I love this game but I couldn't get through the monkey clock. It's so sad that it is kind of an early stage. I know that I'm not good at rhythm games, but I can at least beat the GBA and DS ones. Since the Wii U version is coming, I have to try this again.

This series is fantastic, pure joy in design. Everyone should play the first game, it's the toughest and has probably the best games on average, though there are fewer of them. Seriously, there are some games that are near impossible to perfect (the precision required for the second version of the ninja protector game, good lord).

The one I perfected last in Fever was the badminton game. The idea of having the distance change between you and the partner, changing the audio and visual feedback without altering the timing at all, was an absolutely ingenious psych-out, and the way it plays with it throughout the game is great. When the distance changes while you're blinded by clouds you'll probably keep it going anyway and that just rams the idea home while making you feel great for staying on point. So good.

Micro-row has got to be the lamest game in the entire series though. Outside of Moai Doo-wop, which was actually broken.
One of the best things about the game (though this is also due in part to the ambidextrous Wii remote controller) is that you can play all of the 2 player games by yourself (except the Rhythm Fighter toy, which is a versus game). Bossa Nova endless is really fun.
So true!

People always talk about monkey clock and Love Rap being the toughest (individual differences in offbeat recognition?) but for me it's always been Tap Dance. Was never ever ever able to get it to work consistently.

I remember the disappointment when, after hours and hours of rhytm paradise on my CRT, I bought a LED tv and tried this. The input lag even in game mode was noticeable.

I still find it weird that Monkey Clock is not only one of the games I'm best at, but it's also one of my favorites.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
No better feeling than getting a Perfect on every stage. Amazing game.

I'm surprised the monkey clock is so difficult for some people, I thought that was one of the easier ones. The most irritating one for me was the tap dancing, mainly because of the long bit at the end.

This guy gets it, but I guess it's each to their own.

I found Monkey Watch to be pretty easy. I just rewatched the video and while clapping along, found I could do it by the music and monkey sounds alone.

This is a series where you really need to have a good sense of rhythm, the games are very strict about timing. Across the DS and Wii versions there are maybe 4 or 5 minigames that I found really tricky to perfect but whenever there's a thread it seems like I'm in the minority and a lot of people struggle to even clear some minigames. It's certainly very demanding compared to most games in the genre, I hope they don't water down the 3DS version.

The European version actually lets you toggle between the English and Japanese tracks, at least with the songs (not sure about the cues and such). Would love if the American 3DS game does this if they localize it.

Sometimes I wonder if even my few years of crappy cello playing in Middle School helped out here. I haven't gotten all perfects, but I rarely had trouble getting my clears, and I've perfected about half of the Wii minigames and all but 2 of the DS ones.

Love Rap can go to hell. The timing is never really explained well. It just seems to be immediately after she gives her line. The Fishing game is tough to remember the cues, but at least it's understandable.

It's a little annoying how many games have cues with identical lengths. In the Rockets game, the blue and green rocket--while melodically different--both last the same length of time. Same with the Double Date soccer ball and basketball. There's also a lot more marching-like games in Fever compared to Gold, which just feels repetitive.

The only time I perfected Tap Troupe was when I didn't have the perfect chance and I also wasn't going for it. It was disheartening.

GOTG

That freaking Monkey Clock!

I swear I always hit the offbeat instead of the beat or the other way around.

My friend got it perfectly the first time around.

I still haven't finished it yet...

Feel free to join us in the Community thread anytime! And do check out the first two games. Tracking down a copy of the GBA one is worth it and not a steep investment, at all, while you should be able to find Gold for the cost of a loaf of bread.
Well then, consider me a new member of Rhythm Heaven GAF. And yeah, I plan on ordering a copy of Rhythm Heaven (Gold).

The game is so amazing. For me nothing beats See-Saw.

Agreed, & the music is so good in that.

Almost forgot to mention, I replaced all of the Wario Ware Inc. music in Project M with Rhythm Heaven Fever music. I even made Game Select 2 (Fever) one of the menu songs on PM.

I get so pumped when they start jump high and crashing super hard onto the seesaw. One of the most perfect mixes of gameplay and music.
Amen to that. I'd play it right now, but not only am I not that good at it, my roommate is asleep.

I wont patronize people having problems with Love Rap, my favorite minigame
Instead I'll try to help by analyzing the beats so you too can perfect it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N88roPhTo74 (We'll be using the japanese version, if you're used to English you already know which is which anyway)
Notation used will be lead girl out of parenthesis and player characters inside it

Edit: translations:
Into you is daisuki
Crazy into you is maji daisuki
fo sho is honto
All about you is Suki nanda

Most of the commands go:
DAisuki (DAisuki) | ONE two (THREE four)
MAji DAiSUki (MAji DAiSUki) | One two three (ONE two three)
SuKI nanda (SU-ki NAnDA) | ONE two (ONE two three)

Honto (fo sho) is different, it goes
HOnto (HOnto) | ONE and two (AND three and four
Basically half beat earlier than the rest, or RIGHT when she finishes
So it's One, Two AND three(hit a on the and)

What about in English?

I love this game, although I never got through Remix 10. I wonder how easy it'd be to pick up again.

Also, I never managed to do well with the DS version. I just could not consistently do the flicks. Anyone have any pointers?

I'm addicted to tap troupe's OKAY! when you do a good tap sequence. Even better when they bring out the confetti poppers. So satisfying!!!!

Another thing I really love about the DS and Wii Rhythm Heavens is all of the cameos from prior games. As a person who played the GBA one when it was relatively new
via emulation
, I really loved randomly seeing the space dancers playing table tennis, or the star walk guy randomly popping up during the idol game. And the Wii version turns it up even more with stuff like the images during the Cheer Readers.

And speaking of which, there's been almost no cheer reader love in this thread. They're two of my favorite games.

I can't fully appreciate it with the input lag on my TV.
