Motion blur, depth of field, chromatic aberration, film grain, lens distortion effects, and black bars. I wonder what the next atrocity for the sake of the cinematic they'll come up with next.

I guess the Order is joining Ryse as the only 3D next gen game with good IQ, so wonderful to see. (Infamous is up there, but there's still tons of aliasing) Really, really hope TXAA(or whatever they're using that is very close) becomes more common in console games.

Rockefellers. Skull and Bones. Microsoft. Al Qaeda. A Cabal of Bankers. The melting point of steel. What do these things have in common? Wake up sheeple, the landfill wasn't even REAL!
Can't wait to play it

The Order 1886 uses 4xMSAA for the aliasing.

Is it really that bad if we get one game with huge focus on cinematic looks and feel?

Usually in PC games things like film grain, chromatic aberration and DoF are the first things I disable (guess its just my old-school preference haha). They definitely can help with hiding imperfections and conveying certain effects/atmospheres though, so I can see why a developer may chose them.

It really doesn't bother me too much as I'm used to it by now... but I can't help but wonder... assuming its a solid 30fps with all these features on, what could it run at without them? Usually on PC they are fairly demanding in the FPS department.

I'm pretty impressed with that, not many console games have AA in that quality do they? All in all, what RAD was able to do with the visuals is mouth watering for a PS4 game and these screenshots really don't seem to do it justice compared to some video leaks I've seen.

looks so middling
it looks too clean.
Is it so much to ask for Sony to just eliminate the black bars?
Is this 2006? why is everything so brown.
This close to release and the best they can do is "screenshots"?!?
The Movie 1886
Good thing there are evenly spaced sandbags and boxes in that street for cover

Yep, that's a classic The Order thread!

I thought this was NeoGAF and not /v/.

Drive by shitposting is not encouraged here. The screenshots look great imo, but of course this thread will be full of "concern".

Of course, par for the course; it's a Sony exclusive...

I'm really looking forward to this, a little over a week away now. I just have to talk the wife into letting me buy it for my birthday 3 weeks early, lol.

it looks too clean. i kinda want it just to support RAD but not enough interest for me to buy at full price.
Too clean? Shit looks blurry as hell with all filtering and grain and CA and whatnot.

Still looks good, though. Definitely the most 'cinematic' game I've ever seen.

Really like this shot.

Game looks really good, but these filters and the horrible black bars... it's too distracting, don't like it at all.

Edit: Colors are fine, it fits the game, but the noise filter is bad. But the noise isn't visible in motion, so that's fine. Black bars are still horrible, hated them in The Evil Within. :p

Has nothing to do with it being a Sony exclusive, has to do with crappy level design in that shot and over used effects.

Ah yes, a classic The Order thread. Great to see we're back to form after the positiveness of the other threads we have going on right now. /s
Lol, ain't that truth. The pendulum swings widely with this one. Given that I've tried to avoid as much about the game as possible, I am torn with this game. From my limited prospective, it could either be 1) a short, on rails, QTE mash fest with stunning visuals, or 2) the best looking, most atmospheric and impressive game released this gen...effing grab bag (still day one for me though).

how come we are ok if a game decides to look like it was made of playdough or paper, but it's a no-no when a game decides to look blurry and grainy like a film? It looks great, a bit exaggerated, but beautiful nonetheless.

Game looks incredible in motion as is widely evident by now, but these screen are straight up bad. They make it look much more blurry and heavily filtered than it appears when actually seen in motion. Are they really official PR shots from Sony?

And you were able to deduce this from the 6 screenshots. Nicely done.

I changed my post before your post. That shot is horrible, I'm sorry. You can even see it continues even farther down the road.

You can watch videos of the game to see the over used effects, you don't need new screenshots for that.

The purpose of a thread is to discuss a game, or news about a game, or the industry.

Not to post dumb gifs and get all excited together.
