And I just got Monster Hunter 4 for 3DS. :(

Oh well, probably got time to play until this releases in the west.

So from the footage on the direct, this seems to take assets (Maps, villages etc) from a bunch of past MonHun games. Saw Freedom Unite and Portable 3rd villages there I think. As well as maps from 4/4U.

Looks like the combat is way more flashy and a bit faster. Not sure how I feel about that.

You will definitely have more than enough time.

So confused. I wonder if this is just a regular monster hunter with flashy moves. How will game progression be handled!?

Would imagine this is their experimentation game to see if different combat styles etc will work going into a new mainline

Yeah its really weird - maybe they think because its MH they dont really need to sell it on the graphics via screenshots when they have trailers and demos anyway....but is still shocking to see such bad PR shots on a mayor release - even if its 3DS.

btw. I expect this game to benefit even great from the n3DS than 4G did. You probably will want to upgrade if you still in the OG model.

lo and behold, the trailer in the direct did the games visuals much more justice than those awful screenshots xD Looks fantastic.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Heh yeah - as expected, thats probably why they dont care about screens in this youtube era.
IF it will be released in the west, Capcom gonna cap

MH4G sold +1 million in the west iirc. No way MHX wont be released here - Nintendo will bring it over no matter what Capcom thinks lol.

For a spin off, it looks great and the idea is good. I guess it will miss some elements from the main series. Maybe no crafting?

Looks like they got to reuse a ton of past assets and just added more action combat.

I still want to play it.
Yeah I was kinda taken aback with the Freedom Unite and Portable 3rd stuff being thrown in there.

But who am I kidding? If it's MonHun I'm keen.

This is looking like it could be extremely substantial for a 'spin off'. Looks like there are a fair few weapon types, more than the '4 play styles' suggested. Also, lots of new monsters, a whole new village + a few of the older villages.

I'm really curious to see how deep the hunting mechanics go in this, in terms of drops and material farming. Looks like it could be a great stop gap between MH4 and the inevitable MH5 to me.

Yep, I think MH4 has finally convinced Capcom that this series has a following outside of Japan. We'll get X for sure and probably Stories as well. 2016 is gonna' rock.

No crafting in a MonHun would be instant incentive for me not to buy it tbh. I doubt they're going to stray that far from the main formula for this.

I hope so too, but the hunting seems the same as the main series. I don't get why this is a spin off if that's the case. Why they didn't just simply name it MH4X or something else.
