Super Mario Maker e3 2015 trailer

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
I hope they secretly went back on the claim their wouldn't be a music maker.

At the very least, I wonder how music will work...would love to see them have classic themes done in different game styles, like, for example, the SMB3 main theme done in the NSMB style.

Also would love maybe some other Nintendo music for use, like maybe Zelda music.

Dunno if LBP is like this but I think he means you have to be able to beat the level so people aren't just putting up Kaizo bullshit.

The word "finish" is odd here.
They have the same condition in the Puchmo-series. You have to play through your own creation first before you can upload it.
Even so there is still the possibility, that some nasty players build secrets exits, just to troll people. But there is also the Star-Ranking, so there should be no problems.

Didn't they say this would be playable at select best buy locations tomorrow?

I know they did the NWC at the Tacoma, WA location, so I figure they'll have this playable there too. Where can I find out?

My only disappointment with this game is the seeming lack of Star/Yoshi coins, which could've been fun to add an additional challenge to simply reaching the end of the level. This is still far and away my most anticipated game of the year though, it looks wonderful and there are bound to be some ridiculous courses devised once the community builds up. I'm not incredible at 2D Mario though, so mine are likely to be fairly easy...

Cool, it even has modes for match-making modes for playing through user-made levels. I'm even more excited than I should be...hopefully this does as well as the system's install base will allow. Solid online functions are important, good to hear something's going to be in.

They just showed an incredible automatic course on Treehouse Live, where the player didn't need to catch the controller even once, and he was flying all over the place, like the wildest 2D Sonic course

There's a course on the Treehouse stream called Automatic Mario, so I imagine that's something like this.

It was just shown off and it was indeed that. It looks like the game has tracks that can accelerate Mario at different rates to make this possible.

I love everything I've seen so far

But there are 7 glaring omissions that if they are absent will devastate me.

They have been such a huge part of 2D Mario games that their absence would make little sense.

I'm frantic and paranoid and worried.

Maturity, bitches.
I assume this is the Super Mario Maker thread.

I thought it would be possible in theory after seeing the conveyor belts a few months back but nice to see that automatic stages are possible in this.

Yeah, Koopalings better be here.
I mean, they were in 3 of the games used for this.
Their omission would suck hard.

Edit: they already bothered with Bowser JR, c'mon Nintendo!
So is this $60 or what?
Yup.

Yeah, we need Boom Boom, Pom Pom, the Big Boo, and all 4 Reznor.

Do the other characters only appear as NES sprites or will we have full 3D models in NSMB style levels I wonder.

I was considering selling my Wii U but this is no joke my most wanted game this year and possibly ever. Goddamn that looks fun, I love the old Mario games and to be able to get a wacky version of those games with endless user made levels is a dream come true.

Yeah, we need Boom Boom, Pom Pom, the Big Boo, and all 4 Reznor.

yeah we basically need an option to end levels with a non bridge axing boss fight. like bop this koopa 3 times to end the stage.

i'm wondering if they are going to be DLC or something.

they've done a ton of work with making assets for things that did not appear in older games so that isn't really a problem.

Looks wonderful. Now all I need to know is if locked doors/keys are options in the SMW levels. Wasn't really expecting them, but now that we know that normal doors and warp pipes are in, I can't help but wonder and really do hope they manage to make it in. Other than that, the only thing I can think of that's really missing (other than various power-ups and enemy types which hopefully make it in) are the ability to create alternate/secret exits. Hopefully someone manages to ask/messes around a bit and we're able to find out if that kind of stuff is in soon.

Either way though, definitely can't wait~! :D

Yup.
The Koopalings probably present a big challenge. I mean they changed a lot between games, and from SMW on their fights relied on pretty unique mechanics. Boss fights in general seam rather lacking in this game. You can't really make special boss AI.

By completing the pre-made courses.
No. Scanning an amiibo gives you a ? mushroom, which you can place in levels you create. Anyone that plays that level gets the costume for the level. That's how the costumes work.

Maybe desert and other themes will be added as DLC. So far we have plains, underwater, underground, castle, airship, and ghost house.

You can't set beating a boss as the win state, but you can make the boss an obstacle that you have to kill to reach the goal.

One of the E3 levels put Bowser Jr. in a clown car. He tosses Koopa shells out like the in typical clown car boss fights. Can probably make him toss anything. You have to defeat him so you can steal the clown car and reach the next part of the level.

Another level put the goal pole behind blocks and had bowser guarding a p switch need to reach it. They made it so you couldn't jump over bowser and had to kill him with fire mario; but bowser himself accidentally tripped the p switch (enemies can trip switches!)

Treehouse said only in SMB1 mode, iirc. Which I expected...

Speaking of which, will Rideable Yoshi be incoporated only in SMBW and NSMB mode, or will they make the Rideable Yoshi for NES too...

Can you create like a 8 stage world with a unique world name so other player could find that set easily?

No. Scanning an amiibo gives you a ? mushroom, which you can place in levels you create. Anyone that plays that level gets the costume for the level. That's how the costumes work.
On the Treehouse stream, they also mentioned something about clearing the 100 Mario Challenge mode being an alternate option for unlocking costumes to be used for the ? mushroom. It didn't sound like they were just talking about being able to see those costumes in the mode or something to that effect, at least.

Any gaffer tried it at E3?
Is the physic engine faithful to the original games?
Because this game has the potential to be crack if that is the case.
