Seriously, how long has it been in full development now? 2 years? So another 2 years? Early 2017 doesn't sound that far fetched.

People are investing way too much into some arbitrary percentage/number.

Even with regards to pace, FFVSXIII as we knew it was never KH fast.

Nomura was saying stuff as early as 2013 where he had to tone down stuff for it to appear realistic. Heck, he was even playing around with automatic weapon switching when he was Director.

Seems as fast as BbS for the most part. The point I'm making was that the game is not what it was when it was called vsXIII. That's all.

No. Nomura has already stated that at the time that it was announced the actual game wasn't in development. They had a concept and CG, that was about it. The percentage also doesn't mean much because you don't really know what it means to the developer.

This looks so much better combat-wise than FFXV it not even funny.

The slow-mo/pause in FFXV is the one that stands out to me immediately and I definitely do not like this addition.

Absolutely disgusting. Hopefully he keeps Kingdom Hearts pure and doesn't indulge in baby-mode features such as this (or at least put an optional way to manually switch weapons).

Even they were probably meant to, but the combat definitely looked way more KH esque in the Versus days.

If people are complaining about the combat then i think so.

So just because people are complaining about the combat means they can't like the look of all of the other aspects of FFXV? Think a little.

He always intended VSXIII to be different, anyway.

He's the visionary behind KH. I'm not even worried about his involvement in KH3.

And no jumping, no movement based dodging, movement in general has been greatly reduced. Then the combat speed has just been sucked out of it. I understand FFXV is a different game, it just doesnt look like a better one.

Oh chill. I was talking about people specifically complaing about the combat. And idk much about all these other aspects people complaining about.

It'll take a while, but game development doesn't progress at a linear rate. It's another 1-1.5 years tops. They'll force it into the next FY if it kills them, they're outsourcing a bunch to churn out all the assets they need.

That's exactly what i'm talking about. You're implying that people who don't like the look of the combat must not like the look of anything else that FFXV presents. It doesn't make any sense.

I really don't want to draw a line and label one side as "action" and the other side "non-action/pseudo-action" but to me FFXV is hardly action anymore. I've said it before previously but FFXV just doesn't look like it has the makings and foundations of an action game anymore. Because of it's pace and how we're told the way combat plays it just feels more like pseudo-action and to me that just sounds boring especially when you're told that Noctis has a lot of cool moves at his disposal.

I'm on the same boat. Everything they've announced just sounds like simplifying/automating of other action games features and the game doesn't even let you play as your party members. It doesn't sound appealing as a Final Fantasy game or action game to me. I'll hold semi-final judgement until the demo impressions come out though.

It seems like you're looking for an ability that's akin to dodge roll from KH2 or quick run. From what I've seen, there is movement based dodging, it's just slower. Besides, I expect more abilities to be unlocked at later levels, like in KH2.

Also, maybe I'm used to Tales too much but, I think having a lot of your combat tools tied to a single resource is rather bland and frankly speaking lazy. Perhaps it's just me. Someone tell me otherwise! =P

Just watched most of the footage and its looking great! I don't know if its because of the new director or not, but I appreciate how open the new developers are with this game. They must have a lot of condidence in XV to be showing it off this much.

Have you thought to remember that the demo has you playing at very low levels? This isn't even everything that the full Active Cross Battle system will include.

Yes. However, one doesn't need to play the entire game to judge the core design. Now judging the actual execution is a different story. I'm judging merely what's on paper and what we've seen.

Just because something isn't in the demo, doesn't mean it's not going to be in the final game, especially if it's something that has been shown recently. :)
 
XV isn't like KH now, so it's best if you moved on like I have. But this system isn't that bad. There is an element of strategy with weapon setups, and then there is strategy on the field with deciding which enemy to attack, where to attack him from (behind), take cover to recover HP/MP if you're getting overwhelmed, and helping out your AI when necessary. Even without summons, magic and AI control, the fights seem full on.

Maybe I should do a explanation thread?

Nomura said that the 2006 reveal trailer and the abilities we saw was an example of a high-level Noctis.

Tabata reiterated the same thing with gameplay just months ago.



And yeah, kill a lot of the hitstun. This looks so beautiful without the hitstun. You guys have a ton of visual feedback with particles, we don't need that much slowdown.

I understand the slowdown for critical, but this is overkill. Of course, I haven't played the game but just looking at it it's kinda crazy.

Wait I thought the combat shown in these recent vids were low level and that they stated that Noctis was at a higher level in a vid previous to this one?

This video was low level Noctis.

The one that had the weather demo and Behemoth/Goblin fight was higher level Noctis.
If I'm right.
