DRIVECLUB: Japan complete preview - Free DLC releasing Monday, Jan 19

All those new tracks and they couldn't even have one city track?
You make it sound so simple. They obviously don't have any assets for those kinds of locales in the game as no other course to date has been city based. And it isn't a matter of just slapping some buildings into the game. I mean, sure its possible they could add cities, but you're taking about some serious dev-time there.

It's incredible how boring and dumb closed circuits look, even in the DC engine.

A testament to how damn good open tracks are. I love this game.

The new tracks look excellent and I can't wait for the tour/cars as well.

But seriously lets get some JDM representation! Z, Skyline, WRX and new Honda NSX pls :)

This game does DLC right. Adding free stuff without the season pass is great. The new tracks look amazing... Well, the whole game is amazing.
Personally, I got the season pass before the actual game came out... So I'm more than ready for months of updates, cars and SP tours!!

I agree.

Although, personally, I would love if the developers give me more options for the season pass.
For example in DC, I'm not interested in the Tour modes, but I do want the cars, so I would love a "cars only season pass", or atleast the option of buying them separately.

Looking great, was hoping for some Japanese cars this update to coincide with the Japan tracks.

Waiting for the new events.

Firstly, thanks OP for making this topic clarifying the details. I had been kind of following the other topic but missed the specifics of this update.

Secondly, goddamn the support for this game has been getting is superb. Amazing that this is free, and they're doing such a great job I'm tempted to get the season pass to show my support (and because I'm loving the game). Well done Evo for making an excellent game and giving it terrific support.

removal of velcro walls/rails on straights

Now that sounds like a nice piece of balancing. Can't use the walls to grind around corners, but don't get hammered for grazing one slightly on fast straights!

Cannot wait for this update.

Also - as with some posters above, I'm more a fan of the P2P races...here's a thought for a MP mode

P2P relay races. Teams at either end of a P2P track, running a relay style race. You'd get around the (probably hilarious) issues presented by having ONCOMING TRAFFIC by ghosting the cars going in the opposite direction. Although I think oncoming traffic would be fucking funny.

I think you can buy the car separately

Agreed. I really like this model. I bought the game a week or so ago, and getting to play the tracks for free is a pretty solid method of convincing me of the value of the Season Pass. Still waiting on the Pass myself, but I think with this month's update, I'll be pulling the trigger!
Agreed. It makes me want to buy the season pass so I can play the new tracks as events. I also like that they don't segment the online community by locking away the maps in MP behind a paywall.

WHAT

HOLY SHIT

They made a fucking course from Takahagi????? Middle of nowhere Tagahagi? Where I used to live??? Wtf?????

I have been talking shit about this game due to the ridiculously bad car selection

But I think this just sold me on a PS4

Edit: Wait they announced a bunch of different tracks in Japan and still haven't announced a single car from Japan?? How is this ok??

I love how this game keeps building onto itself, with most of its content being free. In the long run, I think that's going to keep my friends and I playing for at least another year, and maybe buy some additional content too if it's any good.

In contrast I plan to get Destiny second-hand so that I can buy up the expansion (from what I gather Destiny+expansion = regular amount of game content) and EA can just go fuck itself if it plans to put necessary content behind a paywall for the next Mass Effect.

Nice that they're continuing to insert features like Replays. Let's hope they'll let you tune the handling of your cars in the future.

Agreed :). I had so much fun with the game I wanted to reward them and got the season pass. After all I also got the game from PSN with the initial PSN+ discount. Such an amazingly well crafted and maintained racer, great job Evolution Studios!

Can't tell you how to spend your money on, but personally when I see underrated little gems like this, I do not regret giving the developer money when I can :).

It's not ok. But sometimes you can't entirely control how long a process would take when you are releasing a new IP and working with manufacturers to get through all the red tape. Rest assured that they are coming.

I`be been asking myself for a long time...Are you some kind of Driveclub-Insider or just a really great fan? Because you seem well informed :)

Logical thinking. If you need resources from an external entity/team/company, they may not go at your rythm because they have other things to do.

I was just about to post that its up. My ls4 is downloading a 5gb file though?

And YES

WINDSHIELS WIPER SPEEDS CHANGED :D :D

Very happy with the wiper speed implementation. Playing dash cam you can be blinded pretty badly by the bunching of water in the corner between wipes, especially at night.

Multiplayer Time Trials sound very interesting.

And none of that progression talk is about the gameplay.
