Are you referring to the Ambassador edition? I doubt that will come to the US, though I wish t would.
The Shogun works in retail, so he is obviously referring to a retail release, which looks like it will happen next month.
is that what the old ones were priced at before the new ones launched?

Yes, I usually hear or know lot of things. But someone here on the last page already posted something more concrete.
I don't want to be seen as an insider and I don't want to spoil potential surprises. I'm pretty sure that is what most other people sitting on a bit more info are thinking too. Hype and surprises are always the best imo
so $199 for the New 3DS XL in North America sounds about right
Honestly I'd rather them do something else in a different genre. Mario Kart 8 and Sonic Racing is all the Kart racing that I need.
I would love if they made a game in one of the genres that need it most (even though I would buy Diddy Kong Racing for sure)
Kind of a Donkey Kong vs Metroid situation IMO.
I love Tropical Freeze but still think that Retro should have made Metroid 1st because Wii U had plenty of platformers and it could have used a huge epic game while everyone is waiting on Zelda/Xenoblade. They could have made DK after Metroid. (Bought DK anyway of course) Also they had just released a DK Returns port on the 3DS
fwiw the New 3DS is slightly bigger than the OG 3DS
The XL is the more popular SKU so it's guaranteed. The N3DS actually has a bigger screen than the OG though.

Yep. Hype is really fun. I have given no release date, or direct date or anything like that. Nintendo gets all the fun thats on them.
I'm just saying......hypotheticaly if Ninty decided to release an n3DS fans should probably be excited about something like that am I right?

Correct. I'm in the same conundrum.
These are barren weeks anyway, so pretty sure most would gladly welcome all kind of nice gaming news.
The XL screens are still a lot bigger though. OG 3DS is 3.53 inches, New 3DS is 3.88 inches and the XLs are 4.88 inches. Of course the trade off is that games don't look quite as nice on the big screens.

That rumor abut DKR is very very interesting. I'd totally be down for that. Seems like it might've should be a 3DS game since it feels like it'll launch too close to MK8, especially with MK8 DLC but if its real I will so get it, especially eince it seems like it'll have a robust single player mode, (Tho I'll probably stick mostly online anywayz.)
The fact that it'll include characters like Dillon is really cool. Hope its real! And hope the direct does happen on the 14th as rumored! (Tho I don't expect DKR till E3. I think the next Direct will have one or two new games for 3DS since its 1st party lineup is really bare atm.)

looking like $199 for the New XL and ~$169-ish for the plain New model (I couldn't find any current pricing for the OG 3DS, probably being phased out). the pricing should be identical to what the OG 3DS and XL go for new now if the pricing structure stays the same as it was in Japan.
also.....those Super Famicom buttons......

Yeah, but that's pretty much a non-event for someone looking to move to bigger screens. It's only a tiny bit bigger.
Re. that posting telling North American users to get ready, I'm in the UK but I'm totally ready to upgrade my NTSC 3DS. I really hope that the NA system keeps the Japanese/European colour face buttons. None of that nasty purple, please.
At this point, I'm assuming no general Direct this week, but a media event and/or specific Direct geared towards an impending N3DS release ASAP. I don't expect Majora or any specific game other than the previous Xenoblade trailer to be part of this, but I could be totally off since this is just pure speculation based on the above comments.
DKR2 rumor is mostly speculation supported by some evidence.
This is basically what I hearing - referring to the ND possibility. An event of some sort - still don't know what it will be or have - but I'm not sure there will be a ND.

I'm gonna need to see the price tag first. Most likely not going to get it though. Gonna save my money for the actual successor.
