HOLD ME GUYS

GUISDJKSJDKASDJKADMAMD,DMFA

So much feels. This is the game that made me realize that videogames could resonate with a person as much as any piece of film, literature or music. So many emotions, so little faith in current Squarenix. Still, I am hopeful since many people from the original team are involved, and I think that they did a great job with Crysis Core. Just don't change the writters please.

And now people, what do you guys expect or want from the remake? If I would have to make a personal list of it:

- Non-shitty translation. If you think that "this guy are sick" is legendary suff, wait for the Spanish version "Yuffie se quiere unir a tu fiesta" (Yuffie wants to join your party)

- Updated combat. Keep the core combat system, but speed it the fuck up. It also needs a couple of tweaks here and there: Make the characters able to deal more than 9999 damage on each blow so the non-multiple hit Limits doesn't suck balls. Also, do more in order to differenciate each different character so they can avoid the whole "materia homogenization effect". A system of stat-affinity dependant on character could help a lot in order to gave them specialized roles while rettainning a degree of flexibility and customization

- Add all the crazy unfinished sidequests that they wanted to add yet they couldn't finish, like the Soldier 1/35 figurines and the likes

- Multiple alternative endings. Because Tifa > Aerith and you all know it :p or at very least, make some better rounded up ending, or some secret ending or whatsoever, because the original one was unsatisfactory as fuck. A bit more of prologue could be awesome too (perhaps a playable-sequence a la "10 years after" could be in order).

And that's it. The rest of the things (updated graphics, music, voice acting, etc) is wholly inconsequential to me.

Is ff7 remake one of the mystery game in the SE E3 hype trailer? How many mystery titles are left in that trailer?

I guess Front Mission might have some credibility after all.

No.

It feels so weird realising that this is actually the first FF built from the ground up for current gen consoles.

For one thing, character and some environment assets are probably using advent children as base. Engine is giving me an unreal 4 feel tho... I do not think that this remake is built from ground up...

So what do people want?

FFXV open world third person combat? Maybe with scenes with Advent Children style combat.

Or A updated version of the old school turn based combat? With maybe slight movement of enemies around the battlefield similar to Chrono Trigger.

Or something else entirely?

I don't think combat should be changed, it's too core to the game.

I think the combat should be expanded however, it should be expanded and improved upon, rather than replaced.

If this is Advent Children the game then I couldn't care less. If there's any personality left from the original game, then count me in!

What a massive project this is if they really want to remake the whole game... ungodly amount of work.

It already looks more colorful than Advent Children. Not that that's saying much. lol

I think it looks how Midgar should look. The tone should feel immensely dark at times but that's supposed to be balanced out by the quirky charm of some of the other places and characters.

It would be reassuring to know that they're aware of that movies criticisms but we'll probably just have to wait and see how it looks.

I would love it if it was still turn based like the original but I doubt it will be.

Can't see it going on Xbox One. Sorry to say it, just my gut feeling.

Guess they fully develop this on PS4 and by the time the release gets closer it will strongly depend on xbone's sales. Since it's dead outside of the US, I highly doubt this will ever come to it. I even doubt there will be a PC version at the moment.

Nooo, I'm knee-deep into disc2 of the original for the first time :lol
Eh, still appreciating the pre rendered backgrounds and the experience I get from that.

Too much, really. I'll be surprised if they can recreate even a third of the game authentically within the next few years unless they already have been working on it for years, with a substantially large, multi-studio team.

It's easy to assume they're just going to do it somehow, but FFVII has an unprecedented number of totally unique locales, characters, enemies, scenes and movies. There's really nothing like it in gaming. Something's going to have to give somewhere, unless like I said, they have a small army and an insane (and risky) budget for the project.

I'm expecting something more along the lines of Crisis Core or FFXIII in terms of content, complexity and structure, rather than a traditional all-you-can-eat '90s RPG, but I'd like to be proven wrong and see a fully-fledged HD FFVII with all the trimmings.

I fucking waiting too know how the opening mission will look. I really love the opening our this game, don't give you the time too breathe (period), awesome music (the Distant World version give me done chills), kick ass entrance from the SOLDIER too.

