Yoshi's Woolly World: new batch of screenshots

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
So ready for this. Hope the gameplay is close to the original game. Really hope this is Yoshi's comeback.

Game better have some yarn Tap-Taps too.

I'm 100% sure we saw one in the last Nintendo Direct footage. I remember being excited about it.

This one is the most important new one

Really cute game, some previews are hitting today

My god... hub world looks amazing as well as the rest of the screenshots! Previews have been very positive and some of them even claim that this game can be the real worthy succesor of the original Yoshi's Island! Too bad who knows when we're we getting the game in 'merica. Lucky Europe is getting it in 2 months with the cute af set of yarn amiibo. Sigh.

This is a $30 release like epic yarn and captain toad right?

As far as I know it will be a full price title. Wich is a good indicator that it will have lot's of challenge and content and stuff.

My most-wanted Nintendo game at the moment. It just looks perfect in every way:

+ The look and feel of Yoshi's Story

+ The level design of Yoshi's Island

+ Challenging, according to previews

+ The return of transformations!

+ Costumes for Yoshi (i.e. Circus, Shy Guy)

+ Secrets, secrets everywhere!

+ No Baby Mario

+ Local co-op!

That's true of the base game, but going for 100% in KEY or any other Kirby game is plenty tough. We're working on KEY right now and some of the levels are very difficult to 100%!
That is true! 100% Super Star Ultra must be hell (I never tried).

Kirby's Epic Yarn was $50. I'm going to assume you meant Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, which is $40. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is $40.

I'm calling it now - Yoshi's Wooly World will be $50 when it launches in North America, like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.

That is an understatement. Some of those challenge things were brutal, like the Halberd shmup stage that was sped up while having to shoot for a certain number of beads (which required an unbroken chain).

If Wooly World winds up as easy as KEY but has challenge stuff like that, I won't mind at all.

What's this feeling emerging from the depth of my heart? It's beginning to overflow and fill my body with a comfortable warmness as it lulls me into a deep sleep I don't want to awaken from. I-I like it.

This game just looks so brilliant, so beautiful. I must have it.

The hub world looks great. Seriously can't wait for this game.

My only real worry is that the levels may end up looking a bit too samey. But hopefully the different themes are different enough. Different knitting techniques, lighting and materials could go a long way.

Don't the Yoshi games usually have 6 worlds?

Yup, each of them usually has 8 levels with an extra unlockable level in each... typically hitting a total of 54 levels? Only outlier was Yoshi's Island DS, but it featured an additional bonus level in each world which kind of made up for it. Par for the course, more or less.

Looking great ^_^ I only hope the music is better that all the other Yoshi games. The only good one is SMW2 and maybe two or three tracks from Yoshi's Story in my modest opinion. Damn I miss Athletic theme, castle, final bosses, giant baby Bowser (that guitar lol!) even map themes from SMW2... I'll never understand how hard they dropped the ball with the DS and 3DS games... *sigh*

They're definitely in the game.

Chomp Rocks too! Not entirely sure I like the color choices on them, but it's all colorful so it fits I guess. Hope there's multiple colors of Tap-Taps too.

That is true! 100% Super Star Ultra must be hell (I never tried).

It's really not THAT bad, I did it twice and highly recommend it. If anything Return to Dreamland feels harder. Marx Soul is hard, but oh so worth it.
Dat fucking scream

I doubt they'll make this one super easy though, "too easy" was by far the most common complaint of Epic Yarn and Yoshi's Island wasn't particularly easy, especially those extra stages.

Looks good, but I don't know if I like the backgrounds. They look a bit blurry and static, especially after playing Tropical Freeze.

Yeah call me crazy, but am I seeing this effect in these screenshots? It bugged me for a long time when I saw depth of field effects applied to games, especially bright & cartoony games. I wasn't sure what I was seeing until it was explained to me.

I love the little details, like the loop on top of the Shy-Guys' heads (that forms the tip of their hood in "normal" Mario games) being a loop of string that's pulled taut upwards when they're hanging from balloons or propellers.

This game is going to be awesome.

I believe Chomp Rocks are whatever color the Yarn Egg thrown at them was, at least for the ones that were Chain Chomps

Really wish that this was a 3D platformer instead of the 100th 2d side scroller :/
I am itching for more 3D platformers too, but I am also itching for a good Yoshi game, so I don't mind this being 2D.
It is. In order to get 100% you need to beat Helper to Hero with every helper.
Sounds grindy.

Marx! Kirby have such great final bosses. I beat Triple Deluxe a few weeks ago and Sectonia was a really fun battle. I am actually trying to 100% this game atm.

That 3D overworld shot makes me really wish Nintendo would make some fully 3D platformers other than Mario games.

Doesn't look as good as it did in videos, but it probably just looks better in motion. Looking forward to it, and those wooly amiibo.

Epic Yarn was a full priced title for Wii. If you mean Rainbow Curse then yes, it and Captain Toad were budget priced, but at 40$, not 30. Personally I could see this game being 50$ like Tropical Freeze (which was a steal by the way). I like that Nintendo has been flexible with their release prices.

Looks good, but I don't know if I like the backgrounds. They look a bit blurry and static, especially after playing Tropical Freeze.

It was the same way in Epic Yarn if I recall. Retro has always had incredible looking backgrounds, but Good Feel seem to go for a different approach, cramming as much detail into the foreground as possible with simple backgrounds.

Looks fantastic. D1 confirmed, with dat Yoshi wooly amiibo! :D

Yep, it's pretty normal that the game looks better in motion. Especially being 60fps.

Crucial question now - is it going to have a horrifying, ear bleed-inducing soundtrack?

Never forgive, never forget.

From the videogameplays we've seen, that doesn't seem to be the case.
