Could someone answer why they're afraid of vocals? I think the music has even insanely underrated so far and so it's quite frustrating to see so many people jumping on the 'music can't be good with vocals' bandwagon.

If a wagon is present, a band will jump on it. No surprise with GAF.

Just like the whole faces thing, which quickly turned into hatred for the entire models themselves, which are acually very well designed, and among some of the better ones out there. Minus a few awkward instances and/or mainly with one or two characters, the faces aren't that bad either, and complements the look they have going with this game. On the matter of music, the 'over-night' Sawano hate is a sight to behold. Much of it stemming from a disliked track(with vocals) and/or (presumed) battle theme people convinced themselves were the worst ever. Meanwhile, this game already seems poised to having a collection of awesome tracks. So yea, folks tend to blow everything way out of proportion, and love dem wagons...

Alright so correct me if I'm wrong.

Chaining the same color arts successively like melee art to melee art grants an increase in the "combo counter" depending on how many hits that art has.

Chaining different arts on the other hand grant buffs within the O.C gear but does not increase the count. Ex: Green to yellow grants a buff, purple to green grants buff but doesn't raise the counter number.

So finding a balance between these two is important.

Using my (nonexistent) photoshop skills, I have made an attempt to enhance some of the hidden backgrounds.

That's great, man. Gets me absurdly pumped to explore those areas.

My hype for this and Splatoon is peaking. Somehow, it's just setting in that I'll be playing those two, Star Fox and Zelda this year. This year could be absolutely monumental if all of these titles pay off.

The battle video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFeMcHr5Lp8

This is the music that played during the Overclock Gear part in the battle overview video.

I admittedly having been following this game as closely as I should but I thought you could only control your player character, but this video shows you playing as Lynn and Elma, did they change it or I am just mis-remembering things?

Damn, I'm going to have to get a Wii-U aren't I?

Just like in the first game, you can play as other party members. It was like that for a while, not exactly sure when it was confirmed, but I'm confident that it was like that always, but they didn't show it in the first two trailers at least.

From what I've seen.
Chaining the same color arts successively like melee art to melee art grants an increase in the "combo counter"
Yes
depending on how many hits that art has.
depending on how many hits that art hits.
Chaining different arts on the other hand grant buffs within the O.C gear but does not increase the count.
We've seen multiple times that purple arts after melee arts still increase count.
Ex: Green to yellow grants a buff, purple to green grants buff but doesn't raise the counter number.
I think so.
So finding a balance between these two is important.

So find a way to make OC Gear totally imbalance is important.

I don't know if they made it clear from the start, but in the first game you always play as the party's lead character. It'll be the same here.

Ahh ok cool, thanks. Must've gotten it mixed up with FF15. Good to know.

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
Damn, didn't realize this game came out next month in Japan.

I thought it was still a long way off.

I'm sure purple→red grants "Increase Body Part Damage".

Also, though not certain but I think triple yellow grants "Class EXP+10%" and triple red grants "Inner EXP+10%". Purple arts after any kinds of arts will grant different kinds of bonus, also TP bonus when it hit enemies.

Or those are all customizable. :p

I was the same way until playing Persona 3. I guess the lyrics make it seem less likely it will blend into the background as you hear it for hours on end. I've liked everything I've heard of XCX so far though.

Wow that was fast. Thanks!

Edit: Nice translation. Finished reading Part 3. So technically, NLA is not Los Angeles, but only used LA as a reference model for the residential district. Pretty much changed my perception about the new city.

Really? They mentioned that in the overview/exploration video 2 months ago for sure, I'm not sure if they mentioned it earlier than that though.
They were talking about how it's modeled after Los Angeles, and it's deliberately built to be like home so that we can relax in space. I still have to read this story, but they've all been great so far with the background. I'm pretty hyped for the story of this game, along with everything else.

the summon riding girl is such a surprising and exciting addition to X. It seems like she'll have a unique fighting style too :D

I may have not been paying attention enough lol. Thanks for pointing that out.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
Finished part 3 of the short story.

So I just got done reading part 3 and one thing I noticed is that even by the end of this story Elma is missing, I might have to go reread but I dont remember if they said the pilot that disappeared was a he or she, and if no gender connotations were used, its most likely Elma which begs the question of where in the world did Elma go, even at the end of part 3 we didnt have a clue where she might be, but she is clearly aware of neo los angelos and is familiar with the place by the time the game timeline starts.

Finished part 3 of the short story.

Thank you very much. You're the best.

Short story spoiler, followed by speculation:

Nagi’s thoughts drifted to the hero who disappeared after fighting off the bio-weapons, and the subordinate who mobilized with him. Colonel Elma was like his right-hand man, and Irina and Guin trusted her immensely. If she were around to guide the Residential Sector, they wouldn’t have had anything to worry about.

Ok, so Elma was the right-hand of this legendary hero. So is our protagonist going to be the (amnesiac) hero or will the hero be our ultimate antagonist?

He will definitely be part of the story.

I think Elma was that pilot's right-hand (wo)man.

She was Nagi's right-hand, though it's not really clear if the story was specifically referring to her as the hero's subordinate. I switched a (pro)noun around to make the hand thing a bit more clear now.

Ah ok, thanks. Obviously I am trying to extrapolate story details out of the short stories, because we still know little beyond the presise.

BTW: the way you translate the stories makes them read very well. They have a good flow, and one genuinely becomes interested in the story.

So just to make it clear, yeah you can choose who to play with in the game. With the first Xenoblade, you had your choice of three party members and whoever you put in the center was your lead character. A lot of the time Shulk wasn't in my party. This games looks to give you 4 party member options and you can lead with anybody you want.

Though it may be a requirement in this game to have your created character at least in the party even if they are not the controlled character. Not sure we know that yet.
