Nintendo - Amiibo Milestone: Shipments Reach 10.5 million

Hopefully Nintendo do restocks of prior waves! I really want a Villager and King Dedede. I mean Kirby and Animal Crossing are some of their biggest franchises so why are they so limited. Same for any Pokemon that is not Pikachu. :(
Have 6 myself. Would have much more if I could find them.

Lucina ;_;

Greninja ;_;
Yeah I feel like half of the Amiibos I want are unavailable in a minute or two, and considering I work two part time jobs it's rare for me to have a day off when the preorders go up (they happen seemingly randomly). Every retailer seems to be pissed at Nintendo too, to the point where competitors are having one of their selling points be 'we will actually supply you guys'.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???

I'll wait for a year when they are 70% off. Well the common ones.

Tangent: Please help me. What is the name of the guy that did the really good indepth analysis-reviews of the core 3D Mario games starting with Mario 64?

I was bringing it up to a friend and couldn't find it on my youtube favorites.

I jokingly (?) hold all those people saying that there would be a ton of Villager and Wii Fit Trainer Amiibos on clearance in a few months for what happened.

Seeing so many posts mad me decide to not get both be I thought they would get discounted later.

...they were in my hand.

Yup. I really want Wii Fit Trainer as sees my favorite new character in SS4. I actually play the Wii Fit games.

I'm just holding out hope she'll get restocked.

I luckily got the Splatoon Amiibo set when someone on GAF pointed out Walmart still had them for preorder.

I don't have a Wii U nor 3DS (lost it) and I have 10 Amiibo. I'll be picking up all the Smash line Amiibo releasing in the coming months too. Once Nintendo figures out their shit and supply isn't constrained they'll be selling a shitload more.

I'm sure this news brought Gonzo the Great to the edge of death. But much like a Sayian, I'm sure it'll just make him come back even stronger.

Hopefully Iwata pulls through on those restocks. We're already getting more of Shulk & Marth, do the rest of the unicorns.

After I got the Squid Three-Pack, I am kind of over Amiibo but I am sure something will happen like that unique Yoshi one that will get me back on the crazy train.

I thought there was a market for these thingies but I didn't think they'd sell this well nor did Nintendo.

I'm all for anything that makes them money as long as it helps them stay in the game.

No, I'm still very much alive! And I'm not surprised at all by these numbers, nor am I going to be surprised when the Amiibo bubble bursts a few years from now. Maybe I'll forgive them if they release a Donkey Kong Country line.

Amiibo have outsold Wii U, but by less an 1 million. Wii U is not at 5 million
I'm an idiot, I got Mario Kart 8 LTD numbers mixed up with Wii U LTD numbers in my head XD

I often hear the shortages are worse in EU and AUS. AUS, especially has such low stock all the time. NA is just much more louder in their anger about shortages.
We have a ton of Metaknights after the restock though.

bored at work, quick and dodgy maths:

japan 127,300,000
NA 528,700,000
Western Europe 397,500,000
Australia 23,130,000

10,500,000 amiibos shipped

11% Japan - 1,155,000 - 110.2:1 people to amiibo ratio
66% NA - 6,930,000 - 76.3:1 people to amiibo ratio
20% Europe - 2,100,000 - 189.3:1 people to amiibo ratio
3% Australia - 315,000 - 73.4:1 people to amiibo ratio

Australias thirst for Amiibos.

i'm sure if you include the sell through (90% for Aus, couldn't remember the others) it'd be different again.

Every bubble burst at some point. You act as if they supposed to sell 40 million amiibos for 99 years straight.

Well I have around 50 so I'm accounting for 3672 people eh? Actually about 20 of those were bought in Japan and a few were bought from europe and NA via ebay...

...they were in my hand.

A few weeks ago I was visiting Leipzig, Germany and I came across Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, all Pokemon, Pit, Captain Falcon and pretty much every amiibo ranging from common to rare in the US and UK etc (except Little Mac). All in big Muller and/or Media Markt stores and all for normal prices.

Imagine my surprise as I held them in my hands! For multiple days I debated with myself whether to buy them, even coming back to the shops to look at them a second time. In the end I decided against wanting to collect them all and as such against buying the ones I didn't want for myself. I then debated whether I should buy them to sell them, but decided against that as well due to my inexperience and general disinterest in doing such things (though if I had done so, I would have sold them to GAF members for a decent price; I'm not a scalper).

While I might have resisted the lure of plastic Nintendo goodness, I still partly regret my decision now...I could have them all by now (except Little Mac) instead of just Mega Man and Wario (which I always knew I wanted)...or helped my fellow GAF amiibro's out...

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Amiibos shipment up to December 31st, 2014 - 5.7 millions
Amiibos shipment up to March 31st, 2015 - 10.5 millions

Amiibos shipment {2015.1.1 - 2015.3.31} - 4.8 millions

A low drop compared to the Holiday (and launch) period. They're doing very well.

Not on the same level as Skylanders, though: as March 31st, 2012, there were already over 30 millions toys sold (unclear if shipped or sold) http://content.usatoday.com/communi...-million-skylanders-toys-sold-/1#.VUyBro7tmko

But, even then...I summon Nirolak! Nirolak, were there already packs with multiple toys back when the first Skylanders launched, weren't they?

At least, every starter pack (up to last year's trap team) had 3 Skylanders inside, and they counted those in that estimate

And they could sell so many more.

Even though the stock has been shit and preorders a giant clusterfuck, I think the frenzy really helps sell them more than they otherwise would.

They're fringe feature figures for the poorly selling wiiu and a new 3ds model.

I wouldn't have bought 10 without the bullshit urgency clashing with my collectors disease.

And they could sell so many more.

I feel like one of the reasons they became popular and why they sell out within minutes is because collectors, and then resellers, realized some are produced in limited quantaties. If all were constantly available I have doubts that the current frenzy would exist. It's definitely helped fuel the frenzy but if thet were all readily available I'm not certain they would have sold significantly more.
