Why the hell DotEmu is still in business?

How the hell do you lock a TBS to 30 fps. How?!

I still find it bizarre that so many people lament the loss of the random map generator and it just makes me think they never used it. HOMM3 is one of my all time favorite games and probably my single most played game of all time, and I can unequivocally say that the random map generator was always absolute garbage. HOMM3 maps need a human touch to really work right. But there were hundreds of scenarios that were hardly "play once and never touch again," not to mention thousands of user made maps that were drastically better than anything the random generator would crap out. I'm not saying the port is good, and it is disappointing that the expansions aren't there, but of all things to be missing out on, the random map generator really isn't worth missing.

My much bigger concern is people saying the touch controls of the tablet version are poor and illogical, which to me was the whole point of doing a tablet version. I'd have much rather they didn't mess with the graphics at all and just create a good tablet interface.

Fuck me, I just Alt-F4'ed out of Shovel Knight after reaching the last checkpoint in a long castle level and finding all secrets in it, because of a brainfart that made me think checkpoints are save points, only to realize my mistake a second later.

On the bright side, the knowledge has been reinforced now now rather than later. ;)

Hmmm.. now you're making me consider the game.

I had always assumed the reason people liked the Neptunia games was for the moé, fanservice, and to a lesser extent the video game references. If it's actually a decent game, I might want to play it. Especially now that Durante has fixed the port.

Well the story so far is pretty much fanservice with some videogame references thrown in, but the battles are pretty fun so far. My only worry is that it might not get any deeper in terms of skills from what it is at this point, you just get different skills to put in the combo slots.

I am only 6 hours into the game but it is pretty challenging as well. It's way better than I expected honestly.

It's too bad that they feel the audience isn't big enough to make these games in high quality like they used to.

I'm not sure if you've arrived there yet by now, but the Aqua Ring is an ugly mess(in a bad way), like they couldn't be asked to put actual effort there and those scenes stand out like a sore thumb. It looked great on the GC version.

And here was me moaning about Resi 6 being hard. REmake is busting my chops, though more mentally than anything else. It must be about 7-8 years since I've played this and I've pretty much forgotten everything. I'm running back and forth across this fecking mansion, inventory full up so have no free slots when I need to grab a specific item from the area I'm in, or forget which one's I have to combine or juggle around to solve the puzzle, even have to peg it back to the item box because being an idiot brought the wrong assortment of knick knacks to the room I thought they were to be used for. Yet despite all of that I'm still having a blast. Why aren't more games like this anymore? Bloody homogenised industry.

Preaching to the choir guys. Enjoyed my experience with REmake and hungry for more.

the ending selection of gat out of hell really feels like it may be like volition secretly polling their players for where do they want the series to go lol

gat out hell is kinda terrible, but also still pretty funny when it decides to actually do cutscenes, and flying is fun. i think i'm gonna just leave it at "game beaten", tho, and move on

finally got my wii emulator up and running with a borrowed wiimote so gonna try the metroid prime series for the first time

what do you think of prince of persia 2008?

haven't played a prince of persia game since the first one

Almost done with Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter. This game is just too relentless. Playing on normal but getting more frustrated than I should. Make one small mistake in your circle strafing and you're essentially dead.

I just started the final level (skipped the secret one) and wonder if I just suck or this game is difficult. HLTB lists average completion time at 6 hours - I've put in 9 so far. :(

Far Cry 4 is a great game, I was a little bummed when I first started playing it and it was so similar to Far Cry 3, but it's really opened up and it's got me hooked now. It looks really nice too on my old 7850, had to lock the FPS at 30fps but since it hasn't dropped below that it's been a pretty experience.

Just got their now
forgot about the other shark as well
and while it does look a little rough there really is only so much that could be done with the assets Capcom had. But like RE4 last year (as soon as you got to the castle the textures went downhill), I'm not letting any of it detract from the game itself.

Fingers crossed the rumors about RE0 turn out to be true. It's a bit different in its character switching mechanics but I really enjoyed it close to 15 years ago. Really going to be keeping an eye on Revelations 2 now.

That FF porting thread was something else...

The scars of Betraylation still run deep it seems.

I'm holding out on getting this game until I get a new graphics card.

Problem with Far Cry 4 is the repetition. If you can get past that, it's a pretty awesome experience.

I was thinking the same thing, but was pleasantly surprised at how nice it looks on a card like mine.

I find myself seeking out the repetitive stuff lol, I've went hunting for honey badgers for about 45 minutes and had a good time, so I think I'm good.

That's a positive way to go about it, and I feel the same way. It's something that was mentioned heavily in the OT thread and when I reached the location it stood out. Spoiler for those that haven't reached localtion:
The sharks haven't lost their touch, though, as I they still get a bite in before I reach safety.

How are you finding the original controls? It's been a satisfying experience getting re-accustomed on my end, and now navigating the environment like a pro. Haven't bothered with the alternate method.

RE0 has to come next, and Code Veronica X HD hopefully makes an appearance on the PC platform not to far in the future.

Edit: On the subject of action Resi, the 5 Steamworks patch can't come soon enough.

It being structurally identical to 3 is why I grew tired of it so quickly. The stuttering while driving and such I could put up with; the overbearing sense of familiarity I could not.

In my defence... yes. That's why you're the judge and I'm the law... talking... guy.
hypocrite is the word you're looking for <3

2008 isn't bad if you don't mind hand-holding(literally!). The artwork/world is beautiful, as is Elika, and if it clicks with you it can be a pretty good experience.
nah i didn't play it for a reason, not really my kind of thing

RE0 is all but confirmed after they showed and then removed it from that PS4 theme preview. CVX who knows. It's already on MT Framework so all the work is really already done. Guess it just depends on if they ever get around to it.

They have been ofdly quiet about the steam works patch. Part of me thinks they're doing more than just that.