Also the Shinra Corp. rescue moment and the whole thing leading to the motherfucking Bike chase ... This game is fueled by outstanding event.

Plus, the new dialogue shit, this is almost the thing I'm digging the most.

No, there's no evidence for this outside of some ARPG fans hoping real loud. FFVII is a traditional ATB RPG and I would be absolutely gobsmacked if they screw the landing here.

Get ready to be gobsmacked cause I don't see it happening. Obviously I don't know for sure but it's been a long time since SE has made something with modern mainline FF production values that used regular ATB, and Nomura being the director really makes me think it's going to be an action based system for some sort.

An FFXV-style world would be cool, and pretty much anything but more random encounters to a separate battlefield with ATB. IMO, that needs to not be there at all anymore.

Honestly, I'm incredibly curious what this is going to look like now that it's real.

As far as the world is concerned, we need to make it as linear as possible, as the original was.

true open world concepts would probably hurt the game more than it would help

Well, the trailer says 'First on PS4', logic says there will be a second then. You can think whatever you want now, but I'm sure Sony would have liked to remove that 'first' if they could, time will tell. That's all the facts we have, everything else is tales from some people's ass. ;)

Really, I just want them to flesh it out a bit more. During my playthrough of it a few years ago, I felt like the game left a lot to the imagination partially because of the meh translation and partially due to technical issues, but now that's not an issue. This is guaranteed to sell as many copies as it needs to for them to do it right, so I hope that they are going to go as in-depth with it as they can. That cinematic trailer definitely nailed the atmosphere and got me extremely excited. If they can just flesh everything out and maybe add some new content, it will be a total success in my eyes.

What I DON'T want is them being afraid to do that. The original will always exist. A remake should strive to exist as something somewhat unique. I hope that they don't end up making something very barebones and essentially just the first game with a few fixes to make it more appealing to newer players and better graphics. Just... just go crazy with it, S-E. I believe in you.

I think the game will be drastically different than the original. Game world, battle, flow of exploration, all will be changed and adjusted so they can actually deliver this game somewhere in the next five years. Don't expect a similiar game than what the original was.

Absofrakkinglutely.

Keep the train moving. There ain't no getting off.

I don't know how Nomura plans on doing this while working on KH3 as well. A full remake is a ridiculous amount of work. All this tells me is that we won't be seeing this game for a LONG time. Probably 2017 or 2018 at the earliest.

SaGa, Mana, DQ, World of FF and I'm sure there will be more. SE is making one hell of a come back.

SaGa's always a pleasure, is the next one coming to the west?
I'll wait to actually play any of this stuff before going back being a fanboy though.

Wonder if this remake will include any content from the ABCD Compilation, the trailer was confusing about when it is taking place.

Nojima is the master of terrible retcons, scenario alone I'm sure will be needlessly different :\ I like the original games he has worked on but he surely shouldn't be allowed sequels or prequels... now onto a remake, well... let's hope he can restrain himself.

I think that was just play on words regarding how long it has taken for FFVII to happen.

Yep, Square-Enix has been self-aware in its trailer narrative, you saw it on the FFXV trailer and you see it here. It's like an acknowledgement that we've made you wait so long and a change in direction.

With FF15, KH3 and Type Zero all on Xbone, I don't see this at all..

But Final Fantasy X/X2 remaster is all Sony products.

None of us know what kind of licensing agreements the Sony games from the past had (7-12). It may cost a ridiculous amount of money to Sony to let S-E make them on another console.

I don't think this is going to be turnbased. I'm fully expecting Advent Children combat or at the bare minimum ATB.

It depends on how faithful they want to be but I don't see this being 1 to 1. They have to spice it up to some degree.

I fully expect them to drop stuff like the random battles which is totally dated as a concept.

So FFXIII? A nightmare.

I have the bad feeling that Nomura will f*ck it up. Hopefully I'm wrong but I have the feeling he'll be dumb enough to change things. The only thing we need are updated graphic and maybe a new translation. Otherwise the game should stay the same. Damn, I'm hyped.
