I still can't believe Konami fired Kojima. What else does Konami have besides some sports franchises?
Metal Gear.

Why they would fire such a name?
Too expensive for them to keep?
Maybe he punched a producer over a steak or something.
That being the case, Konami's long-term rivals could easily snap him up....I'm looking at you Capcom!
Hope not. The man has been quoted saying he will make videogames until he dies, I hope this whole mess hasn't soured his perspective to that degree. I want Kojima and his people to do whatever they want, he is my favorite game designer of all time. The question will be will he take one? Or make his own studio? Or take an early retirement?
You'd better believe it. By Microsoft and Sony at the very least. Maybe Activision, too.I wondered if he is being courted yet.
Kojima probably did something that pissed upper management. Don't see how else they get rid of him.Boy what could have happened. Maybe they fired a clone.
Yugioh and literally nothing else.I still can't believe Konami fired Kojima. What else does Konami have besides some sports franchises?
I do wonder whether Boyes has had a chat with him. Given that MGS5 is being marketed by Sony and they'll be appearing together at promo events...
We knew that, more or less. The other day I was wondering if it has anything to do with the budget of MGSV. You know, actors, new multiplatform engine, mocap tech, new studio in LA, heavy marketing, merchandise everywhere.. it must be pretty high.

Boy what could have happened. Maybe they fired a clone.
Something tells me this will not be happening.
FTFY. What do they even have left?
Maybe the Konami brass hate the fulton recovery stuff as much as I do and it returning in MGS5 was the last straw?
Seriously, though, this does kinda sound like someone being loose with words as much as anything. You could make the argument that Kojima has been constructively fired, but we don't know what the actual contract and employment situation he had was or how it has changed, and I doubt she knows precisely either.
Konami fired a genius who created one if their most successful franchises ever and was in the process of reviving another one. Well done.
I'm sure Sony will roll out the red carpet for this man.
Why are people taking sides with Kojima so easily? Sure, the one is a real person with an artistic vision (etc) and the other one is a big, evil company which only cares for money. I just don't think they would fire their winning horse for no good reason.
As much as I like Kojima and his games, theres gotta be some crap coming from his side too.
Probably never, but it doesn't seem to matter to most posters.I wonder how long before we get the "why" and not just more confirmation of the obvious.
They probably listened to Zero Punctuation's adviceDon't understand why Konami management has such disdain for its fans. They been spitting in our faces for years now.
Why does there have to be crap coming from Kojima? This could easily be Konami just not wanting to be in the AAA console space anymore.
