Rayman DLC leak for Super Smash Bros. Wii U [revealed fake]

Faking the menu in motion is much harder to fake than just still images, so it's still very much possible.

Also, I nabbed Lucario from that big image, nice to see the artist provided individual sprites. Now, to figure out how to get it full-sized and with alpha...

Edit: Nevermind, it was due to the auto-resize.

I think there's more deserving characters, Sora, Layton, Phoenix Wright, someone from rhythm paradise (which was rumoured), Bayonetta, not to mention the ton of first party characters Nintendo have yet to implement.

I would gladly take Phoenix, especially since Marvel is pretty much dead... hell, you could even use a similar moveset/style he has in MvC

edit: couldn't it jhave been faked by hacking the game?

Haha Sora seriously guys

What's wrong with Sora? Ha ha.
KH has given Nintendo a few exclusive games, I wouldn't say that's a small thing. Whether SE would actually let him be used in SSB is another story, but the way I see it you'd be pretty lucky to get your 3rd party character in SSB.

Others I've said, pretty much most of their games have been exclusive for Nintendo except bayonetta just half for her, but still.

Sora is owned by Disney so I don't see that happening. I would much rather have a Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest representative from Square. Moogle, Chocobo, Slime, Warrior of Light, Hero from DQIII... all would be a good fit.

as long as Lightning shows up in a Final Smash

Rayman would be a pretty awesome addition, imo. I also want Bomberman and Batman, just to make the roster the manliest of them all

It would be crazy big if we got Rayman alongside Mario, Sonic, Mega Man and Pac-Man. Those are like the biggest mascots out there.
I've always loved Rayman and his games, but I don't think he's on the same level as the others. I think they kind of cheapen the third-party thing by including him. On the other hand, it is exciting to see them do something like this. (Assuming it's real.)

I must be the only one that thinks the Smash 4 roster is pretty much perfect, eh? :p I really can't think of any character that I wanted and they didn't add him. Except Mewtwo but they managed to please me quite fast.

I'm somewhat indifferent for Rayman, but it's probably the best choice as far as 3rd party goes. Bayonetta is worse than Snake and pretty much any other character is too niche or weird. The only other character I'd be fine with DLC is that red guy from TW101, but I don't really care about him that much.

Of course he's not on the same level. Mario, Sonic, Mega Man and Pac-Man are in a class of their own. But it doesn't hurt getting a mascot like Rayman.

It's not perfect without the Ice Climbers.

I think Lucas needs to be in the game, personally. Mother 3 is a top 10 Nintendo game, the best RPG they've ever made and the best-written game they've put out. But besides that... yeah, I think it's mostly spot-on.

I say mostly because of one thing: as much as, yeah, Smash Bros. is a representation of Nintendo's history, and Nintendo's history obviously leans way closer to the Japanese industry than the Western one... there IS a lot of important Western contribution to Nintendo's various back catalogues, which I think deserves a proper nod. Playable Rayman would fill that need for me.

I don't get this at all. What other third-party characters could you begin to propose over Rayman? Beyond an SE character, people usually propose characters who are a lot less significant than Rayman. Bayonetta, Layton, Phoenix Wright, etc. Rayman is a pretty significant character, especially with Nintendo, and unlike Pac-Man and Mega Man, he's both significant in the US and in the present due to his recent releases.

I think I'd be against Rayman a week ago (well, not against, but indifferent), but a friend recently made me play through some levels of Rayman Legends with them in co-op and it was pretty fun.

Basically, game respect game.

I still think a SNES FF party character could work out. Though probably not for this game, given the whole 3DS memory issue for Icies. Alternatively, Crono.

Anyway, I think any popularity issues Rayman presents for, say, Japanese customers are countered by Mewtwo being part of this deal too.

The hell man.

Takamaru
Isaac
Any Advance Wars character
A billion Zelda characters (Impa, Demise, Ghirahim, Vaati, Tingle, Pig Ganon etc.)
Any Rhythm Heaven character
Mallo
Isabelle
Dark Samus
Dixie Kong
Captain Toad
More Pokemon? Shove some of those dudes in there why not

Not to mention a lot of people are already clamoring for reps from games that aren't out yet (Splatoon, New Fire Emblem, XCX, Codename STEAM etc.)

There's definitely some characters they can put in there. Most of them aren't really glaring omissions though. Honestly, the biggest new character in a game that sold millions is Isabelle. The rest dwell in cult favorite status and the land of forgotten toys.

Was just thinking that, but I wouldnt say Rayman is as big as those mascots in general, like he doesnt have as many games as the others for example, but I guess he is one of the few mascots still going and not in a bad way.
He is in terms of me personally though I guess. I didn't play mega man as a kid for example, but rayman was a cool game to play in a childhood.

Rayman definitely is one of the ones I've imagined would eventually become a Smash character, but I didn't expect it to happen this early. It's just weird to see him with Pac-Man, Sonic and Mega Man - three of the industry's biggest icons. When they eventually add more third-party characters in the future, it's going to seem more normal.

I do think he is a great choice for some Western representation though. Possibly the best one they could've picked.

I'm just going to throw out two salient points that I think a lot of people are forgetting:

  • Rayman Origins and Legends are both by far better than any 2D platformer Nintendo has released in the last 10 years.
  • Fucking Mega Man got in.

Bomberman is the only one missing.

Thank god for opinions. Wouldn't want to live on a planet where your word is law.

Isabelle is a character I totally expect to be in the next game. I just hope they find a way to make her unique.

Lucas is fine and actually he has a chance to return(iirc there was time limitations and they cut him, unless this has been disproved) but unless a Mother 3 rerelease happens I unfortunately can't see him returning. He's from a dead series, from a game that never left Japan. I like Lucas, more than Ness tbh, but I've accepted the fact that I'll never see him again outside of Brawl. :(

As a clone, he could be easily added in the game with DLC as part of a pack or something. If Sakurai intends to have this kind of DLC though...

I think the dead franchise argument isn't that important when you remember that Sakurai and Itoi are bros. In video games, personal favours and biases triumph over all. :p

This is just your crazy britishness talking.

Nah, NSMBU is better than both. Hell, the two DKC games are probably better than Legends. Not Origins though.

But yes Rayman is a godly platforming franchise and more than belongs.

Probably already said but I guess this would be more of a thank youto Ubi for at least attempting third party releases compared to like everyone else.
