Yeah, at this point it's about setting the right ones instead of dumping my points everywhere per class. Dunban still feels relativity useless though.

That's good to hear on the Mechon front. Are there any more gimmicky fights?

And I get attacked by anything with those eye markers if I so much as pass by them. It might be that I'm not actually ten levels above! I'll check later today.

X seems to have a lot of ways of speeding things up, so it might be more for me, but I won't give up on the first one!

Nah Dunban is the best tank in the game. He has good Agility which means he has high accuracy and high evasion which means he gets hit less which means he needs less healing. Give him Agility Up gems and light armor, skill link the decrease armor weight/Agility Up skills onto him, level up Serene Heart, and watch enemy attacks go Miss Miss Miss. He can also single-handedly inflict Daze on enemies though it's a relatively complicated chain of attacks that the AI can't pull off reliably IIRC.

And yeah once you're ~6 levels above an enemy, their name tag color should switch to black which means that they won't target you even if they have the eye/sound/ether marker. You can just walk up next to them and nothing will happen. Of course, Unique Monsters will always attack without regards to level but I don't mind You Will Know Our Names suddenly kicking in :p

I don't think I'd use this armor myself (I need everyone fully dressed for cutscenes!) but glad to see it exists :D

Trying to figure out a good balance to playing with a challenge. I don't like doing quests below my level since there's no challenge and just running around can be a bore (like Tatsu's sunglasses quest), but it feels like there's a kizuna quest almost every level, so if I keep doing them I'll end up waaaaay above story missions and have no challenge there. Hmmmmm, maybe I should do story missions as soon as possible, then kizuna quests.

Kinda got eager to see this and have been seeing some gameplay footage on YouTube. Looks totally awesome. The only gripe I have with this game(though it's minor in comparison to all the good, it will still impair my ability to enjoy the game as an full experience) is that the music.... god.... sucks. Compared to the first Xenoblade Chronicles, damn. It's just as disappointing as the musical change brought about with Bravely Second.

So, my main worry waiting for Xenoblade X is that it won't have a plot compareable to the rest of the Xeno games. I don't want it to be like other open world games where I do the plot as an after thought. So people playing it, what's the verdict?

20 hours in and the plot is kind of like Xenoblade meets Assassin's Creed open world games. Do side stuff, explore, fight monsters, get to know the npcs, inhabitants and the lore of the world, do a story mission here and there every few hours and get some main plot movement, repeat.

The game actually reminds me a lot of FFX-2, it's not really so much about the plot but fleshing out and exploring this new world and the stories of the people in it. Once you accept that it's not a plot-driven game, it's great fun, just like FFX-2 was.

Honestly, the music fits the fun tone of the game. A score like the original would feel pretty out of place in this one. I like the score a lot by now. Only downside is lack of tracks for a 100 hour rpg (soundtrack is 55 tracks total).

Beat the main story yesterday. Time for some affinity quests tonight.

Also every one should try to fight those water-drinking "dinosaur" once...

Care to tell (in a PM because this is not the spoiler thread) if the story throws a "point of no return" for quests or something that I should know about?
If there is, I don't need specifics other than "you'd better do this before starting chapter X's story mission" for example :p

There's no such thing, probably because it would make clearing the whole map impossible (leaving a blank spot) if you'd miss a quest.

Posting here coz I know some were asking, according to Dengeki, XCX sold 86K its first week, outselling Xenoblades 72K first week by 15,000 units. Third best seller of the week behind the Puzzle & Dragons/Super Mario crossover (178.5k) and an expansion for DQX on Wii U (89.5K). Apparently, the game has a 70% sell-through rate on stock, too.

Pretty good result for X imo. Not the best, but still somehow above decent and didn't bomb lol.

Hopefully it will be a long seller like Xenoblade in Japan.

Those are pretty solid numbers. I think Nintendo would be pleased with them.

Thanks, so I don't need to absolutely do everything I can get to before each story mission. Good to know if I'm impatient to get the flying pack.

I love they do that, because timed quests, event though they were cool in Xenoblade, still stress me out a lot. Knowing I can kick back and just do anything whenever is really good news.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own

So I found a video where someone was paying homage to the first time we saw a Doll all the way back in January 2013. So I thought, why not do a comparison?

Some things to note with these pics
1. This was obviously a homage rather than an attempt to do a 1:1 comparison so the earlier footage is more zoomed in, some angles are off and the time of day is different.

2. This comparison is more to see how the geography of the area and it's textures have changed in the past two years.

3. The captures from the original trailer are blurry due to the fact that that's simply the way the video was and Nintendo never uploaded a better quality trailer anywhere.

Awesome find chad, but wheres the comparison video?

Losing only to P&D (with Mario) and DQ? I'd say that's pretty good!

Hopefully the game also has some legs.

I won't be able to play it for a few hours, but I'm mostly curious about the support dlc rewards for lv 50 quests. Could you post them? I think it should outright say what you're going to get at the quest selection screen.

There were supposed to be ~90 songs according to Takahashi. Maybe some of them got combined on the OST?

So, any romance?

I am a sucker for romance, and since Xenogears-Xenosaga-Xenoblade all featured strong romance elements, I thought I'd ask.

OST part 2 :^)

I wonder if there's enough for a part 2... night themes and other songs could work but I don't know until I get the soundtrack. Even with double tracks in the song names it doesn't seem to break 60 songs...

Although I remember in Unicorn, there were double songs that weren't listed as such and the usage in the episodes made me wonder "what song is that!?"

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Irina show her soft side...

Is there an option to turn off the "Write a report!" notification in the bottom left? I know there are a ton of HUD options, but I have no idea which one that is.

Iirc it doesn't appear if you have the reports turned off (tap the report icon on the gamepad).

In case anyone is wondering, the Support DLC quests are accessed from the menu in BLADE home that you get your Union Salary from. The character quests you get from the Quest Board in the BLADE Area.

I can have a look now, if you still want them, I sort of scanned through them at first.

I refrained from walking into this thread for one week, because I knew I'd end up wanting the game even more. My WiiU is hungry!!

Yes, I'm still curious!

Creating a new user account should work as a substitute for multiple saves on one account...I hope. That's the only use case I care about anyway since I'd want other people who use the console to have their own saves.

Level cap is 60? That's kind of... disappointing? I would have bet for another usual 99 cap, will they maybe go for a raise of the cap in later DLCs/Expansions? I wouldn't mind that.

that would be a solution, thanks for the answers

I doubt they'll do that, since level cap is already written in the manual, and higher level enemies are designed to be beaten by dolls.

The level cap for your characters is 60 but the Dolls have their own levels through parts and they make you stronger. It basically means that once you reach 60,you need to start upgrading your dolls so you can take on the higher level enemies.

Also, class levels add to your level too I think.

Its more like you need to buy dolls at the correct level for their parts upgrades. As it seems that you cant go sticking lv 50 parts on a lv 30 frame.

Sorry so, but can anyone can answer my question before?

Whether this game has romance or not, since Xenogears-Xenosaga-Xenoblade all has strong romance elements and I enjoyed the way Takahashi did his romances.

Well, I still haven't done chapter 10, exploring all the things is eating up an amazing amount of play time. Maxed out two of my field skills though, and got this cute decal(among some very random other ones) for hitting BLADE level 10. I think someone else might have posted it here a while ago...

Also trying to build a super weapon. Gonna need a bunch of tickets if I can't find the enemies that drop the rest of the parts I need :/
