Can't wait for the Bethesda conference (probably looking forward to this one out of them all). Fallout 4, Dishonored 2, Doom....yes please !

Uhh because it's been their strategy since the reveal? Watchdogs and Destiny dominated every event from the reveal on. Destiny has had major stage time at literally every reveal since it was announced. This one will be no different given their contract. If they went all out on Blops like the rumors say I don't see how they couldn't try to capitilize on that. That's been their strategy this time around unfortunately.

msdstc! I have to say I finally worked through all that crow back during our Order 1886 conversation. Its not to bad if you bread and fry it. :)

There's always a healthy degree of 3rd party titles at both MS and Sony conferences. Sounds like we're really talking ratios of 1st party to 3rd party. I agree with you on the strategy Sony has used thus far. I do think folks should consider the context of why that strategy was in place. It was early in the generation and I think its pretty evident that a lot of studios across the industry weren't ready to show (EA's showing, MS's reliance on CGI, Sony coasting on 3rd parties and limiting reveals of 1st party). Its still early in the generation but time marches forward, titles mature, and situations change. Consequently, their strategy can change as a result. I'm sure they'll try to capitalize on 3rd parties for sure...why wouldn't they? Capitalize on any and all strengths that you can.

But I don't think that necessarily means that is all they will do. There will be some AAA exclusives revealed (my guess is 3). Of course, Sony won't show everything. they'll keep alot of this stuff for other shows (which I like cause its gives you something to look forward to). MS's will be less about new (outside Rare) and more about revealing gameplay on games people know and are excited about. Sony's titles will be more about new titles we dont' know about and reveals on 3rd party games we know about. And of course they'll spread further announcements over subsequent events.

Is it really necessary to write MS like that?

So that would be:
Deep Down
Dragon's Dogma Online
Street Fighter V
Something else (Resi - unlikely, DMC - maybe, Monster Hunter - unlikely unless they can get the 3DS graphics engine running on PS4, Onimusha - probably dead, Dino Crisis - even deader || any other likely Capcom series I've missed?)

That's a lot of partnerships with Sony if true.

If there is a God it will be Phantasy Star Online Episode 3 and I will cry tears of joy.

Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
I hope Sony has some announcements @ E3. I love the ps4 but the holiday lineup looks kinda bleak.

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment
Microsoft is hyping this E3 up as the reveal of the greatest fall line-up ever for Xbox, so we'll see what happens. I'm cautiously optimistic. I definitely think it's been long enough to see the changes that Phil Spencer has directed within the Xbox division, so I do have high hopes. I really hope Scalebound is shown, and Phantom Dust is reconfirmed to be in development (even if it's changed studios). It would also be awesome if there were unknown IP unexpectedly announced from unusual studios at the conference as well, but their conference will still be awesome if it includes gameplay of most of the games announced last E3 (Scalebound, Crackdown, Halo 5 - campaign/maybe BTB/other multiplayer modes reveal, Gears, etc.).

If Gears 4 is shown, that would be pretty astonishing.

I think all the pessimism for Sony will work in their favor.

Honestly, every year's Sony is filled with some amount of pessimism.

Either because they're not talking about it as loudly as MS does ( remember all the threads made of Phil Spencer tweets? ), or because people think "oh, they have Gamescom & TGS too" recalibration of expectations, or simply because the past 2 pre-E3 discussions have been filled with "MS is going to moneyhat everything!"

I'd be 100% fine without a PS4 exclusive AAA game this holiday. I don't even want to think about how much money I'll be dropping into multiplats and indies from october to march '16.

I still think there is a really good chance of an announcement of a holiday game though. My perception of the UC4 delay is that it was made confidently, based on how early the delay was announced.

True. It really feels as though Sony is expected to follow MS's approach. They always have way more content. If you look at it collectively for the year in announcements or in releases, they have more. But it seems folks just want them to reveal them all at once so fans can say "See!? Told you Sony has all the games". MS will likely go quiet for the rest of the conferences to come. A large part of their E3 last time was CGI and large part of this E3 conference will likely be revisiting old announcements. I know it all comes down to preference...but Sony will have new announcements and will always have a ton of games...even if they don't come exactly when you want them.

