They need to throw Monster Games and Studio Grezzo more work.

Monster Games has a lot of experience in racing games. It was mostly sim racing, but they did pretty decent with an arcade style for the Excite Truck game for Wii. If they aren't going to make use of the F-Zero property they should hand it off to these guys.

Grezzo has been handed 3 Zelda handheld games and has smashed it out of the park each time, even drastically improving Majora's Mask. They have a good pedigree too. Give these guys Twilight Princess HD or a new/forgotten adventure/RPG of their own please.

Difference between MS/Sony and Nintendo is that typically, with MS/Sony's "surprises" & reveals, they are known ahead of time due to their spokespeople saying "You'll see your first look at E3" etc., or a variety of leaks that keep happening as per Gears of War.

With Nintendo, though, it's far more exciting as things are more likely to be held secret until the time. Sure, some things leak out like Mario Maker and Starfox last year...on the day though, but their stuff is always close to their chest and mega surprising, and that's not just at E3 but throughout the year. Who saw Hyrule Warriors coming? Or Captain Toad? (Well I wanted that one but we had no idea it was coming.)

I mean hell, what do we know is going to be there? Mario Maker, yes. We can assume Starfox since that's on track for this year. Yoshi is probable. Xenoblade is possible, but I doubt they'll spend much time on it seeing as it's out in one region already. What else do we have? Very ;ott;e. There's loads of unannounced titles for Wii U for up to April 2016 according to Iwata, so this E3 is essentially a blank slate.

It's part of the joy that is Nintendo's E3 and is why I am counting down the days to June 16th :)

Well said Joe, its easily the most exciting company to look foward to at E3.

I think xeno will get more attention than we want. It is a big fall game and a lot hasn't been shown in the west yet. There hasn't eveN been an English trailer right. So it'll get a bjt.

I feel like there's several things they have to cover which may eat up time. I hope there's still time for a lot of new stuff. Theyll likely show

- Star Fox.
- yoshi. I'm probably day 1 so I don't need to see it haha
- xenoblade. Same as yoshi
- maybe announce fire emblem. and or Ace attorney.
- smash dlc
- Splatoon stuff for until august
- devils third maybe
- Mario Maker
- illusionary relevation maybe
- pokken might fibally be shown

Just hope there is time for other stuff.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
As I said elsewhere, I'm expecting one between Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi to be announced for 3DS at E3

I already asked, but just to make sure, I'll do it again: May I have a ticket to the Hype Train?

Also, to actually contribute to the discussion, here are my Nintendo E3 predictions right now:

Stuff I'll be surprised if I don't see:
  • Xenoblade X
  • Smash DLC (including at least Lucas, Roy, and Ryu)
  • Mario Maker
  • Splatoon (mainly post-release content)
  • Devil's Third
  • Star Fox
  • Project Guard (probably as part of Star Fox)
  • Project Giant Robot (probably as a standalone thing)
  • New IP from the Garage Initiative

Stuff I that I think is probable, but not enough to go above:
  • New game from Next Level Games
  • New Pokemon Spinoff
  • Project Treasure
  • Yoshi Woolly World (probably just a trailer)
  • Mother 3 (Based on multiple recent mentions of the game by NoA, plus the fact that Lucas will probably be released for Smash right around E3)
  • Something that I'm not expecting at all

Stuff that I think is possible, but not necessarily probable:
  • New Metroid game for Wii U and/or 3DS
  • New game from Nintendo and Platinum games
  • New Paper Mario game for Wii U
  • Super Luigi 3D World
  • New, not "New" series Mario Platformer (preferably as the final game in the Nintendo World Championships)
  • Animal Crossing Wii U
  • New game from Retro Studios (preferably Metroid)

They only have a small amount of employees about under 30. So the only way for them to expand is if nintendo buys them and makes them a 1st party studio.

I would be totally down for new studios in the Nintendo family, though both of them are already kind of second party. The least thing Nintendo could do to stimulate growth for productivity purpose is investing into the studios in exchange for ownership shares.

Besides wasn't the investors meeting couple of days after E3? Wouldn't it be glorious to announce a major cooperation or even acquisition at the digital event? Such an announcement would easily dominate the news coverage.
I don't believe would do anything like this

I'm all for that, and it's not nearly as money intensive as the idea of buying up Capcom you see some people throwing about. It's what should/could have happened with Rare, if Yamauchi weren't a giant dickbag.

Still, anyone can put out a pretty good HD/3D remake, but both of these smaller guys have a history of good games, and/or came from a company that made great games. Give them something of their own to work on and shop out some HD remakes to other up and coming groups.

I expect ATLEAST one new game for the Wii U and one new game for the 3DS.

For the Wii U is should be pretty easy to pick...just look at the standbys that haven't made an appearance on the console yet. By standby i mean it has appeared on the wii, ds and 3ds.

That leaves
-Metroid (I expect it...whether or not it is a Prime game or something else is the question. They dropped too many hints and IIRC Miyamoto said its coming).
-Mario Sport Game (doubt this is the big game but I think we will see one soon..they are seemingly easy as fuck to make and must do well. Plus there has to be a Mario something)
-Paper Mario (rumors and junk)
- Kirby (Kirby normally gets a "real" game after the more experimental ones...may be too soon tho)
- Animal Crossing (IMO this is a better portable series but it could happen...)

