.

On topic, I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays tonight when I get home. It was still playable before, imo, but I won't say no to an improvement.

I would not mind them lowering this to 720 tbh. As long as its flawless and at a steady FPS. The light lag and unresponsive control is what kills it for me. well.. not to mention some mission breaking bugs i've encountered.

As stated many times, the framerate problems are due to the CPU, not the GPU. Resolution does not impact CPU performance.

well.. there have been so many games out since then that its hard to keep track of time. A month and 5 days makes it even worse. A little over a month and the game is way marked down.

The ps4 gpu is 40 percent more powerful than the xbox one gpu which is also the difference between 900p and 1080p.
If the xbox one can run at 900p the ps4 can run at 1080p.

are you sure this is the case? i feel like most of the time there is a certain times of the day that it tries to update when idle. Most of the time i find when i come home, as soon as i boot my ps4 from idle, THEN it starts downloading the updates. If i leave it over night then it downloads it at some point. But they don't trigger to update as soon as its available, unless you have the console. on.

I am happy to be proven wrong.

Yes, that's how it works for me also. Went to check out the new PES2015 update today and it only started downloading when I turned the PS4 on. Sucks.

Nah, I don't believe it's just the CPU at all. I've been a PC gamer long enough to know different.

Then as a PC gamer, explain how the system with the equivalent of a Radeon 7770 is outperforming the system with the equivalent of a 7850. And consider the fact that this is pretty much the only game out there with this issue, and that Ubisoft already states that they kept resolution the same on both "to avoid debates and stuff." Consider that other CPU-bound games have absolutely no issue running at higher resolution on PS4.

If the xbox one can run at 900p the ps4 can run at 1080p.

It genuinely is as simple as this 99% of the time. Ubisoft trying to prove otherwise in hopes that people will forget about their initial comment doesn't change that.

Seems like it's fixed enough for me to finally start trying to 100% it. Part of me is that that unity was such a fuck up because now they will certainly be determined to release Victory in the best state possible.

It's a visual error apparently.

Well then...

Okay, I figured...but it's crawling so I actually wasn't entirely sure haha

edit: Ya, to echo above, it's been nearly 5 minutes and I just now hit 2%...

Damn, I want it to patch so I can play it again, but at the same time, this is going to mess with my cap

If the game is CPU bound then even a GTX 980 wouldn't move the performance any further than it already is.

For future reference, in games that are CPU bound the Xbox One and PS4 will perform similarly, if that bothers you it's going to be a long generation for you.

That's frame rate. If your game is CPU bound to 20-30fps on an old AMD CPU for example, even if you got a GPU as fast as 10x 980s, the game will not exceed 25-30fps. What you will be able to do is run at higher resolution or higher graphics settings. It will be 20-30fps at 600p or 8K.

Sooo.....do they have any intentions of fixing initiates?
Just tried it for 5 minutes. At a glance, the performance difference isn't hugely noticeable in that the regular framerate is nothing to write home about.

And Initiates was still broken for me.

(PS4 version)

Didn't people with Halo and COD pre-loaded have issues with day 1 patches causing the entire game to redownload?

Could this be a similar issue?

We have been investigating this, it looks to be a display error.

The patch is 6.5GB on all platforms.

It's certainly acting like it's 40GB...download is crawling. 2% in over 5 minutes, and I'm at 105down, 15up connection

Certainly seems like it

-.-

I don't think so. That happened if you clicked install on the store page before waiting for it to transition to play.

EDIT: Patching system brings you to a different page than the store page, so yeah, they are nothing alike.

Kind of want to play this again. I rented it on the Xbox ONE and didn't really touch it much. If it does indeed improve I may pick it up if the price drop at Xmas happens. I have never completed a single game in this series, yet I have played and own most of the main games on PC!

I completely agree, and I'm not inclined to listen to any other Ubisoft spin when they already admitted the reason for the "parity," in no uncertain terms, in an unexpected moment of candor.
