New Mario Party 10 character artwork

mp10newart1.jpg

More available here. The roster is looking quite small as of now, but hopefully this list isn't final. One of my biggest pet peeves is when developers add new characters to certain franchises, then remove them from later games without explaining why. It's even worse with a game like Mario Party, because the characters are basically just model swaps of each other. I'll be praying for Boo, Birdo, Dry Bones, Blooper, Hammer Bro., Koopa Troopa, and Shy Guy in advance in the likelihood that they will not be returning. :/

Playable Characters:

Mario
Luigi
Peach
Yoshi
Wario
Donkey Kong
Daisy
Waluigi
Toad
Toadette
Rosalina
Spike
Bowser (Bowser Party only)

Oh neat, now we know what all the mario artwork for wall decals and party supplies will look like in 4 years.

I like that artwork, but all players still riding around in a single car = no buy. I don't understand why they won't go back to the original setup.

Sorry Nintendo. This fancy art does not override the fact that your game:
  • Has a disappointing 4-person car mechanic with linear levels.
  • Locks "standard" Mario Party gameplay to Amiibo-exclusive content on a square, one-path board.
  • Has no online gameplay.

Nice try.

That is some of the best Peach art I've ever seen, though.

I do like how the list so far is all these recurring Mario spinoff characters and suddenly Spike.
It pleases me that he's finally playable, not so much that it's in Mario Party though.

Duckface Peach !

Now that it means basicaly that "playable characters = amiibos" my hopes for the roster are 300 times bigger

GIVE ME A BIRDO AMIIBO ! ><

It's funny how if you go back in time about a decade and a half and look at the very first Mario Party renders they were, in retrospect, some of the worst Nintendo's come out with, and now with this game they have some of the best.

Best Peach art I've seen in a while.

Renders like these and the Smash Bros models make me realize how pretty Peach really is.

Hey now, those MP1 scene renders made for a good set of title screens.
Right?

...Just looked them up again, childhood ruined, the Luigi's engine room one is kinda hilarious.

Lovely! I love the new renders of Mario and gang we've been getting on Wii U titles. They probably use some kind of ambient light now because they look more vivid and idk just more attractive :) The stitches on the M emblem in Mario's hat woah.

They certainly look less plastic than previous renders.

The CGI from the N64 era hasn't aged well at all. Just look at Rare. There were technological limitations at the time which made their character designs look worse than they actually are.

*shudders*

Honestly, her abdomen looks more like real human proportions and her eyes look slightly more angled in the newer version

Also, hello Peach's lips~

They have been fine-tuning all their character models the last few years so no surprise there.
Plus, they have been using really nice lighting techniques for their renders. It looks really soft and natural.

Im going to laugh so hard when Waluigi's is that mustache twirl render from Mario Party 6 that they've reused untouched in 2-3 other games now.

I dunno, I've got to say the N64 stuff has a charm to it that's still appealing even if they obviously aren't high-quality. The gamecube-era stuff like those poses they recreated seem worse because it's higher-poly and detailed but with bad lighting, gives me a more uncanny-valley type feel than N64.

I would love some general Nintendo decals. So happy I have those large Samus, Donkey Kong and Link Wall Graffix they released years ago. Though I won't put them up until I get a house and I'm sure I will stay in it for the foreseeable future.

Spike? Confused, but already picking him as my main.

That is, if I buy this. Which I probably won't if it's all just "ride in a car together" mode. I want classic Mario Party. Why change it?

This post is so weird. Has artwork ever pushed anyone into buying a game?

Anyway Nice artwork.
