Regarding the DLC:

Operation Anchorage: Kinda lame, but very good loot
The Pitt: Ok
Broken Steel: Necessary for raising the level limit and being able to play after the end of the game
Point Lookout: excellent
Mothership Zeta: Bad

They better not do that broken steel shit again

Mothership isn't that bad, it does have some pretty cool new weapons in there, and love the samauri armor, but you got to kill him first for it. :p Finding all the audio logs though is a pain in the ass.

So what are the chances that this is the case:

Game starts, you're pre-explosion, playing as the Father Dude
You get a bunch of "starter" things, like a simple tutorial, leading up and through the war (and a combat tutorial) where you're trying to protect your kid

Eventually the intro portion ends, and it flashes forward 200 years or so to the time period after Fallout 3, and you're playing a configurable great-grandkid ?

Would explain why the initial character is voiced and is only male, as well as being around pre-apocalypse when the game is supposedly around the time of fallout 3

Hopefully the game--well, PS4 console version specifically--will not lock you out of quests if you decide to just ran around doing stuff freely in various places. I mean, Skyrim was like this; sure you can visit that cave over there and messed up with all the loots and enemies/whatever without anyone telling you but chances are high that someone later will assign you quests that you need to do there and that quests will be forever broken because you entered that cave before you were told to and messing up with stuff required to complete it.

PC folks can just type in console commands to summon whatever it is required to complete quests but console players can't and I am a bit OCD in completing whatever quests any RPG gives to me (and gaining their rewards no matter how small/insignificant, one of the very reasons I am withholding playing Witcher 3 before they dole out the patch for the EXP glitch)

Yes, getting locked out of quests should be number 1 on the list of things to eliminate this gen.

Eh... I rather liked Mothership Zeta. Beyond that I agree with you

I just told my wife and daughter that I might disappear into the office for a few weeks when this game releases. I've started making a supply list and signed my will in case I die from exhaustion.

You just need a 2 week supply of Nukacola and fancy lad snack cakes, and you'll be good.

Is it too late to hop aboard? Been waiting for this announcement since current gen.

This is one of the few games I'd happily get DLC for, hopefully they don't do any lockouts like with Dead Money. I felt stupid after completing it I couldn't go back unless I played on PC. At least I got to keep that sweet Holorifle.

Duraigo, I'd love another ticket for a seat on that Hype Train too.

Chances of The Enclave making a significant return in F4?

They got hammered pretty badly in F3. Have not played any F3 DLC, so I might be missing something.

Considering the vertibirds and eyebots, it's perfectly possible. That being said, I'd rather they not bring them back and rehash Fallout 3.

These are probably my favorite shots from the reveal. I think these images pretty much sum up exactly how I envisioned Fallout 4 would look.

The landscape is barren but the atmosphere isn't bleak, and I think that's a really nice breath of fresh air. The blue sky and the selective use of vibrant colors really pop out amidst the neutrals of the terrain.

They need to die and stay dead. We killed em good in FO2, killed an offshoot East Coast branch in FO3, it would be very unfortunate and stupid if they try and utilize them again in FO4. The FO world is ripe for creating interesting and weird factions. No need to recycle the same shit over and over again. NV showed this with Caesar's Legion and House. Create something new, wild and inventive. The world was about as literally wiped clean as you can get. Do something with it.

Sorry I'm 151 pages late to the graphics debate.
The graphics may not be the best out there, but compared to last gen consoles, it looks much better.

Graphics are fine guys

We know we be overwhelmed with well designed gameplay elements

I'm guessing they will give players the choice of voice actor and have "none" as an option

It was pretty clear in Fallout 3 that Bethesda felt it was more important to pluck elements from Fallout to give it superficial IP recognition than respect the original games. Enclave and Super Mutants on the east coast, Pre-war and east coast Jet, and a very different Brotherhood of Steel are some of the examples that are brought up often. I hope now that they've gotten Fallout 3 out out of the way they can try to be inventive instead of sticking to a Fallout checklist of what they believe should be there.

I'm actually really loving the design of the protectron, it looks like a toy you can play with but it will probably shoot my brains out with lasers lol

I agree. The institute actually sounds pretty interesting.

Agreed. I don't think it was all that necessary in FO3, though I understand their thinking and reasoning, and I feel like they did a decent enough job utilizing those factions that it was OK in the end. That said it would be very foolish to do that again. It's merits were questionable the first time around, to do so again with the third modern iteration of the series would just be laughable and show a very clear lack of creativity and imagination on their part which the very opposite of what you want out the people making a FO game.

I would like to see a variety of mutant animals. Maybe some two headed dogs, freakish looking elk, a radioactive bear, etc.

But a mutant house cat probably tops the list.

For you.

That....does exactly zero to solve the issues having voice acting in the first place brings.

Also, lol @"overwhelmed with well designed gameplay elements". It's Bethesda. It won't have well designed gameplay elements.

I'm afraid that voice acting would limit dialog choices in the game. Look at the massive and varied amount of replies you could make in 3 and NV. I don't want to lose that for a three tiered tree.

Then you get MS Sam as your VA.

You are two Fallout games too late for that.
