watched the vids. This seriously looks like my kind of game. Victorian-era art style, story priority, third person gameplay, the fancy refined language.

Please don't disappoint come release.

Well, it certainly looks gorgeous, but much of it is like a museum piece...you can look but can't touch. The world doesn't look alive to me. Well, the surrounding world does but you're in a small cordoned-off piece of it to the side. Gunplay looks fun though.

Being cinematic or not does not have anything to do with the re playability. The Last of Us is a very cinematic game but is very repayable to many people.
The Last of Us is also pretty different considering you can skip almost every cutscene, combat is often open ended and there is a big incentive to explore your environment on many occasions and a lot of details you can miss on your first go (like NPC moments). This leads to rather high replayability. Not to say The Order doesnt have any of that, but it looks more restricted for sure and you probably cant skip cutscenes which is going to make some early parts boring to replay I can imagine.

Yeah, I am hoping that changes a bit...They should at least make the areas expansive and they could have timed events where you are penalised for wondering off. I mean otherwise the disjunct between the meticulous recreation of London and being funneled down narrow corridors is going to be a little jarring. Still this is the opening sequence and apparently there are more expansive areas...London certainy isnt all claustraphobic

That early Lycan fight reminds me of Dead Space 2, nice sense of switching roles between hunter and hunted. The player is really bad though lol

Haha yeah the player seems to have poor awareness of what's happening around him. Many times I knew where the Lycan was in relation to him, yet he seemed clueless

Also it seems like hip fire is the way to go in these lycan battles, to give you extra maneuvrability. A lot like Uncharted 1's zombie/crawler things.

Just looking at the footage it seems as if the game/level designers have no idea what good non-linearity is. Like, it seems like they let you walk around and explore when the moments don't call for it, and for no real reason. I didn't imagine that areas that aren't tight enough would be a complaint I'd have looking at the game.

It was very odd to me that they let the player walk around but none of the NPCs react at all to him standing there listening in on their conversations. Considering all you can do is walk around I thought they would at least have that level of interactivity.

Hmm...lycan gameplay looks frustrating and not fun at all. Maybe it's just the dude playing.

It's the dude.

1. Missing the contextual actions to dodge and ward off

2. Keeps turning his back and running into the same corner repeatedly

3. In the second stage, keeps placing himself in an area where he can't cover multiple lanes at once, thus kept getting jumped

is
Sherlock Holmes
ever mentioned?
You know, Victorian and all

Nope. I think that one won't be in the game.

That bugged me a little that none of the NPCs seem to interact much (that first NPC dude did a greeting, but nothing else), but I think I'm over it already. It didn't look so animatronic like say Bioshock Infinite, and I really enjoyed how the collectables (if that's what the newspaper and pamphlet were) were done.

This is a valid point, although it's useful to remember this is just the first hour of the game. Still, I'd be lying if I said the environments didn't feel a bit sterile, the exploration bits kinda perfunctory.

But then of course this is from watching a video. Playing it might feel totally different.

I don't get that. If a game had a great story why would I not play it again? If a movie is good wouldn't you want to watch it again? If a book is good wouldn't you want to read it again? Maybe not the best analogies but if something is good or great to me I usually visit it again even if it will be the same experience

agree people who say things like that make no sense.

i've replayed my favorite games 5+ times. when something is good you will want to go back to it to relive good memories.

Looks like we got more footage of chapter 1. Here's quite a lot of it:
Part1
Part2
Part3
Part4
Part5

Watched most of what's in these minus the first video. Really liking what I'm seeing. The gunplay looks punchy and satisfying, some of the arenas and levels larger than I expected, naturally gob smacking visuals, great atmosphere, and pretty creepy parts. I also really like the characters, Igraine is sassy, La Fayette a ladies man, Percieval hardened and stern, Gallahad chivalrous and noble. The Lycan fight, whilst awesome, was frustrating to watch because of the player. Guy had poor awareness, on top of that kept leaving his Rifle with one or few bullets in the chamber. If you're fighting werewolves, keep your blooming weaponry fully mag'd lol.

I'm on vacation from the 18th until the 4th... and I guess there's no way to avoid spoilers after the game has been released, am I right?

double jump

you haven't lived until a random little kid ask you "how do you make love".
any info on the UI stuff yet ?
specifically if you can turn of the black bars ?

I know who is the last boss in The Order 1886!!!

Sherlock Holmes turned into a half vampire half werewolf creature, kidnapping the woman protagonist and having her hostage at the top of the Big Ben clock

Never have understood this sentiment. I replay linear games just like I rewatch films and reread books.

To some, certain games are only worth playing once and they don't feel like re-experiencing it again, like say Remember me.
This applies to linear/scripted and non-linear games alike.

So, the first chapter seems really long, I like it. But I'm wondering, how many chapters are there?

Oh that just reminded me…

When we played the 5th chapter at PSX, RAD said that is a little over 1/3rd into the game. I'm expecting 10-15 chapters, assuming they are all of similar length.

I can't stop watching that perfect landing...

I've kicked that object before, along with other folks here, and have never seen it land like that directly on the table. Well done.

Also, stop leaking the game, please. :(

I do appreciate you guys keeping it all in a single thread, however, and using the
spoiler
tags appropriately.

Also:
10 more days!

Yeah hope you aren't pissed that I'm actively posting links here. If stuff is gonna get out, might as well regulate it within one thread so unsuspecting folks aren't affected :)