Plus of course that rumored remaster...which is probably Mario Sunshine.

The 3DS is the trickier one as I think they have kinda ran through the standbys.
I could see
- Pokemon (Series has gone strangely yearly as of late. We could be due the third game of this gen...or a BW2 type sequel.)
- Mario 3d Land 2 ( I could see it)
- New Super Mario Bros game ( Mario Maker might signal the end of the "franchise"..but that doesn't come out on the 3DS....)
- 2D Metroid
- Golden Sun (Last game bombed tho)
- Advance Wars (doubt it with the new FE...but I want it...)

But yeah I expect atleast one new game for each (big ones).

You know it's Metroid. I know it's Metroid. Everyone knows it's Metroid.

I'd be on board with an HD remaster if they handled it like they did Wind Waker and added some functional improvements. For example: making Bowser require any 70 Shines to confront instead of the first several in each stage being a must have(let me tackle that damned sand bird as the last thing I do, dammit).

In the end though, what the WiiU needs right now is more content. So if Nintendo doesn't have megaton IP announcements this E3, especially with the lack of Zelda WiiU news, then they damn well better amp up their VC offerings.

Absolutely! That and the damn blue coin quests. Trying to get them all was truly an impossible task due to how badly positioned some of them were. You literally had to cheat to get some of them due to how difficult is to grab them. Other than that. Mario Sunshine it's an awesome game.

Amen! And now with their Digital Event I'm also looking forward to see if they do something as crazy as the battle of Iwata vs Reggie last year!

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own

You hit the nail on the head.

For joel, I admire your optimism, I hope you are right, but I can hardly see it your way. Loads of new games? They announced 7 games last year, I think, and we were at the peak of wiiu development life cicle. I was happy, but I suppose it is impossible to repeat it, even counting treasure, pokken and illusory revelations..

I think those, an amiibo game and a sport arcade game could be the possible new contents of the event

I want in on the hype, too. Train ticket, please?

I wonder if Nintendo has had any of their first-party studios switch over to NX development yet. It seems a bit early, which gives me hope for lots of Wii U and 3DS games at this E3, but you never know.

I think someone counted actually and it was 10 games.

  1. Kirby
  2. Captain Toad
  3. Devil's Third (we knew this existed before, complete re-reveal)
  4. Bayonetta 1 port
  5. Yoshi's WW (we knew this existed before, complete re-reveal)
  6. Mario Maker
  7. Project Guard
  8. Project Giant Robot
  9. Star Fox
  10. Splatoon
  11. Code Name STEAM
  12. Zelda (we knew it was coming but got our first look)
  13. Mario vs Donkey Kong (sort of teased at GDC)
  14. Mario Party 10
  15. Fantasy Life (localization confirmed)

That's fifteen new games total. While we knew some of them kind of existed, they all made their real debut at E3 2014 either with first footage or a complete re-reveal.

I want in on the hype, too. Train ticket, please?

You can be sure that several of their guys are prototyping stuff, like they always do. But no full team is working on anything right now. That just seems way too early.

I don't know... EAD Tokyo seem like the first candidates to work with the earliest prototypes of NX and apparently we won't get a new Mario game from any time soon.

Was there ever any clarification about that nintendo email that was promoting new upcoming 3DS games that had Metroid listed on it? I know it was taken down/corrected fast but did we get any info on that? This was months ago.

Yup.

Nintendo's often grossly underestimated, imo. They're plenty capable of delivering the unexpected in spades.

The funny thing about Star Fox is that it was an intentional leak. So the only real leak was Mario Maker, and only because someone posted a photo from the showroom floor. Nintendo are pretty good at keeping their cards close to their chest these days. I'm really excited for this year's show.

And if its not? I will be very concerned for the ip if its not at least announced with a logo. Probably won't get a gameplay demo, but it *needs* to be announced for Wii U or even 3DS.

Why would you be concerned for the IP?!?!? They have made it very clear that Metroid is gonna be very much a thing in both 2D and 3D/first person. Any and all concern is entirely unwarranted.

What was there to clarify? It was a list of notable Nintendo series available on 3DS or whatever and someone accidentally put Metroid on there which technically isn't even wrong since Metroid, Metroid 2 and Metroid Fusion (ambassadors only) are available on 3DS.

Oh, had no idea that the ambassador games were not available at the time (im a ambassador so why would I bother to check?). Sorry.

Hm? Now I'm confused? "at the time?"

Bah, im the confused one. Sorry again, I did not read your post right, slight insomnia is affecting my reading. I meant as in available to the non ambassadors on eshop to buy, which im not even sure if it is on eshop now.

Just ignore my last post ah hah.

Well, then. Just to clarify: Metroid Fusion was never available for purchase on 3DS, like all other GBA games. They always were and still are exclusively accessible for 3DS ambassadors. :)

To an extent. Didn't the TIME article that broke it go up three hours early?
