Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition release date, pricing, gameplay trailer, and costumes

Why? What's good DmC is good for Devil May Cry, right?
Why not? DMC4 outselling DmC doesn't have to mean DmC sold poorly. Not to mention DMC 4 selling well is also good for Devil May Cry, right?

Plus, they're more than likely already making DMC5 anyway.
Didn't you repeatedly type this back when DmC vanilla was being released? Like it'll eventually be right by virtue of Capcom not having many franchises to fall back on, but still.

Was hoping for maybe $5 less on PC than consoles since much of the game already exists there, but not being $40 is a good call, obviously.

Sill might have to wait though on PC.

Not at all, what does it have aside from higher res and LDK difficulty?

Most of the new content (new characters, cutscenes, costumes etc.) are new.

Also PSA:

Achievements for DMC4SE are really fucking hard and long.

*Beat every single mode with S rank ratings (that means Human up to Dante Must Die).

*Beat every single boss with a SSS rating.

*Beat Bloody Palace with every single character.

*Beat BP with a S rank and under 2 hours.

And here's the kicker...

*Beat Dante in Bloody Palace (the Floor 101 boss) without getting hit!

I just get the impression people are trying to make this into a contest of which title will sell better. No need for that. Both games can boost the franchise. Nothing wrong with having healthy growth for both.

And yeah, DMC5 is a certainty. That's pretty clear, I think. Why else release two games from the same franchise (in addition to the bonus content for other titles) during the same year? This is the cultivation phase, you see.

The base game.
I'm not discounting the quality of the additions. All the upgrades from the old versions are new to consoles, but less so for owners of the original PC game. It feels more like an upgrade or an expansion on the PC side a la Ultra SF with the base game already existing there.

Capcom: "The Devil May Cry Series can certainly be expanded

a new interview published on a Hong Kong gaming magazine, series producer Hideaki Itsuno has confirmed that Capcom certainly thinks that the Devil May Cry series might be expanded. Apparently the better the Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition sells, the sooner this new game will come.

(That "The better it sells" is standard Capcom PR)

Ninja Theory: "Ninja Theory Isn’t Working on Anything Else DmC Related, “Nor is Anything Planned”

Tameen also confirmed in a Hellblade interview that they aren't working on a sequel. Add to that all the brand advertisement (Sengoku Basara x Devil May Cry; Dante and Vergil in Project X Zone 2; Dante in Monster Hunter; Rereleasing DMC soundtracks; Special Edtion of DMC 4 with fan favorite characters; DmC DE with fan feedback; etc), unless we are getting a massive bait and switch, either we get Devil May Cry 5 or nothing at all.

That's what it is for consoles as well.

Most of the base content is the same.

The vast majority of the new content is new for both versions.

One is her DMC3 outfit and the second seems to be a black suit + blonde hair version of her DMC4 outfit.
I think I get it now.

That glasses Trish costume is actually her "Lady" alt.

And the black suit/blond hair version of Lady outfit is actually her "Trish" alt.

So we are going to be getting Dante/Vergil palette swaps as well just like in UMVC3...

I also saw a Nero "Vergil" alt costume in the video at 1:41. He had the blue coat as opposed to his standard purple coat.

Dante has the black hair black coat, white undershirt costume.

Also it seems like during the LDK costume, Dante' effects are changed from red to purple.

Watch there be a DmC palette swap. I just know it's gonna be there.

Look harder, fam.

We in there.

So for costumes:

Nero: Standard, Scarf, Vergil

Dante: Standard, Sparda, Black Hair

Vergil: Standard, Corrupted

Lady: Standard, DMC 3, Blond hair

Trish: Standard, Gloria, Black Hair

Too bad they didn't get some Street Fighter colors in there.

Ryu colors for Dante, Chun Li colors for Trish etc. would have been sweet.

Yes, most of the new content is new, obviously, but it's really just a matter of perspective. Coming from no playable option on the on PS4/XO versus the definitive version on PC which is being used as the base for the port has a different feel.

It's not a huge deal, but that being considered, a slightly lower pricing on the PC version is not that unreasonable of an idea. PC games do have better sales right out of the gate, so that was probably a factor in keeping prices the same.

$24.99 does not convert to £19.99 Capcom.

At current exchange rates, $24.99 is £15.92. Let's round it up to £16 as it makes calculating VAT easier.

Yes, that's right, our 20% VAT (thanks George). £16 with VAT is £19.20. I'm not going to get hung up over 79p, I must be honest. Considering exchange rates go up and down all the time, I think this is actually a very reasonable price when you consider the 20% in taxes we pay. If you want to get angry about VAT, that's another matter, but I don't think we can shit over Capcom for regional taxation.

And if you're really opposed to paying VAT, buy a US PSN/XBL card and buy it from the American store and you can save your £3.28.

I see what you mean but it's not really a "no playable option on PS4/XO" situation since a lot of the people buying on console will have played/owned the game on PS3/360 before. They too are buying the game a second time just like the PC ppl.

Good price.

If those are the only extra costumes (palette swaps aside), I'll be annoyed. I never expected to say this, but I want costume DLC.

LMAO that Dante alt IS in fact DmC Dante!

He has the white under shirt, the black coat with red highlights and black hair.

Though they did a much lazier job than NT did with the OG DMC costumes. This is just a straight up palette swap... NT actually made legitimate costumes for Dante.

It looks like they removed his coat. He's sleeveless.

I'd say they put as much effort into DmC Dante's look as NT put into DmC Dante's look

Sorry, I just think DmC Dante's look is so lazy and uninteresting.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
$25? I'll be there day 1. PS4 or PC? Hmm

It needs a DMC1 Dante costume and for £19.99 I'll happily get this
but I don't have a PS4 yet so I can't actually get it day one.

I guess I could cheese Dante by just double jumping and spamming Pandora infinitly maybe.

Someone refresh my memory on the stage rankings. Using a super character lowered your ranking so you couldn't get an S ranking right? Also didn't the rankings go up to SSS?