Suicide Squad game by WB Montreal. That's my only guess.

I would be okay with this. Hints at Rocksteady's next game won't be there due to Arkham Knight (although recent rumors/information suggest it's another DC property), so Suicide Squad (which I could see releasing around the same time as the film) and/or Injustice 2 do seem like pretty good predictions/guesses.

Every sony e3 pressed will be deemed as a dissapointment unless they drop legit bombs (Eg 299, 399 share video , tlg etc) it's the nature of the beast when you're comparing with past events over 10+ years not every year will be better

I'm sorry I don't know what you're referring to. Was it the length of the game argument, or was it that I was an xbot? I honestly don't remember, there was a lot going on all because I thought the game looked bad.

That's fine, but does it change what I said? nope. Everyone was tired of seeing watchdogs/destiny take up a huge chunk of the conference. We STILL saw destiny get stage time at PSX, what makes you think this will be different? Also if they ponied up big to take COD, which is usually MSFTs goto, than why wouldn't they unleash that? I'm not saying it will be the whole conference, just that the stage presentations will be limited by these games.

- COD will have to have a stage demo
- Destiny will get a trailer likely for some major DLC
- Battlefront is guaranteed to have a stage demo

With uncharted coming up one of the stage demos will have to be that, which is great, but how many stage demos can they possibly do? They also have to give the stage to morpheus given this is the last e3 prior to it's release.

That doesn't leave a ton of room for their overflowing WWS right now- Quantic Dream (not exactly 1st party, but still), Guerilla Games, Media Molecule, Polyphony Digital, SCEJ projects (rumored to be 3 in the works), sucker punch, Sony Santa Monica, Sony Bend (long rumored open world horror), etc. etc. I mean it's been years since we've heard from some of these studios. Unfortunately they won't get the stage time they deserve since Sony has clearly taken the msft approach from last gen, which is to convince people to buy those annual releases on their console and not the competitor.

Good list. I think we'll also see game play of the other playable characters in Quantum Break at MS, and maybe (and this is a big maybe) something Gran Turismo related at Sony.

Ironically this year the Sony hype is low because Sony is expected to moneyhat everything. :p

Where did this begin? All I'm reading is Sony will swing the Moneyhat and MS will bring a good bit of 1st party? Are there any sources, or it's all heresay thus far?

Such delicious crow will be served when this game is finally revealed. It will go down in GAF history as the biggest serving of crow.

IGN should of been banned at that instance and yet it wasn't.

To me, it doesn't even matter if the game is actually cancelled later.

But when you're publicly denied by Shu Yoshida, Scott Rohde and Adam Boyes, and you still go 'b-b-b-b-b-b-but my sources!" and double-down on the story instead, and the tepid refusal to change the headline for like a few hours, that act was downright pathetic.

It's all guesses.

The assumption is basically "the more 3rd-party games Sony has, the less 1st-party games!"

Coupled with the fact that MS said they're being more first-party focused this year, it's basically fueling unsubstantial guesses that Sony's relying on 3rd-parties this year.

I think Sony's strategy is to branch out on every genre of games and have an exclusive.

They already have

Street Fighter V for fighting fans
Uncharted 4 for action adventure fans
BloodBorne for hardcore hack and slasher fans

They tried to win over racing game fans and shooter fans with Killzone Shadow Fall and Drive Club. However they were not as successful.

I think Sony will try and win over WRPG fans with Horizon. JRPG fans with Level 5 JRPG. As for shooters, I think Sony realised they can't come up with their own Halo so they will just have exclusive marketing with big shooters like Battlefront, COD or even TitanFall 2. Of course they will have another go at winning over racing fans with GT7 and my dream scenario is Crash Bandicoot for 3D Platformer fans.
