Greg Miller is a silly person.

Anyway, I've played UC2 many times but ME2 only once, so I'm not sure which one I would pick, I'd have to replay ME2 (but I ain't gonna do that). I'll say that UC2 really is a perfectly distilled linear SP experience.

umm That article is 2 years old why in God's name are we linking it and talking about it now? 2 years man. Let that article die the sweet sweet death of mediocrity and fade into the past like it should've.

Mass Effect 2 had gameplay and plot, Uncharted had killer set pieces and good graphics.

Mass Effect 2 lost RPG elements, Uncharted 2 had really sloppy gunplay.

I find ME2 a lot more satisfying. Then again, I pretty much hate Uncharted because of its gameplay. #biasedasfuuu

I would say Mass Effect 2 hands down because of the setting, story and characters. If only they didn't dumb down the RPG system.

Uncharted 2 had much more interesting and varied environments, but ME2 has better combat and characters.

Ehhh, isn't it the opposite? The dialog in Mass Effect is cringeworthy & their characters are only cool because of other reasons, while the combat is clunky & boring. I also thought a lot of the environments (like the collector's base) were cool.

Uncharted has far better dialog & better written characters, & the combat is more fluid & enjoyable, while the environments were cool, I preferred space in ME.

ME2 had all the tools and themes that can surpass UC2, unfortunately they all fall flat with its pacing, padding and overall delivery of the product. It was such as step back from ME I really found it hard to contemplate.

Uncharted 2 did the opposite. It took the aspects of UC1 and dialled them all to 11 without missing a single beat. There is more adventure, discovery and punch in that game than the entire ME2 game even with their subsequent DLC's.

And let's not forget about how irrelvant your choices were when ME3 came to the picture.

Unsharted 2 was better for me. Then again, my experience was for ME2 was hunting for anomalies and being just 'meh' on everything elese.

Mass Effect 2. Uncharted 2 is probably my favourite PS3 game though.

Coming up on 5 years actually.

Uncharted 2 is a better game, better controls, better traversal, better characters and better story.

As for Mass Effect 2, clunky gameplay AND they basically stripped down Mass Effect into a boring shooting gallery and an overrated story, and a dull-ass main character, exploration replaced by planet scanning.

They're both really good but RPGs are my favourite genre so I'm going to have to go with ME2. Besides, UC2 was entirely eclipsed by TLOU.

Uncharted 2 has better dialog and characters? It's about as barebones as it gets - it's cookie cutter action / adventure stuff. Drake cruises around being smug and wisecracking about everything, occasionally stopping to talk business about whatever ancient map or treasure he's going after. It's fun but this isn't exactly Best Original Screenplay material.

The characters were what ME2 was all about. You spend most of the game recruiting them or winning their loyalty. It's a Bioware RPG so you also spend a lot of time talking to the characters in the "home base" area. The problem with ME2 was that the main questline was relatively weak by comparison to how strong many of the optional character quests were.

I would probably put all three Mass Effect games above Uncharted 2, but in many ways, Uncharted 2 was one of my most memorable gaming experiences ever and I'd still put it above 95% of what I played last gen.

Uncharted 2 for me. I've played it multiple times and can never get bored of it. Finished Mass Effect 2 once and never touched it again.

Really liked Uncharted 2, a lot.

But for me the answer is Mass Effect 2, and it's not close.

Just better characters, more interesting setting, more replayability, more depth, in every facet.

I give Mass Effect the "Trilogy of the Generation" over Uncharted, but Uncharted 2 was the best game out of the six.

Making me choose between Uncharted and Mass Effect is one of the cruelest things you could ever do to me, OP.

The suicide mission is also still one of the most memorable gameplay sequences I've ever experienced. How it finds a way to make use of your team in this final run is the stuff of legend.

The opening also outdoes Uncharted in spectacle too.

ME2 never lets up. What a ride

Mass Effect 2, and I don't think it's close to be honest. Uncharted 2 is an amazing game that is a thrill to play, but ME2 feels so much more substantial and impactful.

And that last 90 minute section... man, unbeatable.
Preach. ME2 is a near masterpiece.

I can see that. As great as Mass Effect 2 is, I feel like the first Mass Effect makes it even better because of the context, whereas if Uncharted 2 was the first Uncharted game, that series would not have been any worse as a result.

The dialogue and voice acting in Uncharted 2 felt a lot more natural to me. I couldn't take a lot of ME2 seriously because everything felt so stiff and stilted. Just because UC2 has a light story doesn't make it worse, I felt the game did a great job defining it's characters concisely and in an entertaining way. ME2 definitely develops its side characters more though, but that's in part due to the genre.

Uncharted 2 for me, and by a significant margin. Outside of the combat improvements, I felt ME2 was a step back from ME1 in pretty much every way. I absolutely LOVED ME1, and felt that the narrative in ME2 wasn't nearly as compelling. Not to mention it felt overly long and, to be honest, inconsequential. It felt like a filler story while we waited for ME3.

Overall, I think the characters, pacing, and gameplay in UC2 was better.

Uncharted 2, I don't even know how this can be a serious question (and I've played both games).

UC2 had perhaps the best-written single player of any game last gen. The setpieces were absurdly memorable and amazingly fun, and the storyline was written in a way very few games could even hope to execute.

Yes, the final level of the game (and final boss) were utter trash... but I felt the same against ME2's. The design was pretty sick though, won't lie.
The collapsing hotel is still probably my favorite scripted moment in any game since. I replayed that level so many times to play that section

UC2 had the better story.

ME2 had the better gameplay.

In all honesty, I've never been a big fan of Uncharted gameplay. Just go from place to place killing what seems to be thousands of enemies...and then you think how these "treasure hunters" could hire this many people and how Nathan Drake is this insane bad ass who can kill them all. I don't think I am saying anything new though.

Story and world is what makes UC great. ME2, not so much but it wasn't terrible.

Mass Effect pretty much in all aspects, not just the gameplay which is the obvious advantage ME has. Characters in ME2 felt more three dimensional and connecting with the environments was a blast, and I cared more about the story/mystery as well since the universe is also more interesting.

Mass Effect 2

And I platinumed Uncharted 2 as well so it's not like I don't like that one. But ME2 had me hooked.

Uncharted 2 proves that voice acting & dialog delivery is more important than complex writing, I never cringed while listening to Elena or Drake talk, but I did at every conversation in Mass Effect, which is why I said it had better dialog.

Truthfully, Naughty Dog are overrated as storytellers (yes I say that as a big ND fan), but when it comes to characters or dialog, they're easily the best in the industry, the plot in UC & TLOU is boring in isolation, it's the characters that make those games stand out.

Um what? I thought I was pretty well acknowledged that the gameplay of ME2 is it's weakest aspect. It's neither a good RPG, nor a good third person shooter. UC2 is a very good TPS.

Its gameplay was the most fun to me. Controls and shooting might not be Gears/Uncharted level but the added powers make it more fun than those two.
